When it comes to making crochet blankets, corner-to-corner is quickly becoming our new favorite. And really, what’s not to love? Worked in a solid color, it makes a deeply textured fabric. But work it in multiple colors, and the sky’s the limit. Seriously — you can work any grid-based color chart with the corner-to-corner technique.
Corner-to-corner crochet (often just called C2C crochet) is a terrific technique to add to your wheelhouse. With C2C crochet, you begin in the corner of a crochet project, typically a crochet blanket or afghan square, and work towards the other corner in a way that produces a finished project that looks like a textured, layered version of the classic granny square. It is a unique technique with an original look but it builds upon basic crochet skills, which makes it is surprisingly easy to learn. This guide shows you how to learn corner to corner crochet and showcases some of the best C2C crochet patterns for practicing the technique.
In this book “CORNER TO CORNER CROCHET”, I will be teaching you everything that is needed to become an expert when it comes to c2c crochet patterns.
The materials, supplies, tools and techniques have been explained in details in this guide that even a beginner can assimilate easily.
I have also added some C2C project patterns so you could produce projects like; scarf, throws, crochet dear afghan, C2C heart, C2C Afghan zodiacs, C2cC motifs blanket and so much more.

Almost all crochet corner to corner projects begin with a square or rectangular shape. Even outliers, like as the Free Range Cardigan design, are constructed using many rectangular forms. Therefore, learning to crochet a C2C rectangle (or square!) is the most fundamental skill you'll need to acquire. But have no fear; we'll lead you through it step by step. If you prefer to study via video, you can see the c2c rectangle video instruction here.
To crochet a C2C square or rectangle, you must understand how to use the diagonal box stitch to increase and decrease. Combining the two approaches below will allow you to produce any dimension for your square or rectangle.
A little comment about escalation and decrease: You are constantly increasing or decreasing in the initial stitch of corner to corner crochet. There is no such thing as a standard initial stitch that does not grow or decrease. Decreasing is the technical phrase for not growing any more and hence not expanding your project's width/height on that edge.
Increase rows are always the first row in every corner to corner crochet item. You'll add one tile every diagonal row until you reach your chosen dimensions, at which point you'll begin reducing. It's worth noting that if you're creating a rectangle, like I did with my Nordic super scarf, you may want to increase one side of the row and decrease the other in order to maintain the same total number of tiles per row.
Here is a visual tutorial showing how to make the c2c increase stitch step by step, with additional written instructions below the photographs. Increase in C2C crochet is shown in this video instruction.
