If the damage is visible, the error is corrected with a simple procedure. The first step is to cut the wire with a pliersat the place of failure. It must be taken into account that the so-called "iron cable" contains three individual cables inside, called phase, neutral and ground, which allow the connection with the electric current. The fault can affect one, two or all three interior cables. The iron should work again once the piece of cable that caused the problem has been removed. After removing the damaged fragment, the individual cables that have been cut must be joined again; To do this, the plastic that covers them must be removed and only the metal filaments must be left, then the ends of these must be joined and, later, the union must be covered with insulating tape.
Once the three interior cables have been restored, it is also necessary to cover the external surface, that is, protect the iron cable with insulating tape. In this way, with the fragment of cable that was causing the problem removed, the iron should work again.

If the problem is internal, that is, if at first glance the cable has no anomaly, it is possible to verify if the problem is in the cable or if it is actually in the body of the device. A first check is, indeed, the absence of damage to the connection strip. If it is burnt, it is likely that a short circuit has occurred, so it will be necessary to change it. However, it will be better for a specialist to check the device to discover the origin of the problem and thus be able to solve it.

An important fact: when mounting the iron, each cable must be connected to the same hole in the power strip. Once the cables have been removed, the multimeter will be used to verify that the three have no faults. When taking the measurement, it is convenient to move, flex and twist the cable a little. It's a way to make sure the cable is working well, since the problem can show up in certain positions and not in others.
If using the multimeter it is verified that the operation of the three individual cables is correct, it will be necessary to think of a problem outside the cable, inside the body of the iron.
The iron, generally, it is taken out of the closet when it is needed, it is used and it is put away again, without paying much attention to it. And it should be done, because its cleaning is essential: the dirt that accumulates on its surface, at some point, will end up on the clothes that are ironed.

Dark spots that form on the surface of the iron are removed with newspaper and coarse salt. The first signs of dirt that are usually detected on the surface of the iron are black or dark spots. These are removed by a very simple trick. On a smooth surface, such as a table or the floor, newspaper should be placed in quantity, until it forms a "mattress". A small layer of coarse salt is spread, the iron is plugged in and, when it is lukewarm, it is passed over the salt. In this way, much of the stains will be removed. Dirt that is not removed can be cleaned with a cloth.
