Challenging Girl:
I was a high school student, I was not very smart, I was very shy in school, and I could not talk much home and school. I used to live with my parents in a tiny place Lalpur in Hura. I have a best friend Jimmy whom I used to love a lot and I have some classmates Mavis, Todd, Jane. I could not sing but my friends sing well as they learn singing since their childhood. When I was 12th standard, suddenly I thought that I will take the music as the main subject. The subject was depicted on Hindustani classical music, Western music, Bengali folk song, Kirtan, Shyama Sangeet, and Rabindra Sangeet. I just got only six months to appear my final exam. Hence I took the music subject as the main subject.
My music teacher in school named Mr. Jack Willson used to tell me that “you will not pass in the subject” as I do not have any knowledge about it. He used to scold me at times in front of my friends in school. He was keeping on saying that it is impossible for me to come over the subject. My friends Mavis and Todd asked me to leave the subject as I can not sing at all. They said to me that ‘a bad penny always turns up”. Though, they are very good at singing with all the musical instruments.
Now it’s my turn to sing, I took it as a main priority and I asked my father to find a music teacher for me because 'I want to learn music', he was shocked and he asked me that “can you do that? Is it possible? I said to him” yes, I will try”. Finally, I got a teacher who used to come teaching me singing at our home once a week. After three months, my home teacher stopped teaching me because we are very poor and my father was unable to pay him. I never gave up leaning the music from the beginning with scale-like A, B, C.
One of my friends named Jane used to sing well, Jane used to make me listen to her voice and asked me to sing with her. I used to follow her voice and rhyme which was very difficult for me to sing without knowing any scale. She started helping me how to sing.
Four months later, I tried to sing a song in my music class, but my music teacher Mr. Jack Wilson asked me to leave the subject, as I could not even perform a single line of a song with music at all. Our principal asked me to change the subject to other subjects. He thought that” I might not score well”. Principal, my music teacher and my some friends were asking me to leave the subject. There was no supporter of me. Still, I feel that” I can do, if I cannot do then no one can”. Then I hold the situation positively. I practiced hard and I practiced all most all day with music along with other subjects.
