MATERIALS REQUIRED: Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - 5(5-6-6) skeins

 

or

 

Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - 20(22-24-26) ozs

 

1 "Boye" aluminum crochet hook "G" (Size 5)

 

Gauge: 1 pat to 1 inch; 4 rows to 1 inch

 

BACK: Ch 41(44-47-50) loosely to measure about 13½ (14½-15½-16½) inches. Row 1 - Wrong side: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch - 40(43-46-49) sc, ch 3, turn. Row 2: 1 dc in first sc, drawing up first loop to measures about 1 inch, * skip 2 sc, 1 sc in next sc, ch 2, 1 long dc in same sc, repeat from * across, ending 1 sc in last sc - 13(14-15-16) pats, ch 3, turn. Row 3: 1 long dc in first sc, 1 sc in next sc, * ch 3, 1 long dc in same sc, 1 sc in next sc, repeat from * across, ending last sc in turning-ch, ch 3, turn. Repeat Row 3 for pat. Work 8 rows, then inc 1 sc each side every other row 3 times, keeping end sts in sc. Then work 1 more pat each side over the inc'd sts. Continue to inc 1 pat in this manner every 6th row twice more - 19(20-21-22) pats - back measures about 6 inches from start.

 

SLEEVES: Ch 25 at end of next 2 rows for 24 sc - 8 pats each side - 35(36-37-38) pats across row. Work 6 rows, then inc 1 sc each side every other row to add 1 pat each side every 6th row 3 times - 41(42-43-44) pats. Break yarn. Mark center 7(8-7-8) pats for back of neck. Shoulder: Skip 9 pats at sleeve edge, join yarn and work next 8(8-9-9) pats, turn and work 4(4-5-5) pats. Break yarn. Work other shoulder to correspond.

 

LEFT FRONT: Ch 23(26-29-32) for 22(25-28-31) sc to measure about 7½(8½-9½-10½) inches. Work 7(8-9-10) pats for 8 rows, then inc 1 st at side edge every other row 9 times to inc 3 pats - 10(11-12-13) pats across. Front measures same as back to underarm.

 

SLEEVES: Ch 25 at side edge for 24 sc - 8 pats - 18(19-20-21) pats across. Work 6 rows, then inc 1 sc at sleeve edge every other row to add 1 pat every 6th row 3 times - 21(22-23-24) pats AND AT THE SAME TIME when front edge measures 11½ inches work Neck as follows: Work to last 3(4-5-5) pats, ch 3, turn. Work until sleeve measures same as on back. Shoulder: Skip 9(9-9-10) pats at sleeve edge, join yarn and work 8(8-9-9) pats, ch 3 and turn, work 4(4-5-5) pats. Break yarn and fasten.

 

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond to Left Front, reversing the shaping.

 

COLLAR: Ch 47(50-53-56). Work in pat same as on Back - 15(16-17-18) pats across row. Work for 12 rows, break yarn and fasten.

 

Work 2 rows of sc along underarm and lower sleeve edges, then sew underarm and sleeve edges. Sew upper sleeve edges and shoulder seams, holding in extra fullness on front over shoulder.

 

LEFT FRONT BORDER: Starting at lower edge on wrong side, work 6 rows of 60 sc along front edge.

 

RIGHT FRONT BORDER: Work to correspond to Left Front Border, working 5 buttonholes as follows: On 3rd row, starting at neck edge, work 2 sc, * ch 4, skip 4 sc, work 9 sc, repeat from * 3 times more, ch 4, skip 4 sc, work to end of row. Next row work 4 sc over each ch-4.

 

Work 1 row of sc around neck edge, holding in to measure slightly less than collar between front borders. Sew starting ch of collar to neck. Work 2 rows of sc around collar, starting on wrong side. Work 1 row of sc across lower edge and 2 rows across sleeve edges.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

 

Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - 3(3-4-4) skeins

 

or

 

Columbia - Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - 12(14-16-18) ozs

 

1  "Boye" aluminum crochet hook "H" (Size 6), 1 "Boye" steel crochet hook Size 0 and one "Boye" knit­ting needle Size 15 or ⅜-inch diameter rod

 

 

Gauge: Loop Stitch with Size H hook - 3½ sts to 1 inch; 7 rows to 2 inches BACK: With Size H hook ch 53(57-61-65). Row 1: Hold knitting needle at back of work with point toward the right, starting in 2nd ch from hook, * with yarn over knitting needle, draw yarn from under needle through st forming a loop, yo and through the 2 loops on hook, repeat from * sliding knitting needle along the 52(56-60-64) sts, ch 1, turn. Row 2: 1 sc in each st, ch 1, turn. Repeat these 2 rows for pat. Work in pat, inc'ing 1 sc each side every 2 inches 3 times - 58(62-66-70) sts. Work until back measures 8½(8½-9-9) inches. Armholes: * Work to last 2(2-3-3) sts, ch 1, turn, repeat from * once more. Dec 1 st at each side every other row twice - 50(54-56-60) sts. Work until armholes measure 8½(8½-9-9) inches. Shoulders: * Work to last 4 sts, ch 1, turn. Repeat from * 5(7-5-5) times more. Sizes 10, 14 and 16 only * work to last 3(5-6) sts, ch 1, turn. Repeat from * once more. All Sizes: 20(22-22-24) sts rem for back of neck. Break yarn and fasten.

 

LEFT FRONT: Ch 34(36-38-40). Starting in 2nd ch from hook, work in loop st pat on the 33(35-37-39) sts. Inc 1 st at side edge every 1 inch 6 times - 39(41-43-45) sts. Work until front measures same as back to underarm. Armhole: Work to last 3(3-4-4) sts at side edge. Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 4 times. Work until front edge measures 15(15-16-16) inches. Neck: Work to last 12(13-13-14) sts at front edge, turn. Dec 1 st at same edge every row 5 times. Work until armhole measures same as on back. Shoulder: Work to last 5 sts at armhole edge twice, leaving rem'ing 5(6-7-8) sts. Break yarn and fasten. Place markers for 3 buttons, having first marker 2 inches above lower edge and 3rd marker 3½ inches below neck.
