Foreword

Munich, the capital of the Free State of Bavaria in the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) is certainly worth a visit. Because in Munich itself you can experience a lot, as well as around Munich there is enough to see.

Use this travel guide for your journey of discovery in this metropolis.

Journey

By car

From Vienna to Munich, take the Westautobahn (A1) via the Innkreis Autobahn (A8) to the B148 (E552) and then onto the A94.

By bus

There are several buses you can travel from Wien to München. In the case of Flixbus, start in Wien Erdberg bus station and go directly to München ZOB bus station (S-Bahn station Hackerbrücke).

By train

By train you can take the Westbahn from Westbahnhof and with ÖBB & DB from Vienna Central Station to Munich Hauptbahnhof.

By plane

You can also fly to Munich by plane. However, you must first drive from Wien Mitte or Wien Hauptbahnhof to Schwechat Airport and from Munich Airport take the train to the city.

Some little more information

Currency

Germany, like Austria, belongs to the Eurozone and thus we have the same currency.

Toll

Toll obligation as in Austria does not exist in Germany. There is no speed limit unless it is indicated.

Public transport

In Munich there are inner-city means of transport. Zone M is the entire downtown area and next to it there are zones 1-6. The airport is located in zone 6.
