Every living being is made up of a unique pattern of energies. Every person is born with specific, individual energies and is exposed to a variety of internal and external influences throughout their lives that shape their health and path through life. This "energetic anatomy" is the basis of energy medicine. Energy medicine is increasingly becoming the focus of complementary healing methods and is used by many patients in addition to conventional medicine. Many therapists deal with different types of energetic methods, but often there is still a lack of knowledge regarding the philosophical foundations and the overarching holistic contexts. Energetic basic models from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic medicine with their chakra teachings are combined with the knowledge from psychosynthesis and the traditional knowledge of the 7 energetic archetypes (7 rays) and the 12 energetic archetypes from astrology in order to be able to show a unique individual overall picture - "the energetic anatomy" - of each person. In addition to a theoretical part, the reader will find a practical part with the possibility of "energetic diagnosis" and another part with "energetic coaching" with many exercises (yoga, breathing exercises, attention exercises, exercises from psychosynthesis, nutritional recommendations etc.) and assistance for important lifestyle changes. This book is therefore primarily intended for therapists who want to deal intensively with energy medicine and is intended to serve as a reference work and as an aid in coaching your patients. At the same time, it is also intended to help people in their search for SELF-knowledge who have embarked on the path of spiritual development or want to embark on this path. Knowledge of one's own energetic characteristics can help individuals to use their energetic strengths and weaknesses sensibly in the course of life for their own physical, emotional and mental health and individual life goals.

Some names and identifying characteristics have been changed.
We have written this book to give you a better understanding of the different energies of humans that are the basis of a healthy life. It is not so much aimed at laypeople, but above all at therapists who are interested in energy medicine or would like to deepen their knowledge, but also at spiritually interested people who would like to take the time to deal with the energy medicine background and the teachings of the old wisdom traditions. At the same time, it is intended to serve as a reference book for our energy medicine training.
The time is now ripe to talk about energy medicine, information medicine and quantum medicine. These new directions of medicine are based in part on the findings of the ancient wisdom traditions and in our opinion will help to gain a completely new view of health and disease in the future. They are the perfect complement to conventional medicine. We have been using various energy medicine concepts such as TCM, homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic therapy or bioresonance for more than 30 years and have integrated them into our practice. In addition, we promote the independent health management of our patients through exercises and energetic coaching, which we would also like to present to you in this book.
At the moment, our medicine is still based on the old Newtonian worldview and materialism, and even at our universities, medicine is only taught from this point of view. To date, there is little room for energy medicine concepts in conventional medicine. Acupuncture, Ayurvedic medicine, homeopathy, bioresonance or other energy medicine methods are offered by some doctors and alternative practitioners, but in many places have not yet received equivalent recognition as complementary procedures. In the long term, however, medicine will have to open up to these new directions. For people who want to decide their own fate on their own responsibility and also want to take responsibility for their own health, it is important to know as much as possible about the structure of the human body from an energetic point of view.
To do this, we need to look at the ancient wisdom traditions that have passed on this knowledge as esoteric knowledge over the millennia. This timeless knowledge is the basis for energy medicine healing methods such as Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or Ayurvedic medicine. But it is also the basic philosophical knowledge that we find in Buddhism, in Vedic literature or in the Kabbalah. However, many references can also be found in Islam and Christianity.1 At the beginning of the last century, the members of the Theosophical Society founded comparative sciences in relation to religion, philosophy and healing methods. One of the most prominent members in the German-speaking world is Rudolf Steiner, the founder of anthroposophy. The desire to extract the essence of ancient wisdom from different philosophies and beliefs resulted in an extensive library full of concentrated knowledge. Nowadays, this knowledge is no longer only esoteric, i.e. only available to initiates, but is now also exoteric, i.e. it can be acquired by anyone who is willing to open up to it.
In this book, we would like to share this timeless knowledge with you. Of course, this is only a small excerpt of all the knowledge, but it is a start that should give you an understanding of how the human being is built and ultimately serve you to find your SELF. In all wisdom traditions, the finding of the SELF, the SELF-consciousness, is the decisive turning point in the development of a person on his path to self-knowledge and “enlightenment”.
Many people are concerned with questions such as: “Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here and what is my life’s work?” Without answering the first question, we can‘t answer any of the other questions. To do this, we need knowledge of the energies that make us up and to which we are exposed, of the energetic structure of our body and objective self-observation. These are the things we want to convey to you in this book. If we know which energies affect us from inside and outside, know our energetic strengths and weaknesses, then we will gain a better understanding of ourselves and also of others and we can then actively shape our lives and use our energies for recovery on all levels.
For us, energy medicine is not a “substitute for a pill”. It is a complementary approach that is not intended to replace necessary conventional medical methods but can complement them in a meaningful way. We therefore also expressly point out, that you should always perform the exercises mentioned in consultation with your therapists. Energy medicine is the basis for a healthy life on one’s own responsibility and is at the same time the basis for personal development and expansion of consciousness. This book therefore consists of a theoretical part, in which we introduce you to different energetic concepts and compare them with each other. As a common denominator, we introduce you to the energetic system of the chakras, which in turn are all associated with endocrine glands and physical and emotional harmony and disharmony patterns. In order to arrive at objective self-observation and at the same time towards an expansion of consciousness, which is an essential component in all energetic concepts, we will also briefly introduce you to the concept of psychosynthesis. It is an important part of personal development and also a component of our energy medicine training, which we started 6 years ago as a “prevention project”.
In the second part of the book, we deal with energetic diagnostics and show you solutions with the help of an energy medicine toolbox with numerous exercises that you can use for yourself or for your patients in order to balance energetic disharmonies and to create harmony and balance on all levels of your existence.
We hope you enjoy reading!
Sabine Rauch and Olle Svensson
1 At this point we would like to point out that we do not want to represent any particular faith or religion with our statements but only repeat the words of timeless wisdom, which can be found in different words in many religious persuasions and religions, without making any judgment here.
“The most important realization of my life is that we live in a loving universe.”
ALBERT EINSTEIN, NOBEL PRIZE WINNER IN PHYSICS
The Order of the Universe
Our world consists of a clearly structured order that can be expressed in numbers, symbols, colours and sounds. The following laws of nature are an expression of this order. They come from the books of William Walker Atkinson.2 We have taken passages or individual sentences from these books or summarized texts. Below you will find the most important laws.
Our life on earth is subject to various laws of nature. These apply to the entire nature in which we live, but of course also to humans themselves and to all living beings. In order to understand how human beings function in their energetic environment, we would first like to introduce these different laws of nature. These laws of nature are described in ancient wisdom traditions and come from traditional sources. For many years, they were only passed on orally and only later written down. Nowadays, theosophical literature offers the opportunity to study these ancient texts and thus gain a deeper insight into the nature of man and the energies surrounding him.
We would now like to briefly introduce the essential and most important 7 laws of nature (or cosmic laws). In the ancient texts, they are sometimes given different names, but you can see that there are many similarities here and we will now try to present these similarities to you briefly.
The cosmos is an organized system consisting of correlating and coordinated parts that form a true unity.
All parts are interdependent, with each individual part having a specific task in relation to the whole.
All these parts form a system. Within this system, all things are defined by mutual relations, so that each part is what it is because of its relationship to the whole.
Everything is related to each other and these relationships are of enormous importance. Each law depends on the other and dependence or relativity is the controlling principle of the universe. The dependence is so absolute that as soon as even the slightest object is disturbed in its position or weight, the outermost edge of the material universe is affected by it.
If we look at nature, we see the same phenomenon in a tree that consists of the trunk, branches, leaves and fruits, but also of invisible parts such as cells, carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen atoms that the human eye cannot see. If homeostasis, the balance in one of the individual parts of the tree, is disturbed, problems and an imbalance in the overall structure occur, which may lead to no fruit forming or even the tree dying. It is similar if we look at the human being as a whole or even individual systems of the human being. If there is an underactive thyroid gland, other hormones are also affected at the same time and there is not only an imbalance within the entire hormone balance, but also disturbances in the control and function of other organ systems.
If the tree falls ill or dies, however, this also has an impact on the surrounding nature. It has an impact on the birds, the insects, the soil, photosynthesis and even the location associated with the tree. If a person becomes ill or dies due to an imbalance in his individual parts, this in turn has an impact on his environment, on his family, on his friends, on his workplace, on the place where he lives, etc.
Thus, all living beings, all plants, animals, humans, but also the minerals and even the smallest living beings such as viruses or bacteria are parts of a great whole, a large unit that is closely connected to each other and is dependent on each other.
Humans cannot survive without the smallest living beings such as bacteria and viruses that form their microbiome and virome, but also without minerals, without oxygen, without their environment and the other living beings associated with it, such as plants and animals, but also without other people. Thus, the human being as an individual is only a part within a large unit. We have to keep reminding ourselves of that.
There are also some subordinate principles to this law
The Principle of Composition
Everything in the universe consists of partial components that make a thing what it is in certain compositions. This gives it its own texture and distinguishes it from the other things.
The composition of these subcomponents determines the character. This is the physical and mental characteristics of an individual, which are different in each individual and are constantly changing. Everything is in motion without exception and the relationship of the individual components is always different.
The entire universe is made up of matter, energy, and information. Energy is matter in motion and information corresponds to consciousness. All living beings differ from each other primarily in the degree of their consciousness, but of course also in their energy and in their material aspect. We will discuss this in more detail later.
The entire spectrum of different and diverse forms of matter is solely due to the arrangement and combination of electrons. There are a comparatively small number of factors in nature that can lead to a variety of compositions and arrangements.
In Buddhist teachings, the principle of composition is often mentioned. Let’s take the image of a carriage that consists of different components: wheels, body, drawbar, etc., which are assembled in different special ways. If these assembled parts are removed, no carriage itself is left behind. On the other hand, these individual separate parts do not yet make up the carriage, but only through the special composition do they become one carriage together. If these parts and their special composition are missing, nothing remains but the name “carriage”.
Everything can be broken down into its partial characteristics and then synthesized again into the totality of its characteristics. The character of natural things is determined by the presence and power of the respective properties in their particular composition and mutual relationships.
The Principle of Interdependence and Coordination
Everything in the cosmos is coordinated and related to everything else, there is nothing unrelated.
No object is independent. Everything depends on each other and dependence, relativity, is the controlling reality in the manifested universe. Each event is related to other events of the same type and class. Furthermore, it follows that every statement about a relative thing is and must be merely relative or comparative and is not absolute.
For example, there is no absolute heat or cold, only relative or comparative temperatures. The same is true of colour, beauty, wealth, and all other things in the cosmos. Pain in the context of an illness is also always relative and depends on many different factors such as life situation, previous pain experience, age, the patient’s ability to cope with pain, etc.
The Principle of Diversity
In the cosmos, infinite variety and diversity manifest themselves. There are no two things that are absolutely identical.
There is no thing in the cosmos that corresponds exactly to another thing. There are indeed many gradations in similarity, but no absolute equality in form and essence. Evolutionary progress is always accompanied by variations. Part of the cosmic system of laws is to create and maintain variations.
Just as there are no two leaves of a tree that are exactly the same, there are no two cells in our body that are exactly the same. The difference is sometimes so small that we cannot perceive it with our naked eye. This is also the reason why each patient is assessed individually in energy medicine and no generalized standards are applied.
The Principle of Analogy and Correspondence
All activities on one level have their specific analogies and equivalents on every other level. “As above, so below, as within, so without.”
Because of this principle, man is able to correctly infer from the known to the unknown.
In the traditions of the ancient wisdom traditions, there are 7 states that matter can occupy, 7 planes of existence, or fields of consciousness. We will be able to read more about this phenomenon later.
One of the 7 hermetic laws of Hermes Trismegistos3 is: “As above, so below, as within, so without.” As in the microcosm, so in the macrocosm.
The same phenomenon can be seen in the holistic images of the human body in the hands or ears, as we use them in the context of hand or ear acupuncture. Foot reflexology therapy is also an example of this principle. The task of energy medicine is to identify the analogies and correspondences at the various levels and to include them in diagnostics and therapy, taking into account these partial laws.
Everything in the cosmos is active and in constant motion. In the whole cosmos and in every single part of it, there is a deeper and all-pervading activity.
There is an underlying and pervasive activity in the cosmos as a whole and in each of its sub-elements that is always at work. The universal presence and operation of activity, movement, and work within the cosmos is mentioned in many of the earliest philosophical schools, especially in the esoteric teachings.
Modern philosophy and science teach us that the universe as a whole is differentiated by activity, motion, and labour at every level of its existence. Consequently, we have a mental activity, the activity of consciousness, the activities of life, the activities of assimilation, growth, dissolution, decay, and so on. The activities of living cells or organs, the activities of plants, the activities of animals, chemical activities, activities of atoms, electronic activities and, in short, all forms of physical and psychic function or action that involve transformation, development and interaction.
Modern scientists believe that the difference that can be seen between natural things is largely due to the different degrees of vibration. The vibration of electrons and the units of physical matter give rise to atoms, the vibrations of atoms give rise to molecules that make up material forms. The degree of vibration is the scale level of the physical nature and essence of all material objects. Heat, light, electricity and so on are vibratory energies with different levels of intensity that determine the individual character of the energy.
The ancient wisdom traditions were also of this opinion. An old hermetic proverb says: “Nothing rests, everything is in motion, everything vibrates.” There are certain vibrations that are of such high intensity that our limited senses perceive them as absolutely motionless.
In the process of birth, growth and development of organic and inorganic forms of natural objects, activity is permanently perceptible. But this is equally true of the process of death, decay, and the dissolution and splitting of natural forms, organic as well as inorganic, involving activity, labour, and movement. Disintegration and integration are equally the result of activity. Construction and decay are achieved through work, and work is just another name for activity.
In the ancient wisdom traditions, it is assumed that life works and is present in all of nature, and that death is merely a phase of life. Nothing is really without life.
Professor Ernst Haeckel, the famous physician and zoologist, commented on this phenomenon as follows: “I am of the opinion that all substance is endowed with motion, or rather with the power of motion. As elementary (atomic) attraction and repulsion, these forces are present in every chemical process, no matter how simple, and all other manifestations are based on them. The idea of chemical affinity is based on the fact that different chemical elements recognize the qualitative differences of other elements, i.e. experience „liking” or “dislike” in contact with them and perform certain movements on the basis of this.“4
Voluntarism is the school of modern philosophy that postulates as a principle that the will is the basis and foundation of reality, being and energy. Schopenhauer is one of the most famous voluntarists in modern philosophy. He argued that “desire-will,” the will to live, is the core of existence and the centre of the diverse overall activities. He said that in everything the spirit of desire is manifest and at work, seeking to express itself in activity and manifestation. Most of the time, this urge and the resulting actions occur unconsciously.
Most existences have only a lower consciousness and yet they act according to the laws of their nature, i.e. the will. Plants have practically no consciousness in the sense of intellect and the lowest species of animals have even a hint of it. The deeper we go into the forms of life, the smaller the role of the intellect becomes, but not that of the will. Since the will is the universal cause in us, it is also the universal cause in all other things.
The fact that plants are able to break through even the asphalt to reach sunlight testifies to this infinite power and activity, the will to live.
In the ideas of ancient Buddhism, it is said: “The will is the driving force or energy, which in thousands of forms gives the appearance of continuous movement or continuous becoming. Will, however, like everything else in the universe, is sevenfold in external form and appears as abstract energy or animal desire, depending on the level of consciousness at which it manifests itself. He is in himself an abstract and impersonal force, and as such neither good nor bad.”5
In the further course of this book, we will discuss the sevenfold energies and the individual levels of consciousness and how the different types of energy present themselves on different levels of consciousness. The task of energy medicine is to remove blockages and stagnation and to restore or maintain the free flow of energies.
Everything changes, nothing is permanent. Time is nothing more than measured change. Nothing in the cosmos remains unchanged even for the smallest possible time.
Everything changes, nothing is permanent. The cosmos manifests as a whole and in all its sub-elements there is constant changes. Nothing in the cosmos remains unchanged even for the slightest moment. Time itself is nothing but measured change. In this context, change means any form of change or variation, the passing from one state or form to another, transformation, transmutation, transmission.
The philosophical term “becoming” describes the transition of one form or state to another, the entry into a new state or condition from the previous one.
Everything in the cosmos, everything in the world of nature, is usually supposed to manifest the following steps, states or changes of becoming, namely:
A) Birth
B) Growth
C) Maturity
D) Decay
E) Death.
This is the cycle of life, unless some of the intermediate stages are interrupted by an early consequence of death on birth. These two stages, the first and the last, are unavoidable. This applies to the entire universe, to the atoms, minerals, plants, animals, humans. All physical and psychological conditions or forms, all forms of natural activities are subject to this law.
The universe is in a state of flow. It flows on and on, always the same and yet never exactly the same, always different and yet always starting from its previous states and forms. “You can‘t get into the same rivers twice, because fresh water will flow on you all the time.”
Gautama Buddha used the image of fire because it best represented change or “becoming” for him. He likened the universe and all the things in it to a flame that, while it is always the same flame, is not exactly or exactly the same identical flame for even two consecutive moments. The flame is actually only the activity of constant combustion.
Everything takes place in regulated and orderly change and the development from simple to ever more complex forms and conditions. All things are dynamic and not static, in the process of becoming rather than in simple being, and uninterrupted change, an incessant “changing” is a hallmark of the activities in the cosmos.
Without change, there is no consciousness. We can only perceive consciousness through change. A constant stimulus of perception quickly becomes imperceptible. It is impossible to maintain a constant, consistent state of consciousness.
Nothing on earth is of true duration, because nothing remains the same, without change for even a billionth of a second. Time is only a reflection of the succession of our states of consciousness as we travel through eternal time. The present is just a mathematical line that separates the part of the eternal period of time that we call the future from the part that we call the past.
If we look at health in this context, it is also a dynamic process that is constantly changing and adapting. Stagnation and paralysis of reactions lead to energetic blockages and thus to illness. The goal of energy medicine is to eliminate such blockages and also stagnation and paralysis of reactions.
The general law of change includes a subordinate principle
The Principle of Continuity and Orderly Sequence
All changeable things in the cosmos manifest themselves through a continuous flow, connected in a progressive unity, always maintaining an orderly sequence.
The sequence of changing things in the cosmos manifests itself in a continuous flow, is connected with a progressive unity, and always maintains its orderly sequence. “Orderly sequence” refers to an orderly procedure in accordance with the law and sequence. There is a “sequence”, a continuous sequence of united and inseparable occurrences and events. You should look at the whole thing figuratively like a flowing stream. This stream can be temporarily dammed by material obstacles that flow with it, or it can run underground for a while. In all these images, the flow in its orderly sequence must always be imagined as constant and uninterrupted.
In this context, let us take a look at time. Time is the measure of change; it can be perceived as continuous or divided. We divide them into seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks and months, years, centuries and so on. In doing so, we forget that time is never so separated, just as one cannot separate and look at a street into millimetres or miles alone but should perceive it as a whole. Time-stopped objects are snapshots of a moving process.
The continuous flow of sequences in the cosmos is not just any flow, but a flow that manifests order. It is an orderly, logical flow that is not haphazard, chaotic or confused at any time. There is no coincidence. Lawfulness and order are recognizable everywhere and manifest themselves in everything.
Even sudden jumps and changes do not in any way violate the integrity of this law. There are no missing connections in the general process of continuous change, even if human observation does not perceive all these connections at the same time.
The task of energy medicine is to maintain the flow and continuous change according to the natural order.
Everything happens because of a cause. All changes in cosmic activity are conditional and causal.
A “conditioned thing” is something that is made into what it is by something else. All phenomena are “conditional” in some form. All phenomena are in reality not static things or beings, but activities or forms that establish and cause another form. A stimulus is always an activity and the response to it is always similar, be it physical or mental (immaterial).
The causes of an event are the circumstances that must have preceded it for the event to happen. The Buddhists are of the opinion that, in a sense, all living activities have as their primary motive and conditional cause some kind of desire, strong or weak, conscious or unconscious. Desire is the essence of the driving force that underlies all human activity. “Behind will lies desire” is an old saying of occultism.
Buddhists also hold that any existing relationship of interaction or coordination, of interrelation or interdependence, must be regarded as one of the causes that make the thing or event what it is in detail. The only alternative to ordered cause and effect would be pure chance, and pure chance cannot be captured in connection with the observed activities of the cosmos. In the modern philosophical context, the term “chance” is understood to mean that it is merely the still unknown and unforeseen cause of an event.
Causality is always there and active, whether it is known or unknown. In Buddhism, the law of cause and effect is called Karma. Karma is the infallible law that adjusts effect to cause on the physical, mental and spiritual planes of being. For no cause remains without its appropriate effect. Karma is the unseen and unknown law that wisely, intelligently and justly adapts every effect to its cause and traces its trace back to the causer.
The task of energy medicine is to find out what the cause of a certain disease is. The cause can also be a very long time ago and be karmic, so to speak. We will discuss this later.
Everything moves in rhythmic cycles. All changes take place in a measured rhythm, in measured cycles or in a periodic sequence.
The term “rhythm” means a regular sequence of movements, impulses, changes and the like. The term “cycle” means a period of time in which a sequence of appearances is completed and then begins again. The term “periodicity” describes a regular state of a series of repeating circles or cycles, repeated activities or repetitive periods of time.
The law of rhythm and periodicity is closely related to the law of polarity. It describes the rhythmic process in alternating between the two poles of natural things. Heraclitus and Gautama Buddha already emphasized this law 2500 years ago and many other philosophers and scientists such as Pythagoras have made it an essential law of their philosophy.
In the cosmos, there are various recurring periods of alternating activity and passivity. In the Far Eastern teaching, the two laws, the law of Karma and the law of cyclical periodicity, are the basis for the doctrine of reincarnation.
Everything in nature is rhythmic, from the regular recurrence of day and night to the tides of the sea, the pulsation of light, warmth and sound, to the rhythm of the seasons and climatic changes. Everything beats to the beat and has its own pace or its own temporal degree of movement and change.
If we look at the universe as a whole, we see the permanent change of processes of construction and integration that exist simultaneously with those of dissolution. There is a balance between these processes of construction and dissolution, and never the slightest bit of energy is lost or has ever been lost. The cosmos is an infinite succession of cyclical changes.
The history of the world moves through the same stages in endless cycles. Similarly, the followers of Pythagoras‘ Hylozoics describe that the successive worlds resemble each other down to the smallest detail. This concept of endless repetition down to the smallest detail and the smallest event has fascinated many philosophers of antiquity and modernity. On the other hand, there is neither now nor in the future a thing or event that precisely and exactly resembles another thing or event. Thus, there is the idea of eternal progress with infinite variety.
The simplest form of rhythm manifests itself as the familiar beat or swinging from one pole or extreme to the other. The pendulum is well suited for illustration. Each of our organs and each of our cells also has its own vibration and a special frequency. The wave patterns of the oscillations help in the transmission of information. Without these special wave patterns, information transfer between cells is not possible. Bioresonance, for example, also works at the level of information transmission, in which certain wave patterns can be changed in order to eliminate stressful information in the organism and to restore cell communication undisturbed.
This general law includes a subordinate principle
The Principle of Involution and Evolution
Involution always precedes evolution. Both are twin aspects or opposing poles of a great process. Everything that develops must have been involved in previous ones.
Evolution here refers to a process of gradual development, unfolding and formation. Involution means wrapping, hiding, concealing, etc.
Before anything can be produced or can develop and unfold, it must first have been developed or unfolded or immaterially included in what it produces. Take the example of the chicken, which must have been involved in the egg before it came out of it. Nature provides numerous examples from the plant and animal world. The entire process of organic reproduction is based on this principle. In all areas where natural activity is present, there are alternating currents of flowing in and out. Thus, it is described in the ancient scriptures that spirit is involved in matter and matter evolves into spirit. Evolution therefore makes up only half of the law, the other half consists of involution. That which is involved in matter is constantly striving to unfold and develop and thus be free of its material form again. Thus, during a human life, our spirit is only temporarily in a material form, including the body, before it is freed from the material form again, when the body dies and the spirit or the soul energy looks for a new material form after some time. This also corresponds to the principle of involution and evolution.
In the context of energy medicine, we must always bear this in mind. Even if we strive to keep the physical body, i.e. our form, in which our spirit or soul energy is located, as healthy as possible, it may still be that illness and decay of the body are a natural step within the framework of evolution and this law of nature. So if we keep in mind that the disintegration of the body and death are only a necessary step in the great event of involution and evolution, and that our SELF lives eternally, death loses its terror. This insight is especially important when we are confronted with a serious illness whose course seems hopeless. We will deal with this topic in more detail later in this book.
Everything is made up of a pair of opposites. The principle of polarity is found in every component of the cosmos. Each manifested quality or group of qualities has a different or opposing pole. This is also evident in the principle of thesis and antithesis. Such pairs of opposites form the 2 opposing poles of a larger unity into which they are combined.
“Every single part of the manifested qualities or groups of qualities in the cosmos has its other or opposite pole. A „pair of opposites” consists of two opposite poles of a greater thing into which they can be brought together.“6
The principle of polarity is also often referred to as the “pair of opposites” and was also given special attention by the followers of Pythagoras and the ancient Hermeticists. It can be found in Traditional Chinese Medicine as Yin and Yang, but also in many other principles such as positive and negative, female and male, day and night, front and back, hot and cold, sharp and dull, above and below, light and dark, large and small, etc.
This dualism is found everywhere in nature. Two opposing things are mutually dependent and eventually form a whole like the two sides of a coin. Each thing is a half, and another thing is stimulated by that half, so that a whole eventually emerges. The synthesis is thus the unity of two opposing poles. In the human body, we find the same principle in inhalation and exhalation, in systole and diastole of the heart, in balancing the amount and quality of fluids in the body, and in many other places. This dualism is also representative of spirit and matter or wave and particle.
In addition to this duality, Pythagoras described in his doctrine Hylozoics the third force, which arises from the union of spirit and matter, and this force is consciousness, the soul of all things. “Consciousness permeates all substance and underlies all forms, an atom, a man, a planet, or a solar system. By taking on a form, we realize our own special state of consciousness and strengthen our vibration. This allows us to recognize ourselves as existing beings.
The One reveals itself in diversity and yet remains unchanged. When time and space cease to exist, as they are only states of consciousness, only unity remains, and only the spirit will continue with increased vibrational activity and the ability to intensify the light as the cycle of manifestation returns.”7
Consciousness corresponds to the term “information”, which we use later in the description of information medicine. So instead of “matter, energy and information”, one could also use “matter, energy and consciousness” in the sense of Pythagoras.
All things are in balance. All activities in the cosmos are balanced, manifesting a state of equilibrium, balance and counterbalance.
This law is closely related to the laws of polarity and rhythm. Aristoteles used this law as the basis for his teachings on the golden ratio. The goal is to restore the balance of power or to stay in the middle of the path while balancing the opposing pairs. In the Buddhist sense, Karma results from a disturbance of the cosmic balance. Karma always strives to restore harmony and maintain balance. If one maintains the state of perfect harmony, there is no more Karma.
One thing is set off against another, so that the balance is secured and maintained. We also see this in physics, for example in centripetal and centrifugal forces, which balance each other and create equilibrium. But we also find this principle in growth and reproduction and many other forces of nature. We also find it in our body, for example in the hormonal balance, electrolyte balance, immune system and many other vital parts that must always be balanced in order to function fully. Everything in the cosmos depends on balance and equilibrium. Balance is the key to transformation.
According to the teachings of Buddhism, the causes generated in the current lifetime or in the personal life cannot unfold their full extent in the short period of personal life but only come into full effect in future personal lives. There is, so to speak, an account balance that is entered in the book of personal life and is carried over into the next life.
You should keep in mind that the law of balance and equilibrium also says that you always have to give up something in order to get something. What you want, you have to think about well and choose wisely, and you have to decide what you want most. Then you have to take it or not, but if you take it, you have to expect to pay the price for it. This is the law of balanced equilibrium, which manifests itself in one of the countless forms and phases.
We must also take this law into account in energy medicine. This is also about balance and equilibrium in order to achieve homeostasis and finally harmony in the organism. Harmony is synonymous with health.
These 7 cosmic laws are not independent of each other. They are dependent on each other and are related to each other or support each other. They are mutually dependent, and each of the laws seems to be more or less the reason for the activities of the others. This will become even clearer later when we take a closer look at their corresponding characteristics.
Summary and Relation to Energy Medicine
Energy medicine must take into account that a human or animal organism forms a unity in diversity. This unity is composed of different parts that are interrelated with each other, but every human and every animal is an individual and therefore cannot be treated in a completely equal way.
The principle of analogy and correspondence shows us that our microcosm is a mirror of the macrocosm and also that we are in a close energetic connection with the macrocosm. In therapy, these connections must be taken into account by gaining precise knowledge of our inner and outer energies.
Everything is always in motion, with the aim of balancing and evolving. Stagnation and paralysis of reaction lead to illness and death. In this respect, it is the task of energy medicine to dissolve energetic blockages and eliminate stagnation and thus to maintain the flow and continuous change in accordance with the natural order.
Every disease has a cause, which can be on different levels. The task of energy medicine is to find out what the cause of a certain disease is. The cause can also be a very long time ago and be karmic, so to speak.
Everything is subject to rhythm and periodicity. In addition to the biorhythms in the individual organism, we must also take into account the general rhythms of the cosmos, which are subject to a natural order. Physical decay and death are also part of this rhythm but serve the necessary liberation of the soul from the form (the body) in order to be able to have further experiences in the context of evolution.
Energy medicine must take into account that there is the underlying principle of polarity and that the goal is synthesis, the creation of unity. If one pole is stronger than the other, so to speak, these poles must be balanced again. This is done, for example, in TCM by balancing YIN and YANG.
All life has a certain degree of consciousness or contains information and a will (e.g. the will to live) in addition to energy and matter. The task of energy medicine is to work sensibly with this will, to use it in a targeted manner in the healing process and to eliminate stressful information so that cell communication and homeostasis can be restored.
Energy medicine can only be successful if the therapist and also the patient have the most profound and developed knowledge possible about the energetic processes in the organism in question and also in the surrounding environment and apply this in therapy.
An important prerequisite for healing is that the patient comes into contact with his SELF and begins to develop through self-observation, self-awareness and self-knowledge from a victim role into the role of an active, self-responsible designer of his own life and health. To achieve this, we will follow up some exercises in the second part of the book.
Before we go any further, we must first discuss and define some important terms. Some of these terms are used in completely different contexts and, unfortunately, are often misunderstood.
Attention
Our attention is an important element in making our lives more fulfilling, healthier and happier. If we are able to direct our attention in a targeted manner, we have the key to mastering our lives. Since the energy follows the attention, everything we focus our attention on, will become larger or more energetic. If we focus our attention on illness, illness will receive more energy. If we focus our attention on our victimhood, we will feel more and more like victims of circumstances. If we focus our attention on our anger or fear, it receives energy. Therefore, it is important that we always focus our attention on what we want to manifest in our lives. If we want to maintain or preserve health, our attention must therefore be focused on health.
Consciousness
The level of our consciousness is the decisive factor in determining how far we have come in our personal development. Every living thing, even minerals, has a form of consciousness, as Alice Bailey writes in her wonderful book “The Consciousness of the Atom”8: “The atom is a centre of force, a phase of electrical phenomena, a centre of energy, activated by its own internal structure, which emits heat and radiation. The structure of the atom runs through our entire universe. In addition to elasticity, minerals already possess a form of consciousness and a kind of „discriminatory thinking”, which is expressed in the fact that a certain selection can be made. In the plant kingdom we find a rudimentary sentience in addition to this consciousness, and in the animal kingdom instinct is added.“
About 95% of our daily actions are shaped by our subconscious. We consciously act only for a short period of time during the day. However, many actions, experiences, behavioural patterns and thought patterns are stored in our subconscious that may have helped us in the past but are no longer beneficial to us today. Of course, you can try to get rid of these old thought structures and behavioural patterns and replace them with new ones, but in the end this does not change our state of consciousness. We can only change this by developing our consciousness in the direction of self-consciousness, group consciousness and unity consciousness. We will report more about this later and also show some simple exercises on how to do it.
Roughly speaking, consciousness can be divided as follows
Mass-consciousness:
We find this, for example, in flocks of birds or fish or herd animals. Instinctive consciousness to sustain life and enable the instinctive nature to function properly.
Ego-Consciousness:
We find this in some higher animals and in humans. Here the ego and the “I am” are in the foreground. In animals, of course, we only find this in a rudimentary form, but in humans we find it in a strong
form today, especially in humans who are very ego-centered and only concerned with their own advantage.
Self-Consciousness:
This is about the question “Who am I?”. We find SELF-consciousness in people who have had their first contact with their SELF. This is the first contact with the energy that should actually guide our lives, the soul energy. The more decisions we make that come from this energy, the more we are in touch with our SELF and the more we are able to master our lives and not just react to external circumstances. We are becoming more and more the observer, the director and the creator of our lives, rather than just being an actor dependent on the script.
Group-Consciousness:
The more we have developed our consciousness, the more the ego takes a back seat, and the goals of the group come to the fore. This means that not only one’s own well-being or the well-being of friends and family is the focus of action, but also the common good or the well-being of a larger group.
Unity-Consciousness:
