Chapter 1. Foot Therapy

Foot therapy originated much earlier than other therapies according to the history of Chinese Traditional Medicine. The pain caused by disease could be relieved by applying some stimulation to the area of the foot by hands or acupuncture or others.

I. Reflecting Areas of Internal Organ

Foot areas correspond to the organs of the body. The big toe corresponds to the head of brain and proximal end of the big toe corresponds to the neck.

The reflecting areas of organs on the left side of the body correspond to the left foot. The right side of the body corresponds to the right foot. Organs such as Kidney, Lung and Ureter in pairs have corresponding areas on both feet. The organs on the midline, such as the cerebrum, cerebellum, nose, tonsils, stomach, and spinal column have the medial borders of both feet. Liver, spleen, and ears are the lateral borders of both feet.

The projected areas of the cerebrum, frontal sinus, trigeminal nerves, eyes, and ears are on the contralateral foot.

Projected area of the trigeminal nerve on the left foot is to treat on the right of the face, and on the right foot is to treat on the left of the face.
