Dear Reader,
It is February in the year 2021 when I decide to write this book. At this point, I have been looking for a long time for books that help me to visualise a better future and create anticipation for the new times to come. Because it is clear that something has to change. But where exactly is change necessary? Where can I dare to take steps in the right direction? That's what I wanted to know. My first thought was: Everything, everything must change. But it could be a little more specific.
This book is a collection of the most important topics in my opinion. None of them can stand alone and each deserves a closer look. But I believe that everyone has a different focus and you should choose the one you are intuitively drawn to. Often one thing leads to another because all the topics are interconnected.
I myself have spent countless hours on research - but it must be said that the accumulation of knowledge is one of my hobbies. It's important never to be a sponge in the process, but to be a filter. Listen to your own inner voice. Is your reading logical and does it make sense to you? If so, you can take it into account. If not, wait or eliminate it for now. I believe that logic is an inner guide that is given to us along with our conscience. Logic comes from Latin and means "the word". The Bible says, "In the beginning was the Word". So, if we are unsure about something, we can always ask ourselves: Is it logical? If it is not, then the information is often false.
But beware! Just because we've never heard of something doesn't automatically make it illogical. It's just unknown, and so it can still be true.
Another important point for me is whether the information "sounds" within me. How does my inner self react to it? Does it resonate? When it comes to knowing if something is true, our inner voice is a reliable indicator.
We're living in an ever more rapidly changing time, and not just because of various "microbes" that have profoundly changed everyone's life. They have deepened in me the desire to contribute to this transformation.
So, in this book, I would like to share with you my vision of how to live in a village of the future. The best possible version I have created in my mind. For as long as I can remember, the longing for change has been within me. I've been inspired by countless books I've read, by travelling the world and by listening to other people I've asked about their hopes for a new era. You should be prepared to embrace a certain utopia, to break down the barriers in your head and dream freely when reading these visions.
For some, the first few chapters may be a little uncomfortable to read, as they describe the current state of the world, which is in desperate need of change in so many areas. I'll be happy if you're all the more motivated to engage with my vision afterwards.
Because I ask myself: is there an alternative to the much-vaunted "Great Reset"? To digitalisation and the forced globalisation of the world, to the equalisation and eradication of individuality and freedom?
Astonishingly, the very people who are making the above plans and causing the very problems we are currently struggling with are the very ones who are trying to "save" us into a supposedly better world. Shouldn't it then be up to us to take responsibility for ourselves and to single-handedly help to shape the kind of world we want to live in?
Most books specialise in a particular subject. Whether it is urgently needed changes in education, finance, agriculture or political structure, there are great thinkers, people with vision and expertise.
In my personal vision of living in - let's call it Village 2.0 - the world as I can best imagine it, I will list various areas but not go into detail, because I am interested in thought-provoking ideas, not closed solutions.

Part 1
We live in a village in the south of Germany, of which there are certainly many and yet none can be compared to the other. The search for a place to live after a trip around the world with the children has brought us here, or as I see it, we were sent here.
Without a prospect of a domicile to live in with the children when we return, we left the country for six months in 2018. I don't need to tell anyone about the current housing market, anyone who lives in their own home or has a flat with a fair rent is grateful. However, there was a deep trust in us that made us dare to take this step anyway. My sister regularly provided me with the latest property advertisements from home, but nothing seemed suitable. After all, we had certain expectations: it had to be at least four rooms, on the ground floor with a garden, but it still had to fit into our limited monthly budget. A separate entrance would be great, maybe a wood-burning stove...
„Anything else? “ was the question my sister asked herself in silence.
Then, during our stay in Tokyo, the decisive ad came. I knew immediately that this was to be our new flat. It fulfilled almost all our wishes. So, we applied for it, but without success. Afterwards, we found out that there were too many interested parties and the landlord simply stopped responding. Thanks to the help of our acquaintances, however, we got the mobile number of the landlord, who was also informed in advance about our contact. My sister, together with my mother, had the pleasure of viewing the flat with many other applicants. The feedback from my family was positive, so we filled out the application forms and sent them to the landlord by email. In fact, we were accepted for the flat in Australia and the signed tenancy agreement made its way around the world.
This story shows quite well why I think we are meant to live right here, and even a perpetual traveller like me, may have to settle down one day, at least temporarily. In the last few years, we have settled in very well here. Both we and the children have made new friends and we all enjoy the benefits of village life. I don't necessarily meet with profound understanding here when I mention the desire for big changes, but I do meet with open ears and sometimes indeed like-minded people.
For I am preoccupied with the question of what it would look like here if we were all even more firmly connected as a community? If children and old people, young people and families would strive to make this village an almost perfect place by working together? Everyone would do their part, has a task and no one can be dispensed with, because the village is all of us. It is clear to me that the vision of my desired future has to be in a village. For a community to function as a healthy organism, it must not exceed a certain size.
For as long as I can remember, the feeling of not quite belonging has accompanied me, because my view of things was already different as a child. I have never been satisfied with a "that's just the way it is" and a "no" is usually the reason for me to look for other possibilities to reach my goal.
This strong will combined with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge certainly often makes me a challenge for my family and fellow human beings. I am a "revolutionary", one who always asks questions that cannot be easily answered, who puts her finger in the wound and somehow does everything differently.
But I have the conviction that good will always find a way of implementation. We don't have to waste so much thought on how, but simply know where we want to go. The path that is then found is something we could never have imagined beforehand.
Rather, we should be careful not to keep our dreams artificially small, because the mind says that this is not possible anyway or cannot work at all. However, as our search for a flat while travelling shows, we are allowed to be surprised again more often.
I wish that people would think BIG, not thinking of their own advantage or profit, but in good will.
Many conversations have shown how difficult it is for most people to commit to a future of their dreams, even mentally. I noticed this especially when I asked people about their visions for a perfect future.
Our minds are dominated by boundaries that we have been taught, that we have set up based on experiences, religions and supposed education. Now is the time to learn to push them aside.
Let's take a look at the world as it is today. It is far from the state I would like it to be. But it is exactly as we have created it ourselves with our thoughts, words and deeds. Almost more important are the things we have accepted without rebelling against them, even though we disagree with them. Far too often we choose to look away and remain in comfort.
Quite amazing is also the phenomenon of "not wanting to know" and this in a time where we have free access to almost all information. We just have to get the smartphone out of our pocket and off we go! Instead, we settle for preconceived news prepared for us. Even if we skip the TV and don't read the newspaper, we can live relaxed in our bubble with the algorithm adapted to us and are not unintentionally confronted with polarising information. This applies to both the „alternative thinkers“ and the "mainstreamers". It is always up to us to question our own truth. That we do not do this enough is evident in the world as it is today.
Our wonderful "Mother Earth" has become the scene of unimaginable cruelty and inhumanity and we have all played our part in some way.
Everyone has heard of:
the clearing of the rainforest
factory farming
corruption at almost every level of our political and social world
misguided science
child abuse
human trafficking
countless offences against our nature
plastic and its consequences
child labour
child soldiers (in general, children have been the ones to suffer for far too long)
the constant decimation of marine life
the deliberate betrayal of indigenous peoples and their rights on almost all continents and islands.
pornography and prostitution in every form, their origins and consequences
genetic manipulation
hunger and misery worldwide
slavery (yes, even today!)
the extinction of a multitude of animal and plant species
the monetary system as the origin of almost all current problems
arbitrariness of authorities
satanism
...
This list can be continued at will, which makes it all the sadder. Take some time and think about which of these topics you have dealt with intensively. Have you researched, found answers and solutions and tried to implement them? Surely this applies to one or the other.
But the fact that so many remain, leads us to think that it is not worth the effort anyway and that we alone cannot do anything about it.
This belief system prevents us from taking action and living change. Because when we understand that change in small things heals the big things, then we will live in the world we want inside.
When we realise that we often don't have to go that far and deal with the big problems of this world, at least not permanently, then we can start with ourselves to make the world a better place and I don't just mean our choice of products in the supermarket. What we tend to underestimate is that it already helps if we make ourselves aware of problems. It makes us alert and we can react differently when we are confronted with them.
But what kind of world would we live in if we start to look at ourselves, our gifts, but also our bad habits and strengthen one side and work on the other specifically. As with the big problems in the world, it is also enough here if we become aware of our weaknesses. Then it is easier for us to reflect on our behaviour and gradually change it.
In the following, I have listed some behaviours that we may not attach so much importance to, but which have a great impact. Maybe you feel addressed by one or two of them. For me, for example, impatience is a real challenge that I am always working on.
What would it be like if we gave our fellow human beings, nature, animals and especially our children, the time they need? What effect would that have on our world?
If no one is causing anyone stress at the supermarket checkout or on the motorway, we no longer rushed the children to get ready in the morning and instead we relaxed and waited for answers, which often only take so long because we are all at the limits of our capacity. How does it feel when you imagine that energy? Are those few minutes we gain from all the stress worth being in a bad mood, making others feel uncomfortable or thinking badly of those around us? I don't think so. But I do believe that if we were willing to give ourselves that serenity right now, it would lift our energy and therefore our world incredibly.
We all know people whose personalities are unpredictable every day. The negative aura can be felt from afar and you hope that nothing will happen to you or that the contact can be kept as short as possible. Is this how we want to be perceived by those around us? Very few people would confirm this.
