Materials:

 

BEEHIVE NON-SHRINK MOORLAND, 3 Ply (1 oz. skeins), or

 

BEEHIVE NON-SHRINK SOCK WOOL (1 oz. skeins).

 

2 skeins for each size.

 

Steel Crochet Hook Size G.

 

GAUGE: 4½ dc make 1 inch; 2½ rows make 1 inch.

 

Sizes Small (Medium, Large)

 

Make a chain about 24 inches long (5 ch sts make 1 inch). 1st row: Dc in 4th ch from hook, 2 dc in next ch, dc in next 58 dc (66 dc, 74 dc) 2 dc in each of next 2 ch. Cut off re­maining chain. Ch 3, turn.

 

2nd and 3rd rows: Dc in 1st dc, 2 dc in next dc (2 sts increased), dc in each dc across to within last dc, 2 dc in last dc, 2 dc in top st of turning ch (2 more sts increased). Ch 3, turn. 4th to 6th rows incl: Dc in each dc across and in top st of turning ch. Ch 3, turn. 7th to 9th rows incl: Work as before, decreasing 2 dc at both ends of row—to decrease 2 dc, work off 2 dc as 1 dc, twice. Fasten off at end of 9th row. Count across 15 dc (19 dc, 23 dc) from each end and mark with a pin.

 

Fold piece in half, then sew seam at bottom of foot and along front edge to pin marks.

 

CUFF … Attach thread at seam of center front. 1st rnd: * Sc in next dc, ch 1, skip 3 dc, in next dc make 5 loose dc's (each to measure about 1 inch) with ch 1 between (shell is made), ch 1, skip 3 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 1, sl st in 1st sc. 2nd rnd: Ch 4 loosely, in same place as sl st make 2 loose dc's with ch 1 between, * ch 1, sc in center dc of next shell, ch 1, shell in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with 2 loose dc's and ch 1 between at base of starting chain, ch 1, sl st in 3rd st of ch-4. 3rd rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 1, shell in next sc, ch 1, sc in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * around. Join. 4th rnd: Same as 2nd rnd, making p's instead of ch-1's between loose dc's of shells—to make a p, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook. Join and fasten off.
