How to use this book

Howtousethis book?

I recommend you read the book once all the way through for all three sections so that you can get the absolute most value before you begin your trip. I want you to be informed so you can make healthy and wise decisions that will enrich your journey. Section 1 is about how to travel with checklists. Section 2 is my system from section 1 simplified and shortened, so it is practical for you to use repeatedly. Section 3 contains the answers to the 40 questions.

This book is designed for all types of travel. Traveling is not a competition. Traveling frees the mind, and that is what I would like everyone to experience. I do not need to convince you of how amazing traveling is; by reading this, I assume you have already decided to travel. I am here to make your travel experiences easier, so you become fearless, competent, and confident for your journey ahead. I hope you have the best time of your life on your journeys and adventures. I hope that your travels fulfill your heart and mind with wonderful experiences. Let's Begin!

Section 1 Introduction

Iknowthepain that travel can bring; the confusion, asking myself, “Am I doing this correctly?”

Through much frustration and learning hard lessons on the road, I knew I had to simplify travel for myself. I traveled through 18 countries. I noticed some repetitive things that seemed to happen almost every time I travel. I thought if I am going to be traveling for the rest of my life, I might as well write stuff down to make it easier on myself.

I simply want to show you how I travel with low stress and frustration. The travel system I created is what I use and will continue to do so because my methods are rooted in timeless practices. This book is regularly updated. So, what is my version of fearless travel? The answer is: My priorities enable me to conquer my fears and continue pushing the limits of what is possible for me. My priorities during travel are 3 things. Spirituality being the top priority, mindset the second, and health is my third.

1) spirituality

2) mindset

3) health (emotional and physical)

I know that if I keep these priorities in balance, my journey will be less stressful and more fun!

I have found these three things are accelerators and decelerators in travel. Spiritually means believing and having faith to move towards your dreams. The mindset means having the right information and thinking properly. Health is about getting your body to help you. When fear creeps up, breathe. Perform the breathing technique I’ve included below. Focus on listening. Run your mouth appropriately. Make logical plans when you travel. Have faith that you will be alright and that you deserve abundance in life.

Throughout my travels, I have encountered many different religious beliefs. Respecting other people's beliefs is something that we travelers are very good at doing. Trusting in a higher power is how fears can dissipate. No matter your religious beliefs, I think prioritizing spirituality is how you will, and can, deal with the many challenges that come up. My opinion is that interacting and communicating amongst people is a spiritual activity in itself. We are all human beings, and it is amazing to see, experience, and appreciate the differences and similarities we share.

What I noticed among fellow travelers, especially long-term travelers, was their dedication to the mind. Meditation is a common topic of discussion that I kept encountering—meditation and philosophy (lol). Many years ago, I dabbled with meditation. I did not think much of it at first. However, after seeing how important it was to other people, I reexamined meditation. My opinion now is that meditation is a tool that is extremely important for a healthy mind.

You will encounter many different kinds of people along your journey, so with a healthy mindset, you will be able to communicate better and know how to deal with different situations as they arise. These days, meditations are part of my morning routine, and I start my mornings with a 10-minute meditation, and I do my best to be consistent with it. I like to quiet my mind before the day begins so that I am better able to go about my day. I can approach my day in a calm, methodical way instead of rushing.

If our mindset is healthy, that means we are most likely thinking healthy, proactive thoughts. If we think of healthy thoughts, then we are more likely to take healthy actions. When we are out in the world, proper knowledge and use of that knowledge will enhance our travels. We have the knowledge in this book and other books to prepare us for the road. I also recommend journaling your thoughts and experiences to strengthen the mind.

The third priority is health. Traveling takes a toll on our emotions and bodies. Body pains are what everyone experiences. Body pains can be minimized with stretching, medicine, supplements, and ice. Before even beginning your journey, I recommend your daily food intake has enough Vitamin C, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3, minerals like magnesium, zinc, and iron. We want to boost our immune system so that we can enjoy our journey.

I recommend stretching regularly because you will be walking a lot. If you're the adventurous type, strain will be put on your body by all the hiking, ziplining, and other strenuous activities you’ll get up to. With stretching, we are being proactive with our health, and we can enjoy the beautiful world we are in. If health is not prioritized, then there is a risk of showing up to your dream location in an unhealthy state. Who wants that? Being in an exotic location while experiencing health issues is what we want to avoid. If we get healthier, we get to do more and enjoy more. There are also many different approaches to health globally, which can be very intriguing.

What I think is not discussed enough is the emotional impact of travel. Say, for example, you meet a person along your journey that is ultra negative, and you cannot let go of how wrong that person was and how right you were in your conversation. That could occupy your mind for a long time and take you out of the beauty of your experience. You could even lose sleep. Instead of enjoying time with traveling companions, we could easily get pulled into our emotions.

Monitoring our emotions is so that we are not hurting others or ourselves. We can choose to be kind to ourselves. My technique for emotional management is breathing. I will tell you how I do it. When I get a moment, I close my mouth and breath deeply in and out with my nose only five times. Try it now if you want to experience immediate relaxation and awareness. Take 5 slow deep breaths using only your nose. Take your time, do it slowly. 5 proper breaths are all it takes to reorient your attention away from external and focus on the presence.

Emotional Management and Calmness Exercise:

-Close mouth

-Breathe in slowly and deeply through the nose for 4 seconds

-Hold your breath in for 2-7 seconds, but be comfortable with it, not strenuous.

-Slowly breathe out, releasing all of the air out of your lungs, release air in a controlled manner for about 4 seconds.

-Control your breath and repeat 5 times until you are calm and present.

Travel will challenge your notions of what is normal, so be prepared to embrace the newness of it all. Perception is not reality. Perception is our opinion of a situation and is based on emotion in some aspects because many of our experiences are subjective.

So that is how I fearlessly travel. The rest of the book will be about checklists, information, and the answers to these 40 questions. The answers are in section 3 of the book.
