Kunekune pigs may not be as popular as pot-bellied pigs, but more and more people are getting them for pets. Like the pot-bellied pig, kunekune are small domestic pigs. But unlike pot-bellies, they have long hair and are originally from New Zealand.

Pronounced " cooney cooney” and translated to "fat and round," these pigs are very similar to pet pot-bellied pigs. Some argue they are even easier to care for than their less hairy relatives.

Kunekunes are odorless, quiet, and safe for children. This keeps the neighbors happy, and both kids and adults love to visit.

CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION

The best way to pronounce Kunekune pigs is ("cooney cooney"). This is a brilliant and smart option if you intend owning a small farm. Kunekune signifies "fat and round" in the Maori language. These adorned, good natured, medium-sized pigs hail from New Zealand. While nobody knows without a doubt, they are believed to be a cross of Berkshire, Poland China and conceivably Gloucester Old Spots among pigs from Indonesia.

Females normally average around 100 to 175 pounds, while the makes can arrive at the 200 to 250 or more reach. They have short, improved noses that doesn’t encourage rooting, and they don't challenge walls. Kunekunes are brushing pigs and can grow on even on low levels of input, , making them an ideal variety during times of raising grain costs. Professional cooks in Los Angeles have proclaimed Kunekune pork remarkable.

Kunekunes are without smell, calm, and safe for kids. This keeps the neighbors cheerful, and this makes the children and grown-ups love to visit.

My better half and I raise our Kunekunes in a semi-country climate inside the growth management boundary of Olympia, Washington. We have in excess of twelve neighbors encompassing our 4-section of land bundle. Our province protection region has prompted us that our fields can uphold two pigs, eight sows, and their piglets. One boar undoubtedly keep eight sows in pig, however.
