Entry - You will need a valid passport to enter Great Britain, another form of identification is not sufficient. The car needs an insurance that covers GB, a proof of ownership, and of course a valid drivers license. Always check before entering to make sure nothing has changed and specific requirements for your nationality.
Toll -Some highways / bridges require you to pay a toll. Keep your eyes open for the sign asking you to pay those online. You can't miss them and the online payment can be done quickly with a credit card.
Speed - 30 miles are 48km/h, 60 miles are 96 km/h, 70 miles are 96km/h.
Driving on the left - Be careful to pay attention in the beginning, especially after taking a break or on lonely roads.
Fresh Water-The water quality is not up tp par everywhere in Great Britain. Make sure you only use clearly marked drinking water for your fresh water tank.
Nature camping -It's allowed to camp anywhere in Scotland, unless signs prohibit it. Please always make sure to leave the spots well intact and clean.
Legal Alcohol limit - For Great Britain the allowed blood alcohol level is 0,8 but in Scotland it's
only 0,5.
Taking your doggie with you to Great Britain used to be quiet the challenge, but times have changed!
There is no quarantine for European dogs anymore!
The Brexit has not changed that, neither dogs nor cats have to be taking into quarantine at the border anymore.
But there are requirements:
Your four legged friend needs a valid European pet passport and a current rabies shot. The vet must have also given the dog an anthelmintic therapy (worm pill) not longer than 120 hours before entering the UK. The animal needs to be chipped and the chip has to be readable upon departure. Animals that are younger than 15 weeks are not allowed to enter, neither are certain breads. Always check the requirements yourself before booking a trip to the UK to ensure your pet meets them all.
Should I bring my dog?
Yes! Great Britain is very dog friendly and hence is the perfect country to discover with your canine. We've taken our dog all over Europe and no other country was as dog friendly as the UK!
