Introduction

Xylia sat on the ground as the vampire venom in her veins started to kill and turn her while she watched her village be burned to the ground and her people massacred. "W-Why me? What's going on?" Xylia asked as she groaned in pain before she hit the ground and closed her eyes and took her last breath as the attacking group surrounded her. "We should kill her off now. She might go to the authorities." One group member said as he looked at the now undead sleeping Xylia. The leader looked at him before shaking his head before grabbing and picking up Xylia before he turned to the group. "Since some of us forgot that we killed every villager here and turned one, we shall take this woman to our hideout, and then tomorrow night once the human curfew is active we will take her to our land. But remember before the sun comes up, we must be in an abandoned school or abandoned coal mine." The leader said as they all started to walk. "Cleon, Why can't we head to the subway to get on our train? It would be so much faster. And why do we have to bring the stranger along?" the member said before Cleon stopped making the whole group stop as another grabbed and held Xylia as Cleon went to him.

"Because Angelus, we can't break human law, or else everyone's loved ones and my girlfriend, who is fake to me your real mate, isn't safe. If another one of our kind hunts a human then we are all screwed. And the subway is deep in the city, we'll be lucky if we can even find a mine. Now everyone let's go." Cleon said as they kept walking knowing that the human curfew was about to end as the sun started to rise. "Great, thanks to Angelus we might lose our lives." Cleon said before a female vampire went up to him. "What did you find, Lia?" Cleon said as he noticed that Lia was dragging a bag. "I only grabbed enough for our original group." Lia said hinting towards Xylia. "Honey bat, you know the rules. We can't leave her behind." Cleon said as Lia felt upset towards Cleon even though she did know that it was a rule from the humans. "Ok. You have to choose who stays and the other goes. Me, the right choice or that whore you have with you." Lia said before Cleon looked at her and grabbed the bag and handed the umbrellas that Lia had found as the group started walking without making a sound. "You know that you don't want to leave me here!" Lia called after them as Cleon looked at her and smiled knowing a secret. "What's so funny?" Lia asked not knowing that Angelus was actually his mate despite her wanting Cleon all to herself. 

"I know who your true mate is, shame that you are giving yourself to the sun." Cleon said before they all started to walk into the city with the umbrellas up and Lia reluctantly walking next to Angelus. "Hey, Lia. How are you?" Angelus asked while looking at her while he wished he would accept the fact that she was his mate and not Cleon's before she put her hand up to shut him up. "I'm only next to you because I want to return home. No conversation no talking ever." Lia said as Angelus looked down and then Cleon looked at them. "Tomorrow is true mate night. Since we have a newborn We will say who truly goes with who. It better not be a disaster. And Lia, you will discover something you will not like. So no attacking people." Cleon said making Lia look at him surprised as she pouted. 

Chapter 1

"Are you sure about this? You know she doesn't like me." Angelus said while whispering to him as they got closer to the subway. "Yes, I need her to leave me alone and she should be your mate. Not mine." Cleon said as they all went down the stairs and to the ticket booth. "Hi, My name is Collen. My I and my family need to go home. When is our train coming?" Cleon said before winking at the woman in the booth. "Of course, sir. It's pulling in right now. Have a good trip." The women said while waving to the group after pushing a button making their train come. "Why does she always give me hard time when she doesn't give you a hard time?" Lia asked as they all boarded the train and headed home. "Because she doesn't know we're vampires. She doesn't like other females, and she likes males." Cleon said as he laid Xylia next to him before Lia could sit next to him. "Um, that's my seat. Get the whore out of my good seat." Lia said before Angelus grabbed her and sat her next to him. "I have an open seat next to me." Angelus said before Lia slapped his hands off of her. 

"Woah, You should be happy we didn't leave you behind. But tonight you will wish that you died by the sun." Cleon said as they went through a dark spot. "Huh? What's going on?" Xylia asked as she sat up while waking up and looked at the group looking at her and watched all but Lia smile at her. "Good evening, Ma'am. We are taking you to your new home. How are you feeling? What's your name?" Cleon asked as the other male vampires, except Angelus, kept staring at Xyila making Lia jealous. "I feel cold, confused hungry, and thirsty at the same time, there's something wrong with my heart it feels like it's not beating at all. I'm scared of the lady looking at me like she wants to rip my head off and my name is Xylia." Xylia said as they reached the train station. Cleon chuckled as they all stood up and then helped Xylia stand up and felt her try to stand but fall against him and then watched as Lia push her to the floor. "Get off of him, you tramp!" Lia yelled before Cleon snapped and then Angelus and another male vampire dragged her off of the train as Cleon helped her up again and made sure he held her until she could stand.

"What's her problem? I haven't done anything to her?" Xylia said as they walked off of the train and then Cleon chuckled. "Oh Lia thinks she's my mate but technically Angelus turned her and made her his mate and tonight the truth will come out. She's been very possessive of me. It gets on my nerves." Cleon said as they walked to a huge castle. "Oh, I should explain what happened to you before you meet the royals." Cleon said before Xylia looked at him confused. "That would be nice." Xylia said as they waited for a carriage to come and get them. 

"You and the rest of us in our world aren't human. Well, not anymore anyway. We are vampires and the way we choose our mates, or shall I say partners for our afterlives, is we turn them. Even though that goes against human laws for vampires. And I know you are wondering why you were turned if it was against the law." Cleon said as the carriage slowly got closer to them. Xylia nodded while Cleon looked through the gates nervously been though he also had a crime to report. "Well, it's against the human law for us to bite a human so when we do accidentally forget that we must turn them. Otherwise, there will be a war against humans and vampires and one of our species won't survive." Cleon said as he adjusted his necktie. "I have another question. Are you alright? You look nervous." Xylia said before Cleon looked at her. "Um, no I'm not alright. We also have a rule among ourselves which is to never talk the royal language and Lia the girl you were scared of had broken that rule. Just play along, I will repay it." Cleon said before Xylia nodded as the carriage got closer and they both got in.

As Cleon was putting on his safety trap, Xylia was trying to figure out how to put hers on. "So, sir. How can the royal rulers help you today?" The driver asked as he took Cleon and Xylia to the castle. "I'm here to report a crime against the rulers." Cleon said as Xylia looked around. "Of course, sir. Who's with you? Is that your mate?" the driver asked before Xylia looked at the driver. "No, she is another reason why I am here. We need a truth night and a new vampire ball." Cleon asked before the driver chuckled and sighed. "I remember when I didn't have to drive people to the castle. The balls, the executions, and everything in between. Welp, here we are." the driver said as he stopped before the steps to the castle. "You could have taken us up there but ok." Xylia said before Cleon looked at her. "Oh they may bring people to the steps but the horses can't go down the stairs if they do bring people up there." Cleon said as they stood at the bottom of the stairs.

Xylia looked up at the huge staircase before they both went up the stairs. "Let's go get this done so I can go back home." Xylia said before Cleon looked at her shocked. "But this is your home now. Oh my gosh, we need to go to the Town hall after we get done." Cleon said as they looked at each other as they were standing next to each other. "Yeah well, whatever. I am hungry. Maybe we should hunt after we get everything done." Xylia said before they reached the front doors of the castle. "If we can, I will get you something to drink." Cleon said quietly as the doors open. "Hello? Are you Cleon and Xymia." The butler before Xylia looked at Cleon shocked. "Um, that's Xylia sir. And yes we are." Cleon said as the butler looked Xylia up and down. "Right. Follow me please." The butler said before he turned around and started to walking towards the throne room as Xylia and Cleon walked behind him. "This is amazing." Xylia said as she looked around in amazement. "Yes, this castle is very impressive. It's been here since the reign of the first rulers. King Rufus and Queen Ophelia. I was their butler too." The butler said. 

As they reached their throne room, Xylia looked at all the clothes styles that took place during eeach reign of the kingdom. "They are expecting you two. Right in here." The butler said as the throne room doors open and then he left. "Have you ever met royalty?" Cleon asked before Xylia shook her head and then Cleon smiled. "Neither have I." Cleon said as they both walked into the room. "Why have you come here?" The king asked before Xylia and Cleon gulped in fear before he took a step forward. "My king and my queen. I have three things. I have a crime to report and we need a new vampire celebration and a truth night." Cleon said as the King stared at Xylia. "Requests denied. Now go and stop waisting our time." The queen said making Xylia angry. "Hey! Queen whatever your name is, I know that I am a new vampire and a commoner but don't you dare treat him like that. We come to you for help. And if you can't understand then you shouldn't sit in that chair. Let's go." Xylia said as she turned around and then left everyone speechless. "Excuse me, highnesses. Wait, Wait!" Cleon said before running after Xylia as the King stood up and folllowed them.

"Why did you do that?" Cleon said while panicking as he don't know what would happen. "Becuase a queen should be kind toward her people. I hate when people come to others for help but then get shot down." Xylia said as the king silently stood behind them. "I agree, My child. What is the crime that is to be reported and when shall we have truth night and the one week new vampire celebration?" the king asked scaring Cleon and Xylia. "K-King Dragos! I'm sorry for what Xylia said. She did not mean it." Cleon said before Xylia pulled on his arm. "Yes, I did." Xylia said as King Dragos chuckled and then raised his hand to calm the both of them. "Hey, someone had to say it. Now please answer my questions." King Dragos said before Cleon cleared his throat and then stood in front of King Dragos.

"My king, when me and my group brought Xylia home as she was turning one of our laws was broken." Cleon said as King Dracos' smile faded. "My, My. This is a huge accusation. Do you have any eyewitnesses?" King Dragos asked before Cleon nodded. "We will hold a trial tonight. You gather your eyewitnesses but I would like to see Miss Xylia, is it?" King Dragos said making Cleon and Xylia look at him before Xylia nodded. "Yes, my king. Good luck, Xylia." Cleon said as King Dragos held out his hand and waited to hold Xylia's hand. "I'm sorry, My king. But I don't feel comfortable." Xylia said and then King Dragos smiled at her. "Not to worry. Everything is alright. I would actually like to offer you a room here in my castle." King Dragos said as they both walked down a hallway. "I would be honored but I can't accept it." Xylia said as King Dragos smiled and chuckle. "I have to. No one has been brave enough to call the queen out on her shit." King Dragos said before Xylia looked at him surprised.

King Dragos looked at her and then placed his hand on her shoulder. "Xylia, I am gonna be honest about something. Me and the Queen's time is coming up so is the butler's. I need to find a replacement and you have shown me that you care for the citizens." King Dragos said as they both stood on a patio overlooking the kingdom. "Yeah. But still why me? I'm sure there are other women that care for the citizens." Xylia said before King Dragos. "Please say yes. I will show you how to rule the kingdom myself and I can do anything you ask." King Dragos said as he held her hands. "Yes, I will. I do kind of have something to ask of you." Xylia said as King Dragos stood up smiling. "What is it, my Princess? Ask for anything. You will get everything you ask for." King Dragos said as Xylia looked up at him. "I want to know who my Partner for the rest of my afterlife is." Xylia said as King Dragos said before a maid immediately went to them holding a pillow with a needle on it. "Of course, we do need to know your mate is becuase once you are announced princess then we find your mate and then crown you two as Prince and Princess then once me and the queen die. You two will become King and Queen." King Dragos said as he stuck the needle in her arm and then pulled the needle out once it was full.
