4 cards of yellow rick-rack braid No. 29 ... 21 metal rings.
GAUGE: 5 sps make 4 inches; 2 dc and 2 sc rows make 1½ inches.
Starting at top, make a chain 3 yards long. 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 3, skip, 3 ch, dc in next 2 ch. Repeat from * until there are 109 dc-groups on row (if different size curtain is required, have number of dc-groups divisible by 5 and 4 more at end of row). Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn. 2nd row: Sc in first 2 dc, * ch 3, sc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in top of turning chain. Ch 3, turn.
3rd row: Skip first sc, dc in next sc, * ch 3, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1, turn. Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 22 inches, ending with 2nd row. Ch 3, turn. Next row: Skip first sc, dc in next sc, * 3 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 sc. Repeat from * across. Break off.
POINT ... 1st row: Attach thread to first st on opposite side of starting chain, sc in same place, sc at base of next dc, (ch 3, sc at base of next 2 dc) 3 times. Ch 3, turn. 2nd row: Skip first sc, holding back on hook the last loop of each dc, make dc in next 2 sc, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (joint-dc made), dc in next sc, ch 3, dc in next sc, make a joint-dc over next 2 sc, dc in next sc. Ch 1, turn. 3rd row: Sc in joint dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sc in next dc, sc in next joint dc. Ch 3, turn. 4th row: Skip first sc, make a joint dc over next 2 sc, dc in next sc. Ch 1, turn. 5th row: Insert hook in first dc, draw loop through, (insert hook in next st, draw loop through) 3 times: thread over and draw through all loops on hook. Break off. Skip 1 dc group, attach thread at base of next group and complete another point. Continue working in this manner until all points have been completed.
Block to measurements. Sew a metal ring to each point. Lace rick-rack through first 4 rows at bottom. Sew ends securely.
Curtain measures 27 x 64 inches.

Hairpin Lace Staples: ½-inch width and 2-in width.
15 curtain rings, 1-inch diameter.
NARROW STRIP: With ½-inch staple and White, make a strip of Basic Hairpin Lace with 102 lps on each side. Fasten off.
WIDE STRIP: With 2-inch staple and Yellow, make a strip of hairpin lace with 220 lps on each side. Fasten off.
TO JOIN STRIPS: Keeping all lps straight on Narrow Strip and twisting all lps on Wide Strip, attach Yellow to 1st lp on Narrow Strip, sl st in 1st lp on Wide Strip, * sl st in next lp on Narrow Strip, sl st in next lp on Wide Strip. Repeat from * to end lp on Narrow Strip. ** (Sl st thru next 3 lps on Wide Strip, sl st in same end lp on Narrow Strip) twice, ** sl st thru next 3 lps on Wide Strip, sl st in end sc on Narrow Strip, sl st thru next 3 lps on Wide Strip, sl st in 1st lp on other side of Narrow Strip; repeat from ** to **; (sl st in next lp on Wide Strip, sl st in next lp on Narrow Strip) repeated to end. Fasten off. Make 14 pieces.
TO JOIN: Starting at top, mark the 103d lp down each side of each piece. Attach Yellow to 1st lp on one piece, sl st in 1st lp on 2d piece, (sl st in next lp on 1st piece, sl st in next lp on 2d piece) repeated to marked lps. Fasten off. Join all pieces in same way.
EDGE: Attach Yellow to 1st lp on 1st piece, (ch 1, sc in next lp) repeated to marked lp, * (ch 3, sc in next lp) repeated around scallop, ch 3, sc in joining of pieces, ch 3, sc in 1st free lp on next scallop; repeat from * around to marked lp on final piece, (ch 1, sc in next lp) repeated to top corner. Fasten off.
RND 2: Attach White to back lp of 1st sc, (ch 1, sl st in back lp of next sc) repeated around. On scallops, * (ch 1, sl st in 2d ch of next ch-3 sp, ch 1, sl st in next sc) repeated around scallop to center of final ch-3 sp, ch 1, sl st in center ch of 1st sp on next scallop, ch 1, sl st in next sc; repeat from * across bottom of curtain. Complete side as for 1st side.
