Decoding Who I Am

This book recounts a conversation between myself and a friend that took place after his wife had died in an accident. At the time, he was full of grief and sorrow.
Raj: What is death?
Me: Death is leaving this body and getting a new body.
R: But if I am not this body, then who am I?
M: You are Atman (Soul).
R: What is Atman?
M: Atman is the creator, the player and the destroyer. Atman is the one who started this creation, who plays in this creation and who destroys this creation.
R: If I am an Atman, why am I in this body?
M: You are just playing a game here.
R: Is this just a game?
M: Yes.
R: Yesterday, I saw a kid who looked like a skeleton. He was searching for food in the dustbin. Do you think he is just playing a game here?
M: Yes, that is part and parcel of this brutal game.
R: What is this brutal game?
M: It is Maya (illusion).
R: Why we are playing this game?
M: We come to this body to satisfy our emotions. But there are also other reasons.
R: Are you enlightened? What is enlightenment?
M: Enlightenment is reaching a thoughtless and dreamless state.
R: Is that truly possible?
M: Yes. That is enlightenment... Breaking your inner Maya.
R: What is the inner Maya?
M: There are two types of Maya. The first is the inner Maya which is created by your brain, and the second is the outer Maya, which is this universe.
R: Why is the universe considered the outer Maya?
M: This universe is like the stadium in which we play the game. It is something we can’t understand that easily.
R: How does the brain create Maya?
M: You are designed to use your brain in all your activities, and you are designed to think, dream, store and act using your brain. It makes you believe that you are your brain.
R: Am I not my brain?
M: No, you are not your brain. That is the Maya I am taking about... Whatever appears is not real.
R: Are only human beings a part of this Maya?
M: All creatures that have a respiratory system and digestive system are part of this Maya.
R: So any creature that has these two systems are part of this Maya? Or does a creature only need to have one of the systems?
M: They only need to have one of these systems.
R: You mean all animals, insects and trees are also a part of this Maya?
M: Yeah. Anything that has at least one of above systems is part of this game.
R: What is the significance of these systems?
M: The respiratory system is involved in the creation of the mind, and the digestive system also forces you to play this game. Thought and hunger makes you engage in Karma (action) and its results cause you to stay in the cycle of death and rebirth.
R: Who is Paramatma (super soul)? Do we come from Paramatma?
M: If we all came from one source, there would be no point in playing this game. We all come from different sources... We all are Avatars.
R: What is an Avatar?
