Introduction
This is the story of Alex Jung. He lives in Seefeld, a small village 15 kilometers from Bruchstein. It lies on the shores of Kristallsee. It is very quiet there except when the vacation season starts and people come from all over Germany and Austria to visit this place and this region. With its mountains, green forests and its little and bigger secrets, it is one of the most beautiful places in Bavaria. Alex was born in Bruchstein in 1973 and is now, in 1993, 20 years young. He has done a few things in his past, such as breaking into cars and houses. However, he was caught and punished. After that, Alex regretted what he had done and changed. He leads a quiet, normal life. He finished his training a few years ago and now works at the Goldener Löffel. This is a vacation hotel with upscale, home-style cooking right on the lake. Things couldn't be going better for him and nothing stands in the way of his wedding to Laura Schuster. Except for...
Chapter 1
The chaos begins!
Alex is taking a short break in the fresh air, in the courtyard in front of the kitchen. It's 7 p.m. on June 11, 1993, and Alex is enjoying a beer. It's a glorious summer's day. You can hear the birds chirping, the sound of the lake, people laughing in the beer garden and the brass band playing. But Alex's thoughts are with Laura and he is looking forward to seeing her again after work.
But suddenly it gets loud in the restaurant and the guests are outraged. Alex hears things like: "That's outrageous!" or "That's outrageous!"
But the owner of the pub shouts the loudest. "What are you doing? You can't just park your car in front of the door! What are people supposed to think? I don't have a felon here!" the innkeeper grumbles. The commotion gets louder and louder.
Alex thinks to himself: "What's got into this guy's head again? Has someone parked themselves in front of the entrance again?" Alex goes back into the kitchen to find out more. He can already hear the landlord shouting from outside the door leading into the kitchen: "You can't come in here! This is the kitchen! Unauthorized persons are not allowed in there!" However, the door opens immediately afterwards, Alex panics a little and thinks to himself: "Oh man, what's next?"
Suddenly the police are standing in front of Alex with five men. One of them waves a piece of paper at him and demands: "Please come with me to the station! You are urgently suspected of a crime. I'll explain everything else later!" Alex is perplexed and astonished. Because he is aware of his innocence, he goes along. However, when he passes his boss, the innkeeper, he says to Alex: "If you've pulled a crooked trick, you can hang up your job!" But Alex confidently replies: "Don't worry, boss. I haven't done anything. We'll laugh about it on my shift tomorrow!" The police officers then lead Alex away and roughly push him into the patrol car. Now Alex has an uncomfortably silent ride ahead of him to the police station.
Chapter 2
Locked up!
When they arrive at the police station, Alex is immediately dragged into the interrogation room. However, Alex always maintains his innocence, so much so that he even says: "Guys, please! I'm innocent! No matter what it is! Someone must be trying to frame me!" But the policemen are not swayed by this and continue towards the room. Once there, they strap him onto an uncomfortable metal chair. It doesn't take long before a man in police uniform enters the room and introduces himself in a friendly Bavarian accent: "Hello, my name is Sepp Schneider. I'm here to solve a crime with you, Mr. Jung. As you probably know, the bank in Bruchstein was robbed five days ago and we found your fingerprints inside the safe deposit boxes. If you tell us now how the prints got there, we can go home early today and everyone will be happy!"
When Alex hears this, he is shocked. Because he knows he wasn't there. Alex also knows that this Sepp Schneider is the good cop, as he has often had contact with the law in the past. However, these were always minor offenses. But what he is accused of now is of a completely different caliber.
Alex answers in a nervous voice: "Please, listen, Mr. Schneider, I'm innocent! I wasn't at or in the bank at the time! You have to believe me!"
Sepp Schneider looks at Alex skeptically. However, his exchange of glances is interrupted when the door opens and a pretty brunette lady in a black suit and sunglasses enters the room. She interrupts the conversation between Mr. Schneider and Alex: "Mr. Schneider, you're needed somewhere else! I'll take care of this case!"
Mr Schneider gets angry at this. However, he doesn't dare say anything to a woman who radiates so much self-confidence. So he becomes meek and hesitantly asks: "Who are you anyway?"
The woman replies: "My name is Felicia Costantino and I have already clarified everything else with your superiors. Could you please leave now? I also have a form that Alexander Jung, who is here now, will answer my questions!"
When Mr. Schneider hears that his superior already knows and sees the form, he quickly leaves the room and leaves the two of them alone. He mumbles as he leaves the room: "Now I'm going to be transferred to Wolfratshausen!"
Now Felicia turns to Alex and looks deep into his brown eyes. She opens a file folder and notes: "Well, at least you're off the hook now. It doesn't look good, this case raises more questions than answers. I hope you can help me, Alex! I'm allowed to say you, aren't I?"
Alex is very surprised. Is the FBI already investigating this? So he asks Felicia: "Are you from the FBI and am I really off the hook now? Are you going to get me out of here?" Felicia starts to laugh and replies: "No, I only said that about the tailor because that's the policeman's name! Believe me, you're in deep trouble. But I could do something for you. You just have to tell me who your friends are. Because there's no way you can do what happened at the bank on your own.
No, I'm not from the FBI either, but from another institution that operates much more secretly."
"What do you want to hear from me? Yes, it was me. Yes, I did everything. Yes, here's your scapegoat! I have a steady job and a fiancée. I would never jeopardize that for something like this!" Alex replied angrily. But Felicia concludes: "This could just be a pretext to deceive us, the law! Many a man has been softened up in prison!"
Now Alex gets really angry. So much so that he forgets his good behavior and replies: "You can't do that. I've worked so hard to build everything up. I'm not going to let a run-of-the-mill civil servant robot like you ruin it! You all think you can do whatever you want to ordinary people!"
It seems as if Ms. Costantino had only been waiting for this, and she announces the following verdict: "Mr. Alex Jung. You are hereby arrested for the time being. You will be sent to a prison and we will see what happens to you there!"
Felicia approaches Alex, handcuffs him and brings police guards into the room. Alex is now taken away. "I'm innocent!" Alex yells.
But it's too late! The policemen drive Alex to a prison somewhere in Bavaria. There is nothing but woods and meadows within a ten-kilometer radius. When he arrives, a couple of guards in convict overalls welcome him. He has to pack his valuables and the clothes he is currently wearing into a box and put on the overall. He is then placed in a cell with another convict. Before the guards lock Alex up, he demands: "I demand a phone call, I'm entitled to it!"
One of the guards replies: "Fine by me, but be quick!"
They lead him to a phone and he calls his girlfriend Laura: "Hello, my darling. I'm being held in prison for a while. Please come and see me as soon as possible!" But Laura answers unexpectedly loudly: "You can rot in this hole for all I care! The police say the evidence is clear that you're guilty! I thought you'd become decent! But you can be so wrong!" After that, Alex Jung only hears the beeping of a telephone receiver being hung up. Broken, he allows himself to be led back to the cell.
It is already late, but his thoughts won't let him fall asleep at first. But at some point in the night, Alex finally struggles to sleep. Suddenly, Alex finds himself in a beautiful meadow of flowers, enjoying the scent, feeling free and carefree. It also seems as if there are no problems. Things get even better for him when he sees Laura coming towards him, calling his name. Alex runs towards her until they finally embrace. Full of joy, Laura announces to him: "It was all just a huge misunderstanding and you're innocent after all! Now we can finally get married!"
Suddenly, however, dark clouds gather over the field and the flowers drop their heads. Laura now stands menacingly in front of Alex and her head slowly turns towards him. Laura now says to him: "You're innocent in their eyes. But not in mine!"
As Laura finishes the last sentence, Alex suddenly looks into Felicia's face. The last thing Alex hears is a sharp, evil laugh from Felicia! Drenched in sweat, Alex stands upright in his mattress in one fell swoop! It takes him a moment to realize that this was just a dream and that he is still in prison!
