CHAPTER ONE

Mulambia Kondowe is the Chief of a little town known as Nkumbwhisha in the highlands of Zambia and is married to Kaumba Mazuba – Kondowe a very well-known South African abstract artist. They have one child, a daughter they named Nandi Kaumba Mazuba – Kondowe who is an up and coming landscape artist often commuting between Zambia and South Africa and wherever her art takes her of course.

When they say that opposites attract, Mulambia and Kaumba are the perfect example. They met at university; Mulambia was studying political science at the time while Kaumba was studying the arts. They met by chance actually, Kaumba was to showcase some of her paintings at the local gallery and Mulambia lost a bet with a friend and had to escort him to the art exhibit which Kaumba was showcasing at.

While there, Mulambia’s friend all but abandoned him and Mulambia was left to wonder the halls of the exhibit on his own and that was when he caught the eye of Kaumba. She was all of a sudden drawn to this man that was wondering the halls all by his lonesome and she could not help but approach him.

“So what do you think?” Kaumba asks Mulambia once she is in earshot of him.

“It looks like a car; I think I can see the headlights” Mulambia answeres back without looking at Kaumba.

“Actually it’s a female orgasm” Kaumba retorts back and that makes Mulambia finally turn his head towards Kaumba in utter shock.

“I didn’t know that” Mulambia says after he regains his composure from the shock of Kaumba’s beauty beside him.

“I’m Kaumba by the way, the creator of this fine painting” Kaumba says in order to lighten the mood.

“I’m Mulambia pretending to be an art connoisseur” Mulambia says as he extends his hand towards Kaumba and when their hands touch for the very first time and the shocks spread throughout their bodies, they both knew that it is just the beginning of an epic love story.

CHAPTER TWO

Commuting between Zambia and South Africa is every art major’s dream after graduating from university and to think that I had the privilege of doing it from a tender age because of my mother’s work was pretty adventurous in my books.

Getting on a plane and flying off to the exotic little known country of Nermere was definitely bucket list worthy. Looking back, the sequence of events that led to me getting on the plane in the first place feels like something straight out of a fairy tale.

I had just gotten out of the car with my Mama from the airport when Chanozya came racing towards me with a fancy looking envelope in hand. ”Hurry up and open it already! I’ve been staring at it all week long and I can’t take it any longer!” Chanozya demanded as she shoved the envelope into my hand.

“Alright, hold on” I responded as I proceeded to carefully open the envelope. What I read had my eyes almost popping out of my sockets. Apparently I had invited by the Prince of Neremere Prince Alinjavwa Bota, to spearhead a new arts programme.

“Oh give it to me!” Chanozya said in an irritated voice after she saw that I was not going to the read the contents out loud.

“Oh my, you must leave at once! I will go get your things packed!” Chanozya said in glee before she once again shoved the paper into my hand and skipped off in glee.

“Do you actually plan on going?” Mama asked as we made our way into the Palace and yes that’s right, my parents live in a Palace.

“I honestly have no idea, what do you think?” I asked Mama.

“Well if I were you I would be packing all of my art supplies as we speak and I am sure that your father would not object. It’s high time that you spread your wings beyond Zambia and South Africa. I’m surprised that you haven’t felt like a bird in a cage all of this years” Mama responded as she lovingly held my hand in hers.

And so my mind was made up leading to me getting on a plane having no idea what exactly the Prince wanted my advice for but such is life, living on a whim and whatnot. So here is to new adventures.

CHAPTER THREE

At the age of eighteen and sixteen respectively, King Njavwa and Prince Alinjavwa Bota lost both of their parents in a car crash who were the then King and Queen of Nermere. What this meant was that Njavwa automatically became King and because of his age, Njavwa was not obligated to be married before he took the crown.

And so at the age of twenty four, King Njavwa had still not yet been married and his subjects were starting to suspect that he was either gay or that something was seriously wrong with him.

“Miss Mazuba – Kondowe welcome to Neremere” Prince Alinjavwa said as he extended his hand towards me.

“Your majesty, thank you so much for the invitation” I said with as much respect as I could muster up and I even added a little curtsy as I shook his hand.

“No need for such formalities, how about you call me Alinjavwa and I call you Nandi?” Prince Alinjavwa asked as we fell in step with each other.

“Of course” I responded with a little smile on my face.
