Beschreibung

This book of poems is the poetess’ very first poetry collection, and it holds a really dear place in her heart. For the writing of it she was inspired by how she imagined a King’s realm and everything that lies within it looks like.
The poems that build this collection all contribute to creating the image of the King, by telling each time a different story about him. Poem after poem the figure of the King becomes more and more wide and unveiled, and the reader gets to live through this character’s figure.

I would like for this passion/talent of mine to never grow old and to keep being inspired by everything around me in order to fill in all the empty pages in my notebooks with poetry.

Ivelina Stoilova has been writing poetry in English since 2015, when she was in her early 20s. Even though she comes from a very different educational and professional background – in 2014 she graduated in Tourism in Krems, Austria – she has found that her passion for poetry is growing every day. She cherishes this talent and says it helps her look at the world from a different angle. She very much enjoys that people who have read her work liked it and confesses this to be a trigger for her decision to finally publish some of it. Until today her poetry includes over 600 poems and four poetry books.
Dine with the King is her first published poetry book, the others being “Nights in the theater’’, “When the saints go marching in”, “My Planet p.1-Sky to Earth”.

Preface

This book of poems is the poetess’ very first poetry collection, and it holds a really dear place in her heart. For the writing of it she was inspired by how she imagined a King’s realm to be like and by all that lies within.

The poems that build this collection all contribute to creating the image of the King, by telling each time a different story about him. Poem after poem the figure of the King becomes more and more wide and unveiled, and the reader gets to live through this character’s figure.

Necessary to the King’s interpretation are the aspects of his life and the people that dwell in his realm, that are all essential to depict the important figure of the sovereign.

In poems like “Warden of the King’s mind” and “Stenographer” the reader can feel the poetess’ urge to get inside the King’s mind in order to observe and present to the audience the real face of their sovereign. And in others like “Oracle” and “Builder” the reader will learn more about the nuances of the King’s life and character, that all ultimately add up to the complexity and to the struggle of this very figure.

The King’s figure is extremely faceted and holds a primal duality consisting of him being a man first of all, but he is so much more, for instance a storyteller – It’s not a virtue we all have / The storytelling is a craft (from the poem “Storyteller”). His figure is so component that human words (from the poem “No book can fit you in”) are just not enough to build him up, no matter how good the author is in his struggle to illustrate him.

Finally, the poems about the King conceive a really intriguing story, that is all so rich in human emotions.

Indeed, it is fair to say the Crown’s weight is heavy.

Heavy the crown you wear is

Not just because you’re novelty

Much more weight of the jewels have

The expectations people shape

(from the poem “The King”)

The King

You are the leader I know that

You are the man they have not met

But still, they fear like a sign

Sent from the Gods to start the fight

They worship you like legend great

You bring the mystery in flesh

No day and night pass alone

If they haven’t chanted the Lord

They dress you in a fine-knit gown

Encrusted with gems and crystals

Hand-crafted rings and boots of lash

Flamboyant crown from the tribe’s stash

Heavy the crown you wear is

Not just because you’re novelty

Much more weight of the jewels have

The expectations people shape

This glory can be like a cup

Looking full of a wine so good

But at the end it might have been

A poison going straight to kill

Take this momentum at its full

Respect the people for their love

Beware who you have on it

Your table might be filled with cheats
