All people who are interested in acquiring and bolstering their expert status through the utilization of AI and the development of their knowledge should be interested in this opportunity. The strategy that I outline in this book is built on the following three fundamental steps:

Developing one's expertise: Artificial intelligence is no longer an idea from the distant future but rather a reality that people experience every day. To be successful in this new era, we need to arm ourselves with the knowledge and abilities necessary to make good use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Positioning: When we have attained the necessary level of knowledge, the next step will be to place oneself inside our industry. This requires presenting our one-of-a-kind abilities and expertise in a manner that distinguishes us from the rest of the pack and establishes us as authorities in our area.

Obtaining an expert status: After we have determined where we are in the market, the next step is to focus on establishing yourself as an expert in our field. This entails employing AI-based tools and methods in our efforts to solidify our position as the preeminent authority in our industry.

If we follow these three steps, not only will we be able to develop in our jobs, but we will also be able to contribute to a future that is innovative, efficient, and forward-thinking.

With the aid of this book, I want to be able to present you with a concise and practical mission statement that will be of assistance to you on your path to becoming an expert. Because I think that everyone of us has the ability to become an expert, and because I think that AI is an extremely powerful tool that can help us along the route to becoming experts, I will explain why.

Chapter 1: Definition and basics of artificial intelligence

1.1 Introduction to the concepts and basics of AI

When we conceive of artificial intelligence (AI), we generally imagine situations from the far future in which robots carry out difficult jobs or operate on their own without human intervention. However, the reality is slightly different since AI has now deeply permeated our everyday lives and is helping us in many different areas, from online shopping to medical diagnostics. The truth is somewhat different because AI has now deeply permeated our everyday lives. But what exactly do we mean when we talk about artificial intelligence, and whose ideas underpin it?

The term "artificial intelligence" refers to the capacity of computer systems to carry out activities that would typically need the participation of humans or the intellect of humans. This might entail not just sensing the world and analyzing facts, but also finding solutions to difficult situations or gaining knowledge via experience. The most important thing to take away from this is the fact that AI systems are now capable of imitating and even surpassing human cognitive processes.

There are two primary categories of artificial intelligence (AI): weak AI and strong AI. Weak artificial intelligence, often referred to as narrow artificial intelligence, is capable of completing a limited set of activities, such as responding to user requests in a search engine or forecasting future weather patterns. On the other hand, strong artificial intelligence, often referred to as general artificial intelligence, is a theoretical idea in which a machine possesses broad intellect equivalent to that of humans and is capable of doing tasks in a range of circumstances. This type of AI is still in its infancy.

Machine learning, deep neural networks, and natural language processing (also known as NLP) are some of the core principles and technologies behind artificial intelligence. Machine learning is a technology that enables computer systems to learn from data and make predictions or judgments without being explicitly programmed. It does this through a process known as "machine learning." Deep neural networks are a form of machine learning that can identify complicated patterns in enormous volumes of data. They are based on the structure of the human brain. The field of Natural Language Processing, on the other hand, is concerned with the interaction of computers and human language. This field makes it possible for computers to comprehend, interpret, and produce text.

Artificial intelligence has the potential to bring about profound shifts in both the ways in which we live and the ways in which we work, enabling us to behave in a manner that is both more effective and more well-informed. However, just like any other strong instrument, AI comes with its own set of dangers and problems, which we will need to recognize and figure out how to handle. Because of this, having a solid understanding of the principles of AI as well as its applications in a variety of settings is very necessary.

The Development of Artificial Intelligence Throughout History

Our travel through time into the history of artificial intelligence does not start in the most recent few decades, but rather extends all the way back to ancient times. Even back then, individuals fantasized of creating computers that might compete with or even surpass the capabilities of the human brain. But the 20th century is generally considered to be the beginning of AI in its modern form.

In the 1940s and 1950s, researchers began to create the theoretical underpinnings for what they dubbed "electronic brains," which was the first step toward the development of artificial intelligence. The construction of the first fully functional computer, known as the ENIAC, was a significant step along this route. Despite its enormous size and limited capabilities, the ENIAC was essential in laying the groundwork for the creation of artificial intelligence.

At the illustrious Dartmouth Conference in 1956, the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) was introduced to the world formally for the first time. A group of scientists, including John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky, came up with the phrase "artificial intelligence" and described their ambitions and aims for this burgeoning field of study at the same time.

In the decades that followed, artificial intelligence went through a succession of ups and downs that are collectively referred to as "AI winters." During these periods, early enthusiasm was replaced by disappointment when expectations were not reached, and the term "AI winters" was coined to describe this phenomenon. However, despite these ups and downs, continuous research has led to significant advances in fields such as expert systems, machine learning, and robotic autonomy.

The years between the 1990s and the 2000s finally marked a turning point for artificial intelligence (AI), since this was the period during which breakthroughs in computer power and algorithms, in addition to the availability of large amounts of data, made it possible to put AI applications into practice. During this time period, significant technological advances including neural networks, genetic algorithms, and support vector machines came into being.

It is difficult to fathom how we might go about our daily lives in the year 2020 without the assistance of AI systems. They are included into our mobile devices, vehicles, and other home equipment, and they assist in the diagnosis of medical conditions as well as the search for information on the internet. A tremendous transformation has taken place in AI, and it's possible that we're just at the beginning of what it's still capable of doing. Despite this, it is essential to have a working knowledge of AI's past in order to comprehend where we have been, as well as the problems and opportunities that lie ahead.

Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning each have their own distinct characteristics.

When discussing the realm of technology, we frequently come across terminology that conjure up images of cutting-edge computer systems and novel approaches. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL) are three terminologies that fall within this category. Despite the fact that they are frequently used interchangeably, there are significant distinctions between them that we need to be aware of in order to comprehend the particular uses and possibilities that each offers.

Let's begin with Artificial Intelligence, which is a catch-all phrase that refers to a large variety of different ideas. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the process by which computers, specifically computer systems, attempt to imitate human intelligence. These processes consist of learning (the acquisition of knowledge and rules for using the information), reasoning (the application of rules to derive concrete or abstract conclusions), and self-correction. Learning refers to the process of acquiring information and rules for utilizing the information. An artificial intelligence (AI) is said to be either weak (also known as specific) if it is designed to accomplish only one particular activity or powerful (also known as general) if it is able to perform any and all mental activities that a human being is capable of.

Machine learning is an area of artificial intelligence that focuses on the development of algorithms that enable computers to learn from data and improve their performance without the need for explicit programming. The fundamental premise of machine learning is that a computer program or model can analyze data, identify patterns and correlations within that data, and then utilize those insights to generate predictions or judgments about what will happen.

Deep learning, on the other hand, is a subset of machine learning that is based on artificial neural networks, in particular the so-called deep neural networks. These networks are considered "deep" because they include multiple layers, each of which filters the data that passes through them. Throughout the process, they "learn" increasingly sophisticated aspects of the data. Deep learning excels in the management of unstructured and complicated data, such as that which is present in photos, audio, or text, and it does this particularly well.

To have a better understanding of the subtleties and uses of each technology, it is essential to have a firm grip on these distinctions. While artificial intelligence (AI) is meant to be seen as a more general concept, machine learning and deep learning are examples of more particular methodologies and approaches that may be categorized under this overarching heading. These technologies continue to develop and usher in novel possibilities and uses throughout the course of time, which has the potential to radically alter the way in which we work and live.

1.2 The role of artificial intelligence in today's world

Practical examples for the application of AI in everyday life

It's no longer just an idea from science fiction books or movies set in the future. Artificial intelligence is already a real thing. It has become ingrained in our routines, affecting not just how we work and study but also how we pass our leisure time and how we choose to spend it. In the following, we will take a look at several real-life instances that show the application of AI in the modern world.

Let's begin with a piece of technology that the majority of us use on a daily basis: our smartphones. AI is the foundation for voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and the Google Assistant that operate on these gadgets. They are able to comprehend and react to genuine speech by performing actions like as looking for information, scheduling appointments, or reminding us of essential responsibilities.

Streaming services such as Netflix and Spotify are employing AI to revolutionize the way that people listen to music and view movies. This is happening in the entertainment industry. They do an analysis of our preferences and routines using machine learning, after which they provide us personalized recommendations that are specifically suited to our own unique preferences.

The field of electronic commerce is another one that relies heavily on AI. Online retailers such as Amazon utilize AI algorithms to provide buy suggestions for customers based on their previous purchasing behavior and the preferences of other customers who shop at the same store. The convenience and personalization of the online buying experience are both increased by the use of these individualized recommendations.

Additionally, AI is finding applications in essential fields like the medical industry. In this context, artificial intelligence systems can evaluate huge volumes of health data to assist medical professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. They are even able to assist in the prediction of illness outbreaks and the evaluation of the efficacy of new medications.

Artificial intelligence is paving the way for the creation of self-driving automobiles in the transportation sector. These cars are able to sense their surroundings, understand the meaning of traffic signals, and drive the road in a secure manner thanks to the use of sensors and cameras as well as cutting-edge AI technology.

These are just some of the ways that we may use artificial intelligence in our day-to-day lives. It is possible that artificial intelligence will have an effect on practically every facet of our society, from the ways in which we interact and work to the ways in which we study and enjoy ourselves. This is a technological advancement that brings with it both fascinating prospects and difficult obstacles. But one thing is certain: artificial intelligence is here to stay.
