“28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

MATTHEW 11:28-30

INTRODUCTION

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in ChristJesus.”

ROMANS 3:23-24

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our LordJesusChrist.”

ROMANS 5:1

“Salvation is the pardon of our sin, and the peace of God.”

ROMANS 8:1

Welcome to the message of peace and salvation. Salvation, deliverance from sin, is a gift from God, as Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Unlocking this gift of God, i.e., attaining salvation in faith through JesusChrist, is a transformative journey; it is freedom from sin. It is a profound experience that shapes one’s life, prompting a shift in behavior, outlook, and purpose. The book of 1 John 3:9 stresses that “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”TheBible speaks “to the spirits of just men made perfect” in the sight of God (Hebrews 12:23).God demands perfection (Matthew 5:48), and the blood of Jesus provides perfection in God’s sight (1 John 1:7) .

The journey of faith in JesusChrist, which we call the path to eternal life, begins with repentance and ends in godly glory. Jesus is the source of ultimate peace in our lives, and we are blessed to have His guidance and teachings. However, we cannot be called people of faith unless we have understood His principles and begun to live our lives based on His teachings and imbibe the biblical culture, living by the teachings of the word of God. The book of 1 John 2:1-2 states, “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, JesusChrist the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.”It is the ultimate way we are granted pardon for intentional or unintentional wrongdoings and are blessed with the peace of God.

Before embarking on the journey this book guides you through, remember that it is more than just words on a page; it is an invitation to develop a deeper understanding of the eternal truth that brings lasting peace and fulfillment. The title of this book, Path to EternalLife – Rest for YourSoul, is not merely something that gives hope; it is an open invite for readers to understand the truth of what it means to sail in faith, understand and let your soul rest in the peace that surpasses everything worldly, and find a way to recover, heal, and amend through JesusChrist.

As the HolyBible indicates, eternal life is a precious gift from God, offered to us through JesusChrist. This verity, as understood throughout the scriptures, is centered on a single, specific message: salvation through Christ is the only way to experience eternal life truly, and the profound peace that our souls need can only be attained by believing in Jesus. The above-quoted scripture also emphasizes transformation and affirms the message this book strives to deliver - that our hearts can be restored through faith, repentance, and transformation.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS BOOK

The core purpose of this book is plain but deep and meaningful: to bring souls closer to Christ as emphasized in Mark 16:15, “AndHe said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”Matthew 28:19-20, “Go [a]therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the HolySpirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”[b] Amen.

“My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”

JAMES 5:19-20

In Christianity, the phrase “Bringing souls to Christ” describes the act of sharing the message of JesusChrist, the Gospel, with others, inspiring them to perceive and believe in JesusChrist as their Savior, thus leading them to form a ‘personal’ relationship with God.

Today’s world is full of things and acts that cause us to digress. We are surrounded by noise, crimes, appealing but unlawful ways to get wealthy, perplexities, and so much more. It is not uncommon to spot not one but several people around us who seem to find satisfaction in fleeting sources of pleasure, wealth, physical needs, validation, and power. These temporary pursuits can easily pull us off course, distracting us from deeper, more lasting truths and fulfillment. The constant pursuit of success, social status, and material gain often leaves people feeling empty, as though something is missing.

The world encourages us to chase after what is immediately gratifying, to measure our worth by what we have or what others think of us. Yet, in the midst of this, many are left longing for true purpose and peace, which cannot be found in possessions or fleeting moments of happiness. The chase for these temporary rewards can be exhausting, leaving us feeling disconnected and unfulfilled, as if we’re constantly running after a mirage. The true satisfaction we seek lies beyond these superficial things in something far deeper and more enduring.

Amid this confusion, it is easy to lose sight of what truly matters. But even in this noise, there is a call, a reminder that fulfillment, peace, and purpose can only be found through a relationship with God, not in the fleeting pleasures that the world offers. It’s a choice to step away from the distractions and focus on what lasts, on the deeper truths that lead to eternal joy.

If you have ever been tempted or have indulged in such pursuits, remember what the Bible says:

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

MARK 8:36

The prime purpose of the lives we are given is not to gather wealth or titles but to know God, worship Him, serve His people and other creations, and reconcile with Him through HisSon, our true guide, JesusChrist. That is the purpose behind writing this book: to help you navigate this journey thoroughly and smoothly.

Jesus speaks clearly about His purpose in the Gospel of John:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

JOHN 14:6

Remember, Jesus is not just another path to achieving salvation and peace that leads to eternal life; He is, in fact, the only path to eternal life. Jesus enables us to come into the right relationship with God, and through Him, we obtain the peace our souls desperately seek and yearn for.

This journey to faith and redemption is unique and deeply personal for each one of us. Every step must be taken with an open heart, a heart that is willing to listen to God’s calling and respond/act accordingly. Our souls must be open to receiving and attentive, and our minds and hearts must always seek the guidance and wisdom that only Christ can offer.

And while we continuously and enthusiastically strive to bring ourselves closer to Jesus, this book is not meant only to provide basic, incomplete, or superficial information. Every sentence included in this book is written with the utmost care, with the prime objective of compelling and enabling readers to reach the profound depths of faith, explore and better comprehend who Jesus is, and believe in His transformative power. It is an invitation to move beyond mere knowledge and step into a life-changing relationship with Him. No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, whether you are just beginning or have walked many miles, this journey of faith is open to you. You are invited to embark on this voyage with us.

Is your relationship weighing heavily on you? Come to Jesus. Struggling with a lack of means to provide for yourself and your family? Jesus is there for you. If it is health issues that are troubling you, leaving you feeling helpless, Jesus is here to heal. Whether life’s bitter realities and hardships have left you searching for peace, or whether it is a deep desire to understand faith and grow closer to Jesus that brings you here, know this: You are welcome. This message of salvation, peace, and eternal life is for you. Jesus invites all “who are weary and burdened to come to Him and find rest for their souls.” (Matthew 11:28). His arms are open, His love is unending, and He is waiting to give you the rest and renewal you seek.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CROSS AND THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE OF JESUS

The Christian faith has the cross standing at the very heart of it, representing not only Jesus’ suffering and death but also the deep love and blessing of God. Jesus bore the cost for saving and guiding, making the ultimate sacrifice through His crucifixion and bearing the weight of humanity’s sins only for us, i.e., just to enable us to reconcile with God. The ultimate symbol of Jesus and Christianity, i.e., the cross, depicts the unconditional love that He has and showers on His believers. It represents the peak of God’s plan for salvation, where justice and mercy meet, offering mercy and pardon to all who believe in Him.

In John 3:16, we are reminded of the incredible significance of this act: “ForGod so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” This ultimate sacrifice opened the door to eternal life for all who trust in Jesus, offering a way to bridge the gap between sinful humanity and a holy God. The cross is not just a symbol of death but of victory over sin and death itself, demonstrating that through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are granted new life and the hope of eternal salvation.

At the heart of Christianity lies the cross, the ultimate symbol of God’s love, sacrifice, and redemptive power. The cross is not just an emblem of suffering; it is the symbol of victory over sin, death, and the grave. For without the sacrifice of JesusChrist on the cross, there would be no hope of salvation.

The apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 1:18, “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” The cross is the turning point in human history. Through it, God made a way for all who believe to be reconciled to Him.

Jesus’ death on the cross was not a mere tragedy; it was a divine act of grace. “ForGod so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16). This is the very essence of the gospel, the good news that through Jesus’ sacrifice, we are offered forgiveness and eternal life.

The apostle Peter also reminds us of the significance of this sacrifice: “He bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. ByHis wounds, you have been healed.” (1 Peter 2:24).Jesus took upon Himself the weight of our sins, past, present, and future. ThroughHis death, we are not only forgiven but made whole. We are healed, restored, and given the opportunity to live a new life in Him.

The cross, though initially a symbol of shame, has become a symbol of hope, redemption, and eternal life. It is through Christ’s willingness to endure the pain of the cross that we are able to walk in freedom, no longer bound by the chains of sin. And it is through His resurrection that we have the hope of eternal life, a life that begins the moment we accept Him as our Savior and continues for all eternity.

A CALL TO FAITH, REPENTANCE, AND TRANSFORMATION

This book, ThePath to EternalLife, invites you to embark on a journey that requires three essential steps: faith, repentance, and transformation. These steps are not just important; they are necessary for fully experiencing the amazing grace of God and the peace He wants to give us.

First, faith is the foundation of our journey. It is trusting in God, believing in His promises, and accepting JesusChrist as our Savior. Having faith means knowing that, no matter what happens in life, God is good, and He has a plan for you. Faith is about putting your trust in Him even when life feels uncertain or difficult. It’s more than just believing in facts about God; it’s about placing your confidence in His love and power to change your life. AsJesus said in Matthew 17:20, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”Faith allows us to experience the incredible power of God in our lives.

Second, repentance is the core of the path to eternal life. It’s not only about realizing your mistakes but, more importantly, about you turning away from everything that God has forbidden us from doing and everything that pulls us away from God; it is about you choosing God and his teachings over everything.

Jesus plainly calls us to repentance in Mark 1:15 when He says,

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

While we are at it, I will reiterate the fact that the state of repentance is only achieved when you are past the stage of ‘feeling bad’ about your wrongdoings and wholeheartedly ready to bring about massive CHANGE in your life, in your heart, and mind. Saying things like “I’m sorry” and “Get over it” will not do the job. Repentance is a conscious and firm decision to change your path, i.e., quitting your journey on the wrong path and following God’s prescribed way of life.

As easy as it may sound – and I promise I do not want to scare or deter you, ITISN’T. It can be uncomfortable and even require you to let go of things you’ve clung to for far too long. But in the end, that’s what the beauty of repentance is: moving toward a life of peace, purpose, and connection with God.

When it comes to spiritual transformation, there is no way to attain it without repentance. Without repentance, we can’t truly experience the renewal God offers. It’s like clearing out the clutter in our lives to make room for what’s truly important. When we repent, we’re allowing God to work in us, renew our hearts, and shape us into who we as people of Jesus should be.

Repentance is releasing our whole heart to walk with God, to serve Him, and obey Him. He requires our total obedience; it’s about making the right choice: to believe in God and obey His commands. It’s about saying, “I don’t want to keep living this way, I want to live the way God has called me to.” And the best part? God is always there, ready to forgive us and welcome us back with open arms. Repentance is the first step toward experiencing His transforming power and finding the kind of life that brings true joy and fulfillment.

Third, transformation is the true evidence of faith and repentance at work in our lives. When we genuinely come to Christ, our lives are meant to be radically changed. Jesus didn’t come just to offer forgiveness; He came to make us new. In2 Corinthians 5:17, we are reminded of this powerful truth: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”This verse captures the heart of the Christian experience. It’s not just about wiping the slate clean; it’s about being completely made new from the inside out.

The transformation we experience through Christ isn’t just about modifying our outward actions or following a set of rules. It’s not just about changing what people see on the outside; it’s a deep, internal change that affects everything our hearts, our thoughts, our desires, and our attitudes. It’s through the HolySpirit that this work begins in us, and it’s a process that continues as we grow in our relationship with God.

When we are transformed by the power of the HolySpirit, our lives should begin to reflect the love, grace, and goodness of God in a way that draws others to Him. InRomans 12:2, Paul urges us, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is his good, pleasing, and perfect will.” This verse makes it clear that transformation is about changing the way we think, the way we see the world, and, ultimately, the way we live. It’s a renewal of the mind and heart that leads to a life that honors God in every way.

This transformation is not something we can do on our own; it is the work of God within us. InPhilippians 1:6, Paul reassures us that “he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of ChristJesus.”God is actively working in us, shaping us, and molding us to become more like Christ. It’s a lifelong process, and it involves surrendering to God’s will every step of the way.

True transformation means that the changes in our lives aren’t just temporary or surface-level. They come from a heart that is surrendered to God and willing to be reshaped by HisSpirit. When we allow God to transform us, our lives will look different, not because we’re trying to earn His love or approval, but because His love and power are functioning within us. With this, we learn to love differently and serve selflessly while we can; we learn to lead our lives with a purpose - a purpose that is reflective of Jesus’s heart and teachings.

As we grow in this transformation, others will see the difference in us. They’ll see the love, grace, and joy of God reflected in our actions and attitudes. This is how we know true faith and repentance are taking root in our lives by the change that others can see and the inner peace we feel, knowing we are becoming more and more like Christ each day.

This journey of faith may not seem easy. There will be struggles, doubts, and challenges along the way. But the scripture assures us that we are not alone. God promises in Philippians 1:6, “AndI am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of JesusChrist.”No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, God is at work in you, shaping you and bringing you closer to the eternal life He has promised.

MOVING ON

The route or path to eternal life, the peace offered by JesusChrist, and the rest for our souls that is found in Him alone. We will read through the scriptures, understanding them and uncovering the concepts of salvation, the power of the cross, and the grace of God. Whether you are just beginning to explore faith or have been walking with Christ for many years, this message is for you.

God calls you to get into a deeper, closer relationship with Him, one that takes off with faith and has repentance as the core of it and is complete by complete belief in the transformative power of the love He offers. This isn’t just about knowing about God or following a set of rules; it’s about truly knowing Him in your heart. It’s about trusting Him with your life, even when you don’t have all the answers. The more you walk with Him, the more you begin to see how He’s been with you all along, guiding you, comforting you, and shaping you in ways you might not even realize yet.

As you read, I pray that your heart will be opened to the grace of God and that you will come to experience the rest that He offers for your soul. “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28).Jesus is offering something we all need—a peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances, a rest that goes deeper than physical exhaustion. This isn’t the kind of rest we find from a good night’s sleep or a vacation; it’s a rest of the heart, a peace that comes from knowing we are loved, forgiven, and held in God’s care.

May you find peace, salvation, and eternal life in the arms of Christ. When you come to Him, you aren’t just getting a set of rules to follow; you’re being invited into a relationship that changes everything. Jesus offers something this world can’t provide: lasting peace that gives us strength in difficult times and joy in the good. No matter where you are in your journey, whether you’re struggling or thriving, the invitation remains: come, find rest, and let your soul be renewed.

I genuinely pray and hope that as you continue to read this book and reflect, you begin to feel yourself getting closer to God, discovering the new ways he showers His love and finding the peace that comes with believing in Him only the kind that no hardship or mishap or challenge in life can take away and keeps you firm on God’s path.

CHAPTER1

THE CHAOS OF THE WORLD AND THE NEED FOR REST

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

MATTHEW 11:28

The world moves too fast. The morning alarm blares before we’ve even had a full night’s sleep. Messages flood our phones before our feet touch the ground. The pressures of life come knocking before we’ve even had a chance to breathe. Work deadlines, family responsibilities, financial burdens, and the constant stream of bad news from around the world all build up, pressing down on our hearts like an unbearable weight.
