Dressy Stole with Metallic Thread Pattern

MATERIALS: NOMOTTA Mothproof Sports Yarn, 7 one ounce balls. Glint, 7 spools.

NEEDLES: One hairpin loom Size 3. Bone Crochet Hooks one each of Sizes 4 and 6.

Using Size 4 crochet hook and hairpin loom make 6 strips (450 loops each) with yarn and metallic thread; 5 strips with yarn only.

TO JOIN STRIPS: Hold a strip of the metallic thread and yarn combination between thumb and forefinger and a strip of yarn between forefinger and middle finger of left hand. With Size 6 crochet hook take up first 3 loops of strip nearest you, then take up first 3 loops of yarn strip, draw last 3 loops on hook through first 3 loops. Take up next 3 loops of first strip and draw through 3 loops on hook. Take up next 3 loops on second strip and draw through 3 loops on hook. Continue to interlace in this manner to end (alternating from first strip to second strip each time). Tie last 6 loops joined with an end of yarn to keep from raveling open.

TO JOIN NEXT STRIP: (Metallic thread and yarn combination). Starting at same end where first 2 strips were joined, hold finished piece nearest you, new strip between forefinger and middle finger. Take up first 3 loops from new strip, then 3 loops from finished piece and continue to join same as before. Continue to join strips in this manner until 11 strips are joined. Alternate yarn and metallic thread and yarn combination strips, also being careful to alternate at start, one time taking first 3 loops from finished piece, next time taking first 3 loops from new strip, thus keeping edge even.

Along lower edges with yarn and Size 6 crochet hook, starting at first joining, work 8 sc across each of next 9 strips, working last sc in last joining (72 sc).

BORDERS: With metallic thread and yarn make 2 strips, 120 loops each. With sewing needle, attach center of one of these strips to center of first strip joined. Insert crochet hook in back half of first sc, take up first 3 loops of new strip, draw through the sc. * Insert needle in next sc, take up next 3 loops of strip, draw through sc and the 3 loops on hook. Repeat from * 2 times more. ** Skip one sc, take up next 3 loops and draw through the sc and the 3 loops on hook. Repeat from ** across row to within last 4 sc. Work 3 loops in each of last 4 sc same as start. Join other strip of 120 loops to other end to correspond.
