Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY The Famous "PURITAN" CROCHET COTTON, Article 40 or "DE LUXE" Quality CROCHET COTTON, Article 346

1 ball each White and Red or any colors desired.

Steel crochet hook No. 7.

FRONT SECTION: With White ch 6, join to form a ring, ch 3 and work 15 d c in ring, join in 3rd st of ch. 2nd Round. Ch 3, d c in same space, * 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around (32 d c), drop White. 3rd Round. With Red s c in same space, * 2 s c in next d c, 1 s c in next d c, repeat from * all around ending with 2 s c in last d c, join, drop Red. 4th Round. Pick up White and working in back loop of sts, ch 3, 1 d c in each s c, join, drop White. 5th Round. With Red and working through both loops work same as 3rd round (72 s c), do not drop Red. 6th Round. Start to carry thread, ch 3 and working over the White, 4 d c in same space, drop loop from hook, insert in 3rd st of ch, pick up loop and pull through, 1 d c in each of the next 7 sts, popcorn st in next st, (popcorn st: 5 d c in same space, drop loop from hook, insert in 5th d c from hook, pick up loop and pull through) * with White and working over the Red 1 d c in each of the next 3 sts (when changing color always complete the last half of last st with next color), with Red popcorn st in next st, 1 d c in each of the next 7 sts, popcorn st in next st, repeat from * all around ending with White 1 d c in each of the last 3 sts, join in popcorn st. 7th Round. Pick up White ch 3 and working in back loop of sts only, work 1 d c in each s c, join, drop White. 14th Round. Pick up Red and working through both loops of sts work 1 s c in each d c increasing in every 6th st (210 s c), cut Red. 15th Round. Pick up White and work same as 13th round, cut White.

BACK SECTION: Work 1st 5 rounds same as front section, cut Red. 6th Round. Same as 13th round of front section, then continue with White. 7th Round. Ch 3, d c in next d c, 2 d c in next d c, * 1 d c in each of the next 2 d c, 2 d c in next d c, repeat from * all around, join (96 d c). 8th Round. Working in d c increase in every 4th st, join each round. Work 1 round even. 10th Round. Increase in every 4th st. Work 1 round even, drop White. Repeat the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th rounds of front section.

EDGE: Place the wrong side of each section together and working through both sections, attach Red in any d c, * ch 3, skip 2 d c, popcorn st in next d c, ch 3, skip 2 d c, s c in next d c, repeat from * all around, join, cut thread. With Red cover a bone ring in s c and sew to potholder.
