I was working in a call center in Cebu City in the Philippines when I got really interested in traveling to another country. I just wanted to see a different country and see what's out there. Actually, ever since I was young, I already got interested in traveling to other countries. But I never got the chance to travel to another country until I am 36 years of age. This is a surprise to some, especially if they live in a country where other countries are just close by. However if you live in the Philippines, other countries are far and the fare used to be so expensive.
When I was already working in a call center, our team leaders used to keep on traveling to other countries because of the promo fares that the airlines offer nowadays. Soon I resigned my job as a call center agent in Sykes and worked as an author and also as a call reviewer in humanatic. I told my mom who works as a government employee about the promo fares that the airlines are offering and how our team leaders in the call center was able to keep on traveling to other countries and places like Singapore, Malaysia, Hongkong and etc.
Coincidentally, Ate Anne who is my sister Cheyenne's close friend, is working in Singapore and so me and my family decided to travel to Singapore to see the place and also to visit her. My mom treated us all but not for everything and we individually paid for the entances of all the places that we will visit. Our iteneraries are Singapore Zoo, Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay and Legoland Malaysia. So then we booked plane tickets for our flight online and availed of the promo fares. We forgot to include a visit to the merlion monument, which is a popular landmark of Singapore but it's okay, no worries and regrets.
So day and night, I worked hard with my job as a call reviewer. Until such time. That I was able to save enough enough money to pay for the entrance fees of the places that we will visit. We also booked tickets for Singapore Zoo online, through govoyagin because they got the most affordable deal. We got the tickets that includes the tram ride so we won't be too tired of walking to see all the animals.
We prepared for the whole trip and even color coordinated our outfits so we would look good in the photos. We made trail mix, we mixed together different kinds of nuts, crunchy corn, nips coated chocolate (like m & m's), green peas and bits of preserved mango for our snack when we go around to visit tourist attractions. My mom went to Baguio, the coldest place in the Philippines because she had a conference there and while she was there, she bought me, my sister and also herself a white Keds sneakers that we will use to get around in Singapore and Malaysia.
Soon it was time for us to go to Singapore and Malaysia. We went to Singapore via Iloilo International Airport. The duration of the plane ride was only about three to four hours. Soon after that me, my mom Merle, sister Cheyenne, brother - in - law Kram, and their two kids, my nephew Dylan and niece Summer arrived at Changi Airport in Singapore. We left Iloilo International Airport at about 10 p.m. and arrived at Changi International Airport at about 2 a.m.
As soon as we arrived at Changi Airport, each of us used the restroom. When it's my turn to go to the restroom, I met an Indian cleaning lady.
"Are you Filipino?", she asked me.
"Yes.", I said.
Then she shook her head from side to side and made some sound of disbelief. I wonder what she meant and what she was thinking. The restroom at Changi is very clean and I gave her a good rating in the rating screen for a job well done. After going to the restroom, we went around Changi Airport for a bit. It was nice, there were lots of plants and flowers making the airport a stress-free and relaxing place. I found some "love candy" in one of the counters of the airport and got some. I ate one candy and it tasted exotic, it tasted like rose petals and it's also very aromatic and smelled like rose as well.
Me and my mom slept on the chairs, while my sister, her husband Kram, Dylan and Summer went to the McDonald's outlet inside Changi to buy food for Dylan and Summer themselves. When they came back to the spot where me and my mom were sleeping, they bought us some chicken nuggets with curry and barbecue sauce and me and my mom helped ourselves with some.
There are massage chairs at Changi Airport and we tried them. It made us a bit more relaxed but we don't like it so much because so many people were able to use it already. Soon the morning came and we had our documents stamped at the immigration counter. Then we all went out and rode a taxi to Clifden Hostel in Little India, the place where we will be staying for four days and four nights.
Little India is a very busy place. Of course, there are a lot of Indians there, hence the name. There's a very busy market and there's also a lot of restaurants and shops that we passed by on our way to Clifden Hostel.
We finally arrived at Clifden Hostel. It's a very small building that has more height than width. My mom and sister talked to the receptionist and soon we were ushered to our room upstairs. Clifden Hostel is a bit small but clean. We all stayed in one room and we all have free breakfast every morning for the whole duration of our stay. We arranged our things inside the room and each one of us took a bath. Then we all went to the dining area and had breakfast. Breakfast was sliced bread, butter, peanut butter and or jam. There is a toaster where we could toast our bread. There is also a dispenser for milk tea, coffee and hot chocolate.
As soon as we finished having breakfast, we brushed our teeth and get ready to go. We went out of our room and locked it. After breakfast, we went to a mall and had our money, which is in US dollars, exchanged to Singaporean dollars. Then we went to Universal Studios. We didn't get inside Universal Studios though, we just had our pictures taken with the big globe outside.
After picture taking outside Universal Studios, we went to a mall and had lunch at their hawker center. I ordered hot pot just to try it but it's not very yummy for me. The rest of my family ordered ordinary food like grilled pork and the kids, my nephew Dylan and niece Summer had fried chicken from KFC.
