About the Author
Welcome to my Jokingdom!
I’m delighted that you’re here.
There’s so much to see and do… where to begin?
Of course… an introduction. How silly of me.
My name is Tom E. Moffatt and I write jokes and funny stories for kids. I never intended to create an entire Jokingdom. I simply began writing original jokes for my I’m Joking series. But then I wanted to help young jokers create and tell their own jokes. That’s when the You’re Joking series was born. Then the Joke Collector’s Notebook and Colour by Laughter.
This book is an introduction to my Jokingdom. It contains a taster of everything I have written so far. There are jokes, of course. More than one hundred of them. Some are unique to this book, others are taken from my different joke books. All of them are original.
Those adventurous, fun-seeking souls who journey into my Jokingdom will learn how to tell jokes, how to write knock-knock jokes and how to create other kinds of jokes. They’ll collect jokes along the way and discover how to store them for future joke-telling sessions.
Throughout this book, I’ve included links to my other books. Check them out when you’re ready to dive deeper and take your jokes and joke-telling to the next level. But for now, this short book contains more than enough to get you started.
So, don your jester’s hat and let’s begin our tour of Tom E. Moffatt’s Jokingdom.
In the beginning, there were jokes.
Then came more jokes.
I’ve now published over 1500 original jokes. At least, I like to think that all my jokes are original. The problem is, I’ll sometimes spend hours crafting and fine-tuning a particular joke, only to see or hear something very similar elsewhere. This is because all joke writers draw from the same language pool and sometimes, when we craft the perfect setup to go with a punchline, other people arrive at the same destination. That said, my books only contain jokes I’ve come up with myself, rather than all the old classics. And here are twenty-five of my jokes that you won’t find anywhere else:
What trees do people sleep in?
Dormitrees
Why do emails from Heinz Ketchup get through your spam filter?
It’s a trustworthy sauce
How long do you need to wait when you have a puncture?
The hole-in-tyre time
What do you call someone who only tells knock-knock jokes at night?
Knock-Knockturnal
I practice football skills at every possible moment. I even dribble in my sleep.
What do you call a daisy that springs up after being stepped on?
Self-raising flower
Which kind of butter should you avoid?
A head butter
What happened when it rained at a dog show?
There were lots of muddy poodles
How are newborn buildings delivered?
