ZENDO
A Zen Meditation Hall, or Zendo, need not always be very big. On the internet these days, now being early 2016, one usually sees photo images on photo websites with images of Zen temples all being very rich, big, or smaller, and very beautiful. Extremely well looked after, they appear to be….not only the buildings, but the gardens, raked stones, and ponds as well. This is Japanese style….traditional style made possible over centuries of continually being well funded, and their people having time to be artful about every aspect of the material temple and its grounds….all to do with being part of nature and the universe too.
Zen Master in Berlin was a young medical student when he first met a picture book of the ten bulls of Zen, drawings, I imagine, and was inspired to enquire further into all this mysterious Zen stuff….far more inspiring to him than the German Lutheran, and Catholic Christian influences and mind, heart and trusting belief ways, or blind faith of his people of his day, place and time in Berlin, after the WW II years . He took up Zen meditation and Zen training, soon enough meeting a Master from Japan visiting Berlin, and he continued with his enquiries and meditation, spiritually-revelatory practice for many years, meeting further Zen Masters until meeting up with his real Master.
