What you will find in this book

my name is Klaus Fritsche. I am a dedicated amateur photographer from Essen, Germany. For a long time now I have wanted to go on a photo trip to Antwerp – and it didn't stop at one.

Of course, part of the preparation involved thinking about possible and interesting motifs. I looked for them in travel guides, YouTube posts and internet blogs. It was quite a time-consuming endeavour.

When I wrote a post for my internet blog after my return, I had this thought: why not make it a little easier for other interested photographers to summarise my results and create a small photo guide?

This idea caught me. The result is now available to you. Of course, this cannot replace a "normal" travel guide, as background information on the individual photo spots is only given to a limited extent.

Nor does this booklet claim to be exhaustive. It is a subjective selection. For example, the many museums and churches have hardly been included. But you will find brief information and GPS data about more than 25 photospots. I have also added a section on the Jewish quarter. You can find a detailed illustrated tour via a link to my website.

I would like to give you the following tips at this point.

1. Leave your car in a garage or a P&R car park. All the photo spots described here can be reached on foot or by public transport. A 24-hour ticket currently costs 9 euros, one for 3 days 18 euros.

2. The advantage of travelling on foot is that you will always come across new sights and motifs. You will see, that Antwerp is also a good place for street photography.

3. Last but not least, Antwerp also has many buildings, squares and streets that are illuminated at night, so there are plenty of opportunities for night photography. At the beginning of August, many buildings are illuminated in rainbow colours during Antwerp Pride, as can be seen in the pictures of Antwerp-Centraal and the Havenhuis.
