So, 2020 has been an unforgettable year for everyone. Not just one or two people, but for everyone. There’s been change – and we know that change isn’t appreciated or managed by most.
But how do you manage not only your own feelings and emotions but also a six year olds – whose mind is developing, understanding and analysing everything that he hears and sees?
March 2020
The build up to lockdown. I spent days listening to the news, not usually one to watch, but I found it important. However this had a negative impact on my son – he felt my worry, confusion, frustration and so his behaviour started to waiver.
Now my son is beautiful, clever and kind – but he has his own mind and struggles to express his emotions in the right way. It is often frustration, grumpiness, shouting and throwing things. Yes, even at 6.
Add to this, I had not long started a new job that was the ‘perfect opportunity’ as it worked around school. I had spent hours each day driving to the biggest cities, and my son had spent this time in wraparound care – the new job meant school hours. The two words that most parents dream about as they realise the to-ing and fro-ing of school in those early years.
