Your overall diet matters, because overall good nutrition leads to good health. It is discovered that unhealthy eating habits can impair fertility. There is even stronger evidence that your weight affects your fertility. (Excess of fat in the body can cause infertility.)
Certain nutrients play a vital role in the reproductive system - and what we eat is an important way to obtain these nutrients. Eating nutrient-rich foods is generally safer than concentrated supplements. The exception is folic acid - most doctors recommend taking a folic acid supplement when you are trying to get pregnant. Because many fertility superfoods have contained important nutrients for fertility health, this is a good enough reason to add them to your diet.
Infertility is when you unable to get pregnant or staying pregnant. Fertility problems can occur in men and women and can have many causes. This is why the husband and the wife are usually tested for infertility if a couple is having trouble getting pregnant. What really causes infertility is a condition of the reproductive system that impedes the conception of children. It affects approximately 10 to 15% of couples in the United States. The diagnosis of infertility is usually given to couples who have been trying to get pregnant for at least 1 year without success.
It is commonly believed that infertility is primarily related to women. In fact, only a third of infertility cases are related only to women. Information collected says, one-third of infertility problems are related to men, and the remaining third is a combination of fertility factors involving partners or unknown causes. Unknown causes are responsible for approximately twenty percent of infertility cases.
Causes of infertility in men
Infertility in men can be caused by-
Trauma
Varicocele
Sperm damage
Premature ejaculation
Low or no sperm
Alcohol use
Certain diseases such as:
Diabetes
Cystic fibrosis
Autoimmune diseases
Infections
Hormonal disorders
Genetic disorders
Other causes include:
Smoking
Toxins
Age
Alcohol and drug use
Health problems such as obesity
Medications such as testosterone
Radiation and testicular heat
Chemotherapy
Gonorrhea
Mumps or HIV
Tobacco use: Smoking tobacco or marijuana by either partner reduces the chances of pregnancy. Smoking also reduces the possible benefits of fertility treatment. Abortions are more common in women who smoke. Smoking can add to the risk of erectile dysfunction and a low sperm count in men.
Alcohol use: For women, there is no safe level of alcohol consumption during conception or pregnancy. Avoid alcohol totally if you plan to get pregnant. Alcohol consumption increases the risk of birth defects and may lead to infertility. For men, heavy use of alcohol can decrease sperm count and motility.

Being overweight: Among American women, an inactive and overweight lifestyle may increase the risk of infertility. A man's sperm count can also be affected if he is overweight.
Be underweight: Women at risk of fertility problems include those with eating disorders, such as anorexia or bulimia, and women following a restrictive or very low-calorie diet.
Exercise issues: Engaging not in exercise contributes to obesity, which adds to the risk of infertility. Sometimes, ovulation problems can be associated with strenuous exercise in overweight women.
Infertility in women

Polycystic ovary syndrome
Blocked fallopian tubes
