"Universal gravitation, gravity, or the cycles and systems of nature all function by attraction and complementarity, whether mechanical, biological or instinctive. Why cannot the world of men function by Participation and Solidarity, or by Love, which is simply the conscious form of the same attraction and complementarity? PRESENTATION
We live in a moment of civilizing transition. Since 70,000 years ago our ancestors began the long journey of the Cognitive Revolution, the domestication of plants and animals, the first permanent settlements, the invention of the city, writing, religions and money; since the rise and fall of the great empires; since the Scientific Revolution, the conquest of oceans and distant continents; from the advent of the steam engine, industrial scale production, the conquest of space, the power of the atom, the ability to devastate the natural environment without limits; since the invention of artificial intelligence; from the remotest painting on a cave wall to the video posted in the crowd of social networks, man has never before been so radically confronted with the idea that he has finally reached the threshold of his possibilities and is facing new flights never imagined, or a colapse that can have an instant and global dimension.
Like twilight swimmers crossing a river, the human crowd slowly moves way from the shore of the tranquil past, and increasingly struggles in the currents of the stormy present. They cannot envision the path to safety from the other shore and his forces are waning. Those who decide to return drown. Others swim against the current and the water also swallows them. The undecided simply sink. Some, however, know that they can do nothing but go swimming. With caution and balance, they assess where they stand, then invite their contemporaries to complete the difficult crossing.
The philosopher Osvaldo Della Giustina is one of those enlightened swimmers. It has long been learned that the crossing, or rather the civilizing transition in which we find ourselves, has deep chasms through which currents flow capable of sinking the most solid of civilizations. He equally understands that when a truth has to be revealed to men, it is communicated equally to all who are able to understand it, and willing to put it into practice. This is called mass consciousness, a state of understanding in which the individual harmonizes with the collective plane in order to experience the inevitable transformation.
The present PROPOSAL for a Participatory and Solidary Civilization, by Osvaldo Della Giustina, has its origins in the studies and consequent laurea of the author in philosophy, and was built over decades of functional experiences in the academic world, and in other functions performed in the most diverse levels of public, social and business life.
Always attentive to the development of the political, economic and social processes that characterize the stage reached by the human species, or Civilization, this preparation and this experience of life, have resulted in more than a dozen books, conferences and debates in Brazil and abroad exterior; hundreds of articles in scholarly publications, magazines, and newspapers that have strengthened and validated his view of the world and history. The analyzes and proposals in this book synthesize, follow, and signal this process of continued growth and maturation.
In 1982, his book THE AGE OF MAN: FOUNDATIONS FOR A NEW SOCIAL ORDER, began with a challenge: We already had the Stone Age, the Bronze Age, the Age of Faith, the Age of Reason, the Age of Capital. When will we finally have the AGE of man?
In 1987, involved with the Brazilian sphere of governance, the author offered the CONSTITUTIONAL PROPOSAL FOR A NEW SOCIETY, as the country was undergoing a constitutional reorganization.
In the year 2000, on the threshold of the third millennium, after addressing the question raised in a dozen books published during this period, Della Giustina published Humanization of Society, THE REVOLUTION OF THE THIRD MILLENNIUM, which, resuming the proposals of The Age of Man, from an analytical perspective of the evolution and already warning of the threat of its unsustainability, concluded: there must be the end of the world. But the price to be paid must be commensurate with the delay in promoting the necessary transformations and the size of the deviations that have been embedded in the process.
Four years later, in 2004, concerned that attention to the numbers, tables, and graphs contained in “The Revolution of the Third Millennium” would obscure the Synthesis presented in it - of an alternative proposal for social organization – he published PARTICIPATION AND SOLIDARITY, the Revolution of the Third Millennium (II). This edition is available electronically on the Internet, on social networks maintained by the author named For a Participatory and Solidary Civilization and also on the website www.participacaoesolidariedade.com.br
After long reflection and exchange of experiences and information with other thinkers and institutions, In For a Participatory and Solidary Civilization: The PROPOSAL, the author expresses the certainty that, in his little more than 60 pages, is the Synthesis of his thought, elaborated in more than 50 years, in a continuous work where, besides counting on a great collective contribution, it summarized all his practice and his analytical vision of the lived processes, offering everything, as an alternative proposal of social organization.
Osvaldo Della Giustina now delivers the PROPOSAL to be developed and put into practice by all those who believe that a better world is possible, and especially by institutions such as universities, churches, the media and even more, political and business organizations, as well as the sectors responsible for the manifestations of art and culture. It is in his hands that the author puts the opportunity to construct a new stage of Civilization, the post-technological humanity, or the Age of Man, capable of attuning the values and aspirations of the Mass of Consciousness with the advances of Science and Technology.

ABSTRACT
For a Participatory and Solidary Civilization: The PROPOSAL, in its first part, conceives the process of evolution of Civilization as a path from the simple to the complex, with complexity as the presupposition for freedom and, therefore, for conscience. However, complexity, if not ordered, instead of freedom produces disorganization. And disorganization in any living organism produces chaos and death. Therefore, everything that instead of ordering complexity, concentrates and monopolizes, and opposes diversity, contradicts the nature and order of living beings produces rupture and death.
Then, still in this part, the PROPOSAL identifies and explains the three fundamental laws that govern this process: the law of the complexification of nature, which brought consciousness and freedom, the law of acceleration of change, which made change a continuum, and the law of broadening the scope of the process that produced globalization. Imbalance generates severe dysrhythmia between advances in science and technology and their speed, in contrast to inertia or resistance to change by individuals and their institutions.
The PROPOSAL, in its second part, analyzes this imbalance that is growing in the present moment of the evolution of humanity, focusing on two perspectives that show it. The first perspective analyzes the extent of the imbalance introduced in the process of evolution which, driven by misuse of technology, is determining the deterioration of nature, at such a rate that if the process is not reversed in the same proportion and speed as it occurs, it will inevitably lead to in the exhaustion of the conditions offered by the Planet for the survival of life that exists in it, and especially of civilization.
From the analysis and warnings raised by personalities and scientific institutions about what is happening today with life-sustaining conditions on the Planet, the PROPOSAL describes what will be left of it in the near future, according to projections made by NASA scientists and scientists of Harward University if the necessary measures are not taken with the urgency and size to reverse such destruction.
