Nothing really changed in his early life through the years, except his mother and youngest brother passed away. He still remembers that profound day when his mother breathed her last. She was the best of mothers with tall stature and milky face. With long silky hair stretching down her shoulders, she looked like any beautiful woman. Her heart constantly filled with the milk of human kindness; she often helped the needy. His father grieved at the great loss for her splendid qualities. He told him his mother had the finest disposition amongst his three wives! His first wife eloped with a friend of his. His mother was his second wife.
Later, she became ill and bedridden for eons of weeks. She lay in the bed, deeply panting. Sitting beside her was her faithful husband. Though he was the eldest, he never helped his father with the household chores. He sauntered about without contemplating domestic problems. Even a dog that loitered in the town may have its reasons, but he wandered for nothing good!
The mother called her children to her bedside and told her the last words.
“I am dying,” she said to her husband as she twitched her face in pain, “take care of his children, please.”
Father held her hands and nodded with teary eyes. When his eyes couldn’t hold the tears back, he turned his face away and sobbed all he could.
“Son, you are the eldest but you don’t seem like a grown-up. You will realize things one day after I am gone. Please take care of your younger brothers, and your father,” she panted. “Do you understand?”
