Chapter ONE:
The Fundamentals of Business
Business, as we all know, is the backbone of every enviable economy, and it plays a crucial, undeniable role in every society. And funny enough, one does not need to be an economist to know the importance of business, whether it is small, big or medium.
Little wonder running a successful business requires a combination of skills, knowledge, and some pretty hard work (and that is, of course, if hard work is actually pretty)!
Fortunately, the purpose of this chapter is toprovide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles of business, including understanding business basics, the importance of setting goals, and of course building a business plan; and I sincerely hope you grasp the full, multi-dimensional part of this subject called business.
Because the primary aim is that by the end of this chapter, you should have a better understanding of the essential components that make a business successful regardless of whether the business is big, small, or medium!
That being said, let us now delve into the intricacies of The Fundamentals of Business.
Understanding Business Basics
Business, as we were taught while in college, is the process of creating, buying, selling, and exchanging goods or services with the intention of making a profit, which is often the main object – profit making!
While it is true that every business is unique, however there is no denying that there are some basic principles that apply to all businesses regardless of target audience and the location. Understanding these principles, therefore, is pretty much essential for anyone who wants to run a successful business.
And one of the most important principles of business is the concept of supply and demand.
If you truly understand these two concepts, then the chances are that you are half-way to succeeding in your adventure.
So what is supply? And what is demand? How do they affect the overall success of your business?
The word supply refers to the amount of goods or services that are available, while demand refers to the desire or need for those goods or services.
