Introduction
The attitude of gratitude is a great attribute of a believer. It is part and parcel of the beatitudes Christ taught His disciples and the multitude on the Mount of Olives. He knew that gratitude is a kingdom value every believer should possess; that’s why He demonstrated it in His daily practices during His earthly ministry.
If Christ, who was God in man, could practice gratitude as a way of life and taught His disciples to follow His steps, believers in this generation must endeavor to do what the Master did so that people will know that we truly are the disciples of Jesus Christ.
Basically, gratitude means the act of being thankful to a person, expressing appreciation for what they have done for you. It is an attitude that conveys deep thankfulness to a person. For instance, when a parent buys a gift for their children, the children are expected to thank them for such an act of benevolence. Failure to do this may result in the parent refraining from buying things until the children have learned to appreciate everything done for them, no matter how small.
Many Christians do not know how to thank God. Instead, they would rather spend time praying against their enemies, believing that God will arise and destroy them. While it is true that our God is a consuming fire and knows how to deal with our enemies, whether they be many or few, we must also learn how to praise and hallow God with great adoration. He is the subject and object of worship, not the devil, fallen angels, or the battles of life.
