Prelude

Preston Child asserts the moral right to be identified as the author of this short story.

A single moment transforms Daniele Bianchi’s life into an endless nightmare. First, he has to cope with the tragic car accident of his father and then his mother starts to lose any reference to a responsible life, when the nearby pub became her second home. As if this would not be bad enough, his little brother suddenly disappears one day. Will Daniele be able to give his life a new twist for the better and also protect his family?

This story is a work of fiction. Names and characters are the product of the author’s imagination and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead is entirely coincidental.

Hate

The heavy metal music blared from the speakers of his old stereo. Although the pointers to the clock on his desk already signaled midnight, nobody complained about it. But he had not heard the doorbell anyway. The neighbors probably were hoping that his mother put an end to this horrifying noise soon, but she was hanging around in a bar again.

Since the fatal car crash of his father last spring, Donna Bianchi destroyed all the alcohol stocks that existed in this housing estate. But that was not even the worst part, because she constantly brought strangers into the apartment and got laid by them. Quite often her sons were awakened by a loud man moaning, including the clapping noise when two bodies were pushed against each other which eventually ended in her orgasm that got discharged in sharp cries.

She did not care about what happened to her sons or how she disturbed their nights and made them feel about her sexual escapades.

At the beginning she ensured that her ‘acquaintances’ were out of the apartment in the morning, but this had not lasted long and so it happened that her two boys met on a more or less beer-bellied, awful smelling, half-naked man in the kitchen before they went to school.

Daniele Bianchi was lying naked on his sofa bed. In his hand he held an empty bottle of booze, listening to Manowar, while he was mulling about the whereabouts of his younger brother.
