Smart Points are based on calories, protein, Saturated fats, and sugar. Most Vegetables and Fruits are zero-point foods. Although, vegetables and fruits still add up to the point’s values if mixed with other dishes.
For Instance, Let’s say both an apple and chocolate cookie have 95 calories, the apple will be zero point and uses none of your daily points while the cookie is 2 points. As seen, a 1,500-calorie diet might have variety of points values, all depending on type of food consumed.
Apart from the Freestyle program having new smarts point for some kind of foods, there have been an implementing changes also for:
WW allotted points are based on an individual's gender, height, current weight and age, with a minimum point of 26 per day. Any rollover points can be used during the week whenever you wish, and more points can also be gotten by increasing your level of activity. These extra points can be rolled over for another day or use the same day.
It is necessary to maintain a balance with the newly introduced zero points food. There will be a recalculation of the daily smart point allowance still according to an individual's gender, height, current weight and age. Let’s say your previous daily smart point allotment is 30, the new Freestyle smart point will be based on 23.
One of the exciting thing about the new freestyle smart point is the flexibility of rolling over up to 4 unused daily points into your weekly points and can be used at your convenience at any time you desire during the week. For instance if you have a big event on weekends, daily unused points can be saved towards the upcoming events and used up at the special day.
Non-starchy vegetables and fresh fruits are all 0 points, the idea is to encourage people to eat as many of these filling, nutrient-rich foods. However, with a few calories contained in these foods, they also have plenty of fiber and water, which help you eat less by filling you up. Starchy vegetables, dried fruits, and fruit juices are not free foods, although, vegetables and fruits still add up to the point’s values if mixed with other dishes. Other foods with no points are steak sauce, seltzer, salsa, pico de gallo, hot sauce,, ketchup, kim, mustard, pickles, sugar-free gelatin, chee, diet soda, broth, soy sauce and vinegar.
They add flavor without much calories.
