Pearl Belt Pattern

Materials:

The Famous “PURITAN” CROCHET COTTON, Article 40

or

“DE LUXE” Quality CROCHET COTTON, Article 346.

2 balls Flamingo or color desired and

1 spool “STAR” Mercerized Sewing Thread, Article 400 to match.

⅛ yd. buckram.

¼ yd. lining material.

160 medium size pearl beads.

3 hooks and eyes.

Aluminum crochet hook size F.

Belt is worked with 4 strands of thread throughout.

Ch 17, s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each remaining st of ch, ch 5, turn.

2nd Row-D c in 1st s c, * skip 2 s c, in next s c work 1 d c, ch 2, 1 d c (shell), repeat from * 3 times, skip 2 s c, d c in end s c, ch 5, turn.

3rd Row-D c in space between next 2 d c, * skip the ch 3 loop, shell in space between next 2 d c, repeat from * 3 times, d c in 3rd st of end ch, ch 5, turn. Repeat last row until work measures 26 inches from beginning or desired length, ch 1 to turn at end of last row.

Next Row-S c in 1st d c, skip next d c, 2 s c in next loop, * s c in next d c, skip next d c, 2 s c in next loop, repeat from * twice, s c in next d c, 2 d c in end loop, cut thread.

FINISHING-Cut buckram same size as belt. Cover entire piece of buckram with lining material. With “STAR” Mercerized Sewing Thread sew seams. Overcast lining to belt. Sew hooks and eyes to short ends of belt on the wrong side. Sew a row of pearls close together at each end of belt. * Sew 3 pearls evenly spaced on next row, 2 pearls evenly spaced on next row, repeat from * across belt ending with a row of 3 pearls.

Straw Pixie Belt Pattern

Materials:

2 Spools FAIRKNIT Straw, Main Color (mc)

1 Spool FAIRKNIT Straw, Contrasting Color (cc)

Steel Crochet Hook #1

Gauge: 6 sc—1"

BELT With cc make a ch long enough to measure around your waist, allowing 3" additional for closing. Work 1 sc in each ch, inc 1 st in last st, ch 1, turn. Work even in sc to end of row, ch 1, turn. Attach mc, work in sc to end of row, inc 1 st in last st, ch 1, turn. Work back even in sc to end of row, ch 1, turn. Attach cc, work in sc to end of row, dec 1 st in last st, ch 1, turn. Work back even in sc. Break straw, fasten off. Attach mc at straight end of belt, and work 2 rows sc around entire belt, working 3 sc in point each time around.

Finishing: sew 2 snap fasteners in place for closing.
