od is the self-existing, All-knowing Supreme Being who created the world and everything in it. Through His creation, we see His greatness, Omniscience, and Sovereignty. He is mighty and Almighty, with all power, strength, glory, dominion, and honour. There is none like Him, none besides Him. No one can be compared to Him, everyone and everything that exists, exists because He made them to give Him pleasure and ascribe all the glory unto Him.

When He created man, He made us in His image and likeness and put the seed of greatness within us, so that He would in turn demonstrate His greatness through us to the world. This way we can execute His will, plan, and purpose here on earth. This means that every person has the potential to be great, though many fail to attain it because they try to achieve greatness without God. As an African proverb says, 'A child who forgets the water he drank while growing up will soon experience drought'. When we try to attain greatness without considering our true Source (God), we end up failing. Why? Because He is the Creator who knows how best His creation can function.

As humans, we are very limited. We don't know what the future holds for us, we don't know what will happen in the next minute, let alone the next day! Therefore, it is the great and Almighty God Himself, who knows the true worth of the seed of greatness deposited in us, understands what it is, knows who we are, and knows when, where, and how that greatness would manifest to its full potential that will bring glory and honor to Him. Truly God is All-Powerful and He is Omniscient!

Since God has deposited the seed of greatness in us, why is it that many are not doing well today? It is because of our inadequacies and inability to discern the true worth of the seed of greatness within us. However, God created everyone for greatness, not mediocrity. Mediocrity is not His will for us. He doesn't want us to do it by our own strength in the first place, so, we must never settle for anything less than God's best. If we are mediocre, we will short-change ourselves in the long run and the generations unborn whom we are to pass the baton of the move of God. All those who are meant to benefit from our greatness would also suffer, and God would not be glorified in such situations.

Greatness doesn't just come except you know it by revelation and that revelation comes from God's Word. Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, and other patriarchs of the faith knew they were meant to be great because they received their revelation from God's Word. Thus, they lived every day of their lives with the consciousness of the revelation they had received. Child of God, you are destined for greatness but you cannot attain greatness outside of God's will. It is time to discover His perfect will for your destiny as you devote time to staying with His Word so that He can shine the revelation of the seed of greatness into your heart.

Everything we need is in the Word of God. As you stay connected to Him as your ‘Source and Resource’ don't limit yourself or your abilities. Rather, allow Him to renew your mind through the revelation of His Word and you will be surprised how much He has destined for you to achieve for Him in the land of the living.

When God blessed man to be fruitful and multiply according to Genesis 1:28, He said this because He had deposited the seed of greatness in man. This was why Adam could name all the plants and animals including his beautiful wife, Eve. Without this seed, man can't be fruitful, because it is what is inside of you that you can bring out. And if you don't know what it is, it will look like you don't have what it takes to be great and succeed in life. You need to find out what your seed of greatness is; and then nurture it so that it can develop it to do the will of God for your life and destiny. When you have the revelation of this seed beloved, then, it will be easy to do great exploits for the Lord in your areas of calling, talent, ministry, marriage, and destiny. It is ironic that many desire to begin to do great works but are ignorant of the seed of greatness in them. What you need is the revelation of your seed of greatness, you will not struggle in whatever the Lord has destined you to do for Him on earth. This is very important. Besides, when you discover your area of Grace, you will excel in everything whether it is little or big because we serve a God who has what it takes to turn a little one into a thousand and a small one into a great nation. God’s revelation is what you need and you will little yourself, or underestimate the seed inside of you.

“A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will hasten it in his time.” (Isaiah 60:22).

Beloved, you need to understand that to attain greatness according to God’s order is not just automatic. Neither is by human connection or matter of talents and being skillful at anything. There is an anointing and grace that propels it to manifest unhindered. In Luke 10:17-19, we see how the disciples of Jesus Christ did exploits for the Lord when He sent them out in twos and they came rejoicing because the devils and evil spirits were subject unto them. They wouldn't have done those miracles through skills or human efforts. Besides, they were unlettered men whose primary occupation was fishery but when the power of God came upon them, they worked signs and wonders and walked in the miraculous!

God's standard has not changed. We need what they had and were able to turn the world upside down in their time. That anointing must also come upon our lives today as well if we sincerely desire to attain great feats for the Lord in our respective areas of calling, ministry, talent, career pursuit, and destiny.

Some wrongly present their own seed and expect God's anointing to rest upon it. Beloved, the anointing can't come upon the wrong seed. We need to come to the Throne of God through the heart of worship and fellowship like Adam and allow the Lord to reveal what He has deposited in each of us. It is when this revelation becomes tangible that will make it possible for the anointing of God to find full expression in our lives and enable our seed of greatness to manifest to the glory of God Almighty. This anointing is the Holy Spirit. This same Holy Spirit was upon David and Daniel, believers like you and I who were enabled to do exploits for God. David in his own nation, and Daniel in a foreign land. It doesn't matter what field you are in, your greatness will surely find expression when the anointing is on you.

It is one thing to have the anointing, and it is another to put in the required work. Take for example Apostle Paul, in 1st Corinthians 15:8-10.

"And last of all, he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”

Paul’s salvation was by a miraculous encounter. He had the revelation of the grace of God upon his life and labored diligently. He was a light to the heathen and the Holy Spirit enabled him to write about two-thirds of the New Testament. Theologians believe he might have held an equivalent of two doctorate degrees in today's education system. His exploit for the Lord has been a blessing to the entire body of Christ.

These and more are what you are going to learn in this book. As you read, believe earnestly and receive the touch from God that will inspire and motivate you to walk on the path of greatness. May the timeless truths in this book ignite a fire within you to pursue your God-given calling and fulfill His potential upon your life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Chapter 1

What is Greatness?

“The purpose of life is to live a purposeful life. No two individuals have the same purpose in life without any form of distinction.”

he world defines greatness in various ways. It is mostly attributed to material possessions, wealth creation, charity, influence, affluence, power, or solving economic problems that meet the needs of the people. It is obvious that people are ready to go to any length to acquire these things. Sometimes at the expense of their own souls. As Christians, we ought not to share in this view. All these things are only tools for greatness and not greatness itself. Don't get me wrong, these things are good and even benefit people but seeing them as greatness in themselves, is where the problem lies. There is much to greatness than what the world calls it, and you are about to find out in this Chapter.

God is great and mighty. No one can be compared to Him. He knows all things and has everything we need to live a fruitful life. He made the heavens and the earth, and everything in them. Elihu described God in Job 36:26 in a very special way.

"How great is God—beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out."

Some people have tried to understand God logically, but everything about us is limited to our ability to reason. We can't in an actual sense fathom how limitless the Personality and attributes of God are except He reveals Himself to us by His mercy.

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end"- Ecclesiastes 3:11.

It is quite obvious to know that the person who can define greatness is no one other than the great God Himself. The earlier we understand this, the better we will begin to tread on the path that leads to true greatness.

When we talk about greatness, we cannot define it outside of God's design, because true greatness is deeply rooted in God. It is living and doing what God has destined us to be and do according to His Divine will and purpose for our lives.

There are people who are big in the eyes of men, but small in God's eyes. And there are some people who are small in the eyes of men, but big in the eyes of God. To truly understand the meaning of greatness, we need to come to a point in our lives where we align with God's will by discovering it and fulfilling His purpose.

Let us consider some examples from scripture:

- Mary and the alabaster jar of perfume (John 12:1-8). Nard was a very expensive perfume, but she didn't mind its cost. She broke the jar and poured all the perfume on Jesus as an act of worship. To some people, what she did was a waste, but in God's eyes, that was a great act of worship from a sincere heart.

- Abraham (Genesis 26:14, James 2:23). Abraham was both great in God's eyes and before men. This was because he served God's purpose in his time. Like Abraham, when we align ourselves to God's purpose and are doing His will, He blesses us with material things that could help sponsor the work.

What is your view of greatness? Some people erroneously mistake greatness for success but there are two different things entirely. The difference is that success is a stage of growth, something achieved after each phase of life, while greatness is the overall expression of who we are. It is the sum total of our lives according to God's standard. Greatness is what the Lord told Joshua about when He said good success.
