What is Kenjutsu? Ken(sword) jutsu(technical applications)...is the general term for all forms of Japanese sword art. In contrast to the ending -Do, which indicates a skill with a spiritual content, such as in Aikido, Judo, Kendo or similar, Kenjutsu in all its original forms was founded by the feudal Samurai (formerly Bushi), the Japanese warriors, as a discipline of weapon handling. In the broadest sense, it describes the handling of the sword, all its technical applications, the underlying instruments, forms of instruction as well as strategies and tactics on the battlefield.

Learn to stand up with the art of
Japanese swordsmanship
Musashi's legacy
In the silence of the early morning , when mist settles over the
fields and the sound of the sword glides through the air like a
breath of wind, Miyamoto Musashi lives on - not only as a
master of sword fighting, but as an eternal guide to inner
strength and clarity.
Musashi's legacy is more than the story of an undefeated
samurai; it is a guide for the spirit seeking truth and purity. He
taught us that the battle is not against external enemies
alone , but against the doubts and weaknesses within
ourselves. With every step he took on his lonely path of the
warrior, Musashi showed that true strength comes from the
depths of the spirit, not from the blade in the hand.
In his work The Book of Five Rings , Musashi created a
philosophy that still resonates in the hearts of those who
follow the path of discipline and learning. His legacy is a call
to live life with courage and determination, to remain ever
vigilant and to strive for the highest understanding - the
emptiness that frees us from all superfluous ballast .
Musashi teaches that mastery is not a destination, but an
endless path. His legacy reminds us that every step we take
with clarity and dedication leads us to our true self . Thus,
each of us becomes a warrior in our own cause, in the art of
living, thinking and being.
In this pursuit lies Musashi's greatest treasure, and so we go
on, with him in spirit, through the empty gate, towards eternal
peace and unshakable strength .

May his path inspire us all to look at the world with a sharp,
open mind and to find within ourselves the strength and
wisdom that Musashi saw in all of us .

Small Meditation on the Katana
Close your eyes and breathe in deeply. Imagine holding a
katana in your hands , a symbol of discipline , craftsmanship
and tradition, and breathe out along the entire length of the
blade .
Feel the clear line of the blade - smooth and flawless. The
katana symbolizes straightforwardness in thought and action.
It stands for the way of the warrior, the way of clarity and
determination. Feel how this straightforwardness flows
through your body , grounds your mind, makes you a center
of calm and focus and straightens you up inside.
Remember the precise way the katana was forged. Layer
by layer, in a slow and careful process, until the blade reaches
perfection. Like the sword, you are the result of a continuous
process - shaping and refining. With each breath you sharpen
your mind, like the blacksmith shapes the blade.
The blade of the katana is hard, but not brittle . It must be
strong, but also remain flexible. Feel this balance within you -
the strength that lies in hardness and the wisdom to dwell in
flexibility . Let go of what is rigid and flow with what happens
without losing your inner strength .
6
With every breath you feel yourself connecting with these
qualities. The straightness gives you direction. The precision
gives clarity to your thoughts. And the hardness and flexibility
balance your life.
Open your eyes. You are a warrior of the spirit, sharp and
strong like the katana, yet flexible enough to live in harmony
with the world.

Kenjutsu, the art of sword fighting, is a traditional Japanese
martial art that specializes in the use of the katana, the
famous Japanese sword. The term "Kenjutsu" is composed of
the Japanese words " Ken" (sword) and "Jutsu" (art or
technique) and literally means " sword art". Kenjutsu is not
only a collection of techniques, but also a way to train the
discipline, concentration and mental strength required for
