“Beloved
people,
Pedro
Arrupe
of
the
Society
of
Jesus
was
our
General.
He
was
arrested
on
Christmas
and
placed
in
a
prison.
It
was
very
despondent
for
him.
While
his
heart
was
pounding
at
the
thought
that
he
could
not
even
make
a
holy
mass
on
the
day
of
Christ's
birth,
tears
welled
up
in
his
eyes
as
his
loving
students
sang
the
song
"Silent
night,
holy
night"
from
the
side
of
the
wall
behind
the
prison.
“Alas!
I
have
lost
my
hope
and
my
students
have
given
me
hope”
he
was
excited.
He
celebrated
Christmas
happily
from
within,
even
when
he
was
in
prison
at
the
time.”

Education
contributes
much
to
human
resource
development
and
human
life.
Advances
in
education
play
an
important
role
in
the
development
of
a
country.
The
prosperous
future
of
a
country
depends
on
the
education
provided
to
its
people.
It
is
therefore
imperative
that
every
teacher
specializes
in
his
or
her
service
based
on
the
purpose
of
creating
future
leaders.
In
that
sense,
the
role
of
teachers
currently
involved
in
educational
activities
in
schools
is
very
important.
The
purpose
of
this
article
is
to
help
each
teacher
better
understand
his
or
her
purpose
and
to
better
manage
the
characteristics
of
the
teachers
in
the
school.
No
country
can
rise
above
the
qualifications
of
its
teachers.
So
the
rise
and
fall
of
a
country
are
left
to
its
teachers.
The
future
of
the
Indian
nation
is
determined
within
the
four
walls
of
the
classroom.
Education
is
the
determinant
of
people's
progress
and
well-being
in
the
developing
world
of
science
and
technology.
Teachers
are
the
representatives
who
make
this
education
quality
and
contribute
to
the
development
of
the
country.
Teacher
education
assists
teachers
to
acquire
teaching
skills.
The
quality
of
education
that
students
receive
depends
on
the
effective
quality
of
education
that
teachers
receive.
The
primary
responsibility
for
creating
future
good
citizens
rests
with
the
teacher.
The
teacher
is
responsible
for
teaching
the
subject
matter
to
the
students
and
developing
various
skills
such
as
understanding,
insight,
personality
development,
information
gathering,
communication
and
application
of
what
is
learned.
It
is
the
responsibility
of
the
teacher
to
develop
the
skills
to
explore
and
solve
the
problems
that
the
student
may
face
in
their
life.
The
teacher
should
be
supportive
in
cultivating
goodwill
and
interest
and
in
developing
patriotism
among
the
students.
No
one
can
fully
list
the
responsibilities
of
a
teacher
to
the
school
and
the
community.
No
one
can
fully
define
where
the
teacher’s
importance,
influence,
usefulness,
and
guidance
end.
The
work
of
the
teacher
is
multifaceted.
Specialization
of
a
Teacher:
A
good
teacher
is
a
technologist,
a
pioneer,
a
mentor,
a
representative
of
change,
an
analyst,
an
effective
implementer
of
education
programmes,
a
positive
thinker
and
also
a
good
man.
Education
is
not
just
about
providing
information
and
experience.
It
is
the
development
of
habits,
attitudes
and
skills
that
help
one
to
live
a
fulfilling
life.
Teachers
who
are
responsible
for
providing
such
an
excellent
education
should
set
an
example
in
teaching
others.
He
should
lead
the
children
with
the
care
and
should
love
what
he
teaches
and
must
set
an
example
to
guide
the
society
To
be
a
role
model
he
must
have
at
least
the
following
characteristics.
1.
Being
a
collective
personality
trait.
2.
Being
able
to
understand
the
feelings
of
the
students.
3.
Being
self-conscious
and
creative.
4.
Being
dedicated
to
the
work
he
does.
5.
Being
able
to
get
used
to
smooth
and
maintain
constructive
relationships.
Personality
trait:
The
teacher
must
have
leadership
qualities
and
must
have
personality
traits
such
as
punctuality,
politeness,
dressing
sense,
mannerisms,
clarity
in
speech,
majesty
in
speech
and
seminal
thinking.
He
should
treat
the
students
in
a
good
way
with
unity.
His
strictness
and
kindness
will
make
students
listen
to
what
he
has
to
say.
Understanding
students'
feelings:
Teachers
are
the
second
parents
of
children.
The
children
have
high
expectations
of
the
teacher
next
to
the
father
and
mother.
So
the
teachers
must
live
up
to
those
expectations
since
children
spend
most
of
the
day
with
their
teacher.
Since
school
is
the
beginning
of
social
life
for
the
student,
there
is
much
more
to
learn
besides
the
curriculum.
The
teacher
needs
to
be
very
caring
and
sympathetic
to
the
students
as
their
talents
need
to
be
nurtured.
Compassion
and
empathy
are
the
things
that
make
a
teacher
successful.
Self-consciousness
and
creativity:
In
today’s
competitive
world,
there
are
plenty
of
ideas
that
students
need
to
know.
The
messages
given
in
the
textbook
are
the
starting
point
of
great
work.
It
only
gives
the
learner
the
gist
of
many
new
theories.
A
model
teacher
should
therefore
be
trained
to
come
up
with
innovative
ideas
and
apply
them.
Involvement
in
work:
Education
is
the
activity
among
the
learner,
the
educator,
and
the
social
environment.
Learning
and
teaching
is
an
integrated
miracle
activity.
In
this,
the
teacher
has
to
act
as
an
activist
and
get
the
value
of
the
students.
Teachers
need
to
work
diligently
and
with
a
sense
of
commitment.
A
person
who
is
genuinely
interested
in
teaching
should
come
down
to
the
mentality
of
the
learner
and
connect
and
nurture
their
feelings
with
other’s
feelings
so
that
he
can
become
a
role
model
when
it
comes
to
helping
them
succeed.
Constructive
relationships:
Strengthening
the
teacher-student
relationship
is
essential
in
the
educational
environment.
The
teacher
and
the
student
should
discuss
within
themselves
what
they
have
learned
without
any
hindrance.
He
has
to
encourage
students
to
ask
questions
freely.
The
teacher
should
answer
them
appropriately
and
dispel
the
students'
doubts.
In
teaching,
the
teachers
have
to
explain
many
messages
and
examples
from
their
lives
so
that
the
student
shall
develop
a
research
mindset
that
stimulates
the
quest
for
knowledge.
The
teacher
should
be
aware
of
the
student's
family
situation.
The
student
should
consult
with
the
student's
parents
about
the
effort
and
development
of
the
student
and
become
a
nurturer
of
humanity.
Teacher
-
A
professional:
The dictionary
defines
a
"professional"
as
one
who
possesses
superior
qualities,
profound
learning,
and
excellence
in
work.
The
teaching
staff
should
be
versatile,
broad-minded
and
knowledgeable.
He
must
be
concerned
with
the
development
and
progress
of
knowledge.
He
must
be
patriotic.
Teaching
work
in
the
community
is
respected
by
all.
So
in
order
to
become
a
responsible
teacher
-
It
is
essential
to
have
the
following
positive
qualities
to
be
a
professional.
Teacher’s
responsibility:
The teacher
is
the
one
who
determines
the
future
of
a
child.
It
is
the
responsibility
of
the
teacher
to
create
a
good
environment
in
the
school
for
the
prosperous
future
of
the
child.
The
teacher
who
guides
the
students
should
be
well
aware
of
the
duties
he
has
to
perform
in
his
school
as
a
teacher
from
different
angles
and
act
accordingly.
The
headmaster
is
the
head
of
a
school.
He
is
the
guiding
authority
for
other
teachers.
The
headmaster
needs
the
cooperation
of
the
young
teachers
for
the
benefit
of
a
school.
The
headmaster
needs
the
discipline
and
control
of
the
school
and
the
involvement
of
the
teachers
in
its
overall
development.
With
the
development
of
the
school
in
mind,
the
assistant
teachers
should
do
wholeheartedly
the
tasks
assigned
to
them
by
the
headmaster.
Working
collaboratively
is
what
gives
value
and
joy
to
the
teacher.
We
are
well
aware
that
the
future
of
the
students
is
in
the
hands
of
the
teacher.
Students
from
different
family
backgrounds
sit
together
in
a
class.
Every
teacher
working
from
the
classroom
should
keep
in
mind
that
their
opportunities
and
upbringing
situations
are
different.
They
may
not
even
agree
with
the
subject
being
taught
by
the
teacher.
The
course
may
go
unnoticed
by
all
students.
Only
a
few
students
will
respond
as
expected
by
the
teacher.
The
teacher
should
not
exclude
those
who
do
not
give
the
correct
answer
but
should
know
his
predictive
levels
and
help
everyone
to
be
complete
in
learning.
The
teacher
should
know
the
comprehending
skills
of
the
individual
student
and
set
up
teaching
methods
that
are
suitable
for
everyone.
Thus
the
teacher
must
work
responsibly
to
his
work,
the
headmaster
and
the
students.
Teacher
as
a
neutral
person:
A
good
teacher
should
indicate
the
students
about
the
true
incidents
of
how
his
teachers
were
neutral,
liked,
impartial
and
descriptive
when
he
was
in
school.
Also,
the
teacher
should
describe
his
students
about
the
qualities
they
achieved
through
his
past.
From
the
teacher's
point
of
view,
all
children
are
equal.
Every
human
being
in
the
world
is
different
from
the
others.
It
should
be
borne
in
mind
that
the
difference
is
human
nature
and
all
students
come
to
the
teacher
with
confidence.
A
good
teacher
cultivates
a
sense
that
all
are
equal
and
all
are
his
students,
regardless
of
whether
he
is
well
educated
or
does
what
he
says.
Special
efforts
should
be
made
to
alleviate
the
difficulties
faced
by
all
students
in
the
learning
process.
And
the
teacher
should
identify
and
encourage
the
students
who
are
standing
far
behind
in
performance
and
makes
way
for
them
to
excel.
Self-confident
Teaching:
A
good
teacher
should
guide
students
and
nurture
them
with
the
qualities
of
thinking,
dedication,
volunteerism,
patriotism,
and
passion.
So
a
teacher
must
create
a
pleasant
atmosphere.
This
pleasant
atmosphere
alone
can
develop
facilitation
in
the
classroom.
Classrooms
often
need
to
be
reminded
of
lofty
goals
and
cultivate
a
desire
to
achieve
them.
The
quest
to
achieve
the
goal
should
make
the
student
grow
in
hope
and
expectation.
Teachers
are
constantly
interested
in
learning
new
things
as
the
curriculum
and
teaching
methods
change
every
day.
When
confronted
with
any
learning
opportunity,
one
must
integrate
knowledge,
skills,
attitudes,
etc.
to
achieve
perfection.
The
energy
of
learning
continues
to
grow
with
age.
Learning
causes
a
change
in
behaviour
in
a
person.
Continuous
learning
causes
a
great
deal
of
desirable
behavioural
changes
in
one.
That
change
may
be
a
change
in
behaviour
or
a
change
in
thinking.
Through
learning,
visual
enrichment
can
be
enhanced.
A
person
who
has
a
clear
understanding
of
the
subject
being
taught
is
a
good
teacher.
Education
is
not
just
about
mastering
a
given
subject.
Education
is
the
provision
of
specific
opportunities
in
the
school
for
the
development
and
progress
of
the
students.
A
good
teacher
must
be
constantly
learning
and
aware
of
the
events
that
take
place
around
him
daily.
Teacher
-
the
cause
of
change:
Education
is
a
basic
right
of
all.
Formal
education
is
a
widespread
one.
In
such
a
situation,
some
children
go
to
child
labour
without
going
to
school.
Some
girls
are
not
yet
enrolled
in
school.
The
teacher
must
know
how
to
plan
and
rectify
such
above
mentioned
problems
and
has
to
bring
social
change
as
well.
The
teachers
should
change
the
attitude
of
working
parents
to
send
their
children
to
school
instead
of
sending
them
to
work
to
meet
daily
needs.
Students
who
are
dropped
out
can
take
the
government's
education
welfare
programs
and
make
way
to
resume
their
studies.
Various
educational
schemes
are
being
introduced
in
India
from
time
to
time
to
ensure
education
for
all
children.
At
present
all
curricula
are
student-centred.
Government
education
and
welfare
programs
are
implemented
for
the
betterment
of
education.
All
of
these
should
be
guided
by
teachers
to
help
students
and
parents
reach
out
to
students.
Thus
the
teacher
should
act
as
a
representative
and
help
in
social
change.
The
classroom
environment
is
one
that
puzzles
every
day.
The
same
subject
will
give
different
feedback
to
different
students.
As
new
questions
arise
from
students,
new
ideas
become
available
to
the
teacher.
At
the
same
time,
a
variety
of
problems
arise
in
the
way
the
curriculum
reaches
students.
The
teacher
must
analyse
and
solve
problems
as
per
the
contexts.
Thus
the
teacher
acts
as
an
analyst
as
he
or
she
explores
the
issues
and
seeks
solutions
to
the
situation
immediately.
A
good
teacher
can
instil
good
discipline
in
students
through
his
or
her
power.
He
is
the
author
of
various
tasks
such
as
designing
the
nation,
making
history,
humanizing
man,
cultivating
a
sense
of
the
world
across
national
borders,
and
passing
it
on
to
the
next
generation
who
will
preserve
civilization.
Some
of
the
major
factors
that
centre
on
a
good
teacher
are
controlling
the
situation,
vision,
Personality,
Motivation,
Self-examination,
Collaborative
attitude,
Social
consciousness,
Social
integrity,
Love
for
children,
Leadership
attribute,
Involvement
in
work,
Better
knowledge,
Thirst
for
knowledge
and
Open-minded.
They
should
stimulate
children
to
develop
interests
and
positive
thoughts.
The
teacher
spreads
the
joy
of
learning
to
children
and
shares
his
intellectual
treasures
of
knowledge.
The
teacher
is
an
important
element
in
the
education
of
children.
The
success
or
failure
of
the
education
system
depends
on
the
teacher.
So,
the
teachers
need
to
be
well-educated,
well-trained,
and
passionate
about
the
profession
with
living
knowledge,
and
willingly
help
children
to
show
academic
love
and
compassion
to
help
them
succeed
academically.
The
teacher
is
the
strongest
force
in
the
education
system.
Education
without
a
teacher
is
like
a
life
without
a
soul,
a
skeleton
without
blood
and
muscle.
It
is
like
a
shadow
without
substance.
Hence,
the
teacher
should
cultivate
the
qualities
of
humanity
and
social
change
in
the
children,
based
on
his
or
her
human
qualities
as
a
social
reformer.
In
the
early
days,
parents
used
to
send
their
children
to
the
‘guru’
with
determination
and
hope
for
full
personality
development.
The
teachers,
without
expecting
any
benefit,
donated
their
knowledge
with
the
help
of
self,
rather
than
as
a
commodity.
Teacher’s
commitment
serves
as
a
sign
of
work
ethic
and
a
motivation
to
enjoy.
In
the
Vedic
period,
teacher’s
commitment
was
considered
as
the
noble
qualities
of
the
Guru
such
as
devotion,
worship,
submission
and
truth.
Teacher’s
Characteristic
Features:
1.
A
firm
intention
and
action
to
achieve
the
objectives
of
education
2.
Ability
and
energy
to
understand
learning

Decent

There
is
a
need
for
change
in
the
changing
social
environment.
So
the
teacher’s
determination
is
essential
to
take
the
country
on
the
path
of
progress
with
new
ideas
and
to
do
the
great
work
of
creating
a
new
community.
Major

instead
of
just

and
chalk

5.
One
who
believes
in
conquering
the
kindness
and
love.
Teachers
should
be
prepared
for
the
following:
1.
Listening
to
his
children
and
wanting
to
be
with
them.
2.
Understanding
children
in
socio-cultural
and
political
contexts.
3.
Be
willing
to
accept
feedback
and
always
be
willing
to
learn.
4.
Understand
that
knowledge
cannot
be
obtained
only
through
the
textbooks,
but
via
learning-teaching
method,
self-experience
and
formal
discussion.
5.
Trying
to
create
a
better
world
by
being
representative
of
society.
6.
Teaching
the
subject
matter
with
a
specific
reference
from
the
student’s
context.
Teacher’s
commitment
to
basic
ethics:
Many
of
the
harms
and
shortcomings
in
education
and
society
at
present
are
due
to
the
disappearance
of
moral
values
in
the
minds
of
the
people.
The
only
solution
is
to
provide
character
and
spiritual
principles
from
the
beginning
of
school
education.
Every
moral
teacher
should
be
nurtured
so
that
he
can
be
a
good
member
of
a
living
community.
The
morals
to
be
found
in
him
must
be
adaptable
to
the
social
and
cultural
context
in
which
he
lives.
And
these
morals
will
be
useful
to
the
whole
of
society.
The
role
of
the
teacher
in
cultivating
morality:
Children
develop
their
knowledge,
physical
and
emotional
qualities
through
education.
The
teacher
must
play
a
key
role
in
developing
the
qualities
of
truth,
knowledge,
hard
work,
time,
cleanliness,
health,
caring
for
others,
coexistence
and
peace
to
make
all
children
as
the
good
members
of
society.
Community
commitment:
Today's
children
are
the
best
citizens
of
the
future.
Any
school
cannot
function
and
grow
without
social
cooperation.
The
teacher
should
voluntarily
contribute
to
the
improvement
of
the
society
and
the
living
environment
and
help
to
improve
the
social
system
without
any
expectation.
Concluding
this,
a
teacher,
on
many
levels,
must
be
committed
to
building
students
and
society.
Therefore,
we
must
realize
that
the
teacher
acts
as
a
social
engineer,
pioneer
and
protector.
