Another hilarious take on school life from the brilliant Pamela Butchart - three stories of mayhem and chaos where pupils' imaginations run riot... The strangest things happen at Wigglesbottom Primary! A cat decides to join year 2 on a school trip to the seaside and has a brilliant time - chasing seagulls, raiding picnics and sunbathing on the shore. But it's when it goes into the arcade that the trouble REALLY starts... Perfect for newly-independent readers, these are more funny primary school stories from award-winning Pamela Butchart, brilliantly colour-illustrated by Becka Moor.

One day, our teacher said that we were going on a SCHOOL TRIP to the BEACH.

4We all CHEERED because we couldn’t wait to go PADDLING and have a BEACH PICNIC and make SANDCASTLES.

5And Joel Jack said that he was going to bring his

But that’s when Miss Riley said that we weren’t going paddling OR building sandcastles. And also that the giant inflatable pineapple didn’t sound very safe.

6

We all STARED at each other. Because we didn’t know what else you could do at the beach if you weren’t doing any of those things!

Miss Riley handed us all BRIGHT BLUE VESTS and said that we were taking part in a

BEACH CLEAN UP PROJECT.7

We all GASPED and looked at each other because cleaning up the beach sounded BORING.

But then Miss Riley said that our class had been chosen by the council and that if we did a really good job, our school would get a BIG PRIZE.

And that’s when Miss Riley took Joel’s grabber away and said that he was going to be in charge of the BIN BAG instead.

And that’s when I saw the CAT.

10It was black and white and it was CARRYING a bag of CRISPS in its MOUTH!

I GASPED because I’d never seen a cat at the beach before (and I’d DEFINITELY never seen one carrying a bag of crisps!).

11

The cat turned and

at me and that’s when I noticed it only had ONE EYE. 12

I was just about to tell everyone else to LOOK when the cat ran off with the crisps.

So I told everyone about the cat and Jayden King said he thought the cat might be a

PIRATE CAT

because of the ONE EYE and that it must have come to the beach to STEAL people’s packed lunches and take them back aboard its PIRATE CAT BOAT.

But Sunita Ram said, “Cats don’t come to the beach! And they DEFINITELY don’t eat
