‘I release my parents from the feeling that they have already failed me.
I release my children from the need to bring pride to me, so that they may write their own ways according to their hearts, that whisper all the time in their ears.
I release my partner from the obligation to complete myself. I do not lack anything, I learn with all beings all the time.
I thank my grandparents and forefathers who have gathered so that I can breathe life today. I release them from past failures and unfulfilled desires.
I am aware that they have done their best to resolve their situations within the consciousness they had at that moment. I honor you, I love you and I recognize you as innocent.
I am transparent before your eyes, so you know that I do not hide or owe anything other than being true to myself and to my very existence, that walking with the wisdom of the heart, I am aware that I fulfill my life project.
Free from invisible and visible family loyalties that might disturb my Peace and Happiness, which are my only responsibilities.
I renounce the role of savior, of being one who unites or fulfills the expectations of others.Learning through, and only through, Love.
I bless my essence, my way of expressing, even though somebody may not understand me.
I understand myself, because I alone have lived and experienced my history. Because I know myself, I know who I am, what I feel, what I do and why I do it.I respect and approve myself. I honor the Divinity in me and in you. We are free.’

“Be your own mother” is a quote from the healing light colours card deck, which came to mind when I read Debby’s beautiful, spiritual, informative, and above all personal book. Such courage, to write this down and share it with you as the reader like this.
I’ve known Debby since 2017. I got in touch with her to ask if she wanted to write a blog on Bohemian Dreams. At that moment she was recovering from HELLP Syndrome. She decided to sign up to my training. I’m grateful that I was allowed to guide her first steps into entrepreneurship.
She kept investing in herself and developing herself on diverse fronts. She continued her yoga training, dove into her personal development, and soaked up knowledge from different coaches.
I find her courage and individuality admirable. The steps she took, and the tough decisions she made. For instance, she built up a community which she decided to shut down again because it ended up not fitting with her. The doubts on whether to communicate in Dutch on social media, or to go for English? Everyone follows along in her personal quest, and she’s an example in that.
The Dutch celebrity Daphne Deckers once wrote, “De overtreffende trap van moe is moeder.” (Translator’s note: in Dutch, tired is moe, and moeder is mother. The wordplay is on this, joking that the superlative of ‘moe’, tired, is ‘moeder’, mother.)
Motherhood is a tricky but loving task which you’re allowed to fill as a woman. As a single mother, it’s trickiness squared. That’s why it’s even more amazing that Debby time and time again makes time to step on the yoga mat and take time for herself. It’s so touching to see that Luna will climb under and over her and that they do yoga together. Children don’t learn from what you say, but from what you act out. In this, Debby is a real example for many moms. It’s wonderful how she roamed around Mexico with Luna, so that she was exposed to other languages and cultures at a very young age. I find her so brave because of the steps she took. Like giving up her house and job to go abroad with Luna.
Ultimately deciding to return to the Netherlands. She does everything from the heart and wants the best for Luna. It’s so cute to see how she speaks Spanish and English to Luna. Together, they are a unit which can take on the entire world.
In this book she takes the reader on a journey to various countries, her journey full of struggles, reflections, and the European mindset. She shares how her family, and especially her mother, support her repeatedly in all her choices. Even if those choices are less pleasant to her on a personal level, or if she sees that Debby’s hurting. After reading this book I understand even better why she is who she is now. It explains the urge for self-development, the search for herself, and how she chooses for her intuition and for Luna every time. She does it all!
It’s a book with a journey through the chakras, and questions relating to self-development in which you’ll get closer to yourself and be able to learn from her. Not just learn and write down, but really apply and put into action. You’ll find her beautiful, vulnerable life’s lessons about darkness, light, falling, getting up again, addictions, love, fear, and trust. She’s leaving these for you, reader, but also for Luna and a new generation of brave women allowed to choose for themselves, so that they may show up better for another.
Be your own mother! Enjoy the read and good luck on your path.

Introduction
I remember how astounded I was when I read the following in Jorge Luis Borges’s The Aleph: “Truth cannot penetrate a closed mind. If all places in the universe are in the Aleph, then all stars, all lamps, all sources of light are in it, too.”
I always imagined the Aleph as a many-faceted diamond, endlessly reflecting things from every corner of the universe. In the words of Borges: “the only place on earth where all places are — seen from every angle, each standing clear, without any confusion or blending.”
This multifaceted diamond reflecting your own eyes to infinity while you look at yourself, while simultaneously mirroring others through their eyes, is you. You are part of an endless power and at the same time you accomplish inconceivable things in an eternity of space and time. Time consists only of the now, and there is no end to this moment. All things that are, could be defined as ‘you’.
This book is for all women who, deep down, know that they journeyed here in spirals, because time is not linear. For those among us who have the soul of a wise, elder, and wild woman. For the women who draw from the knowledge of their ancestors, travelling between worlds and across international borders. From the signs that they received in their dreams.
The eternal knowledge that we as women carry within us, the seeds in our wombs from which all humans are born. Knowing that we are divine harbors, acting as basins and as links between the violence enacted upon our mothers and the inheritance of our blood.
You might have the feeling that you’re too intense to be a human, but too pedestrian to be a goddess. You feel one with nature. Nature reminds you of the fact that you are part of something much greater. So different to the way you were programmed to identify yourself in this life: as the body, separated from all else.
Ground your feet in the earth as the roots of a growing tree, while you lose yourself staring at the shining stars. At that exact moment, inhale deeply with the realisation that you yourself are the expanding universe. One single breath. An eternal moment. Fuller with life than ever before, with a passion like a burning flame gasping for oxygen so that it may spread itself further.
This is an invitation to find your inner conductor, the one that’s always whispering to you. The initiation will go so deep as to be all-encompassing. A holistic healing of a consciousness, rooting in a level of deep trust in all that is so that you can embody your values to the very core of your being.
Something bigger is calling you. While you stand up for who you are, time begins to slow down. You are no longer afraid of the revolt of all your atoms. You’re ready to detangle the knot in your stomach that was binding you. Keep an eye on your surroundings. They will begin to see that She is already there: your higher self, waiting for you to step into the void.
What I’m sharing in this book is not the absolute Truth. It is my truth. The path on which I’ve collected all of my life lessons in my spiritual reconciliation. I will give you the starter tools to discover yourself, so you can end up doing exactly that which you were brought to life to do.
To put it another way: it’s not a book to just simply read. It’s about the results you will get, the revelations, and most likely the resistance you will crash into. The things that happen deep within you once you start doing the work.
Trust in the fact that this book will gift you exactly what you need to reveal your truth. I’m not a fan of the genre of self-help books: you are not broken, and you do not need to be fixed. You are already complete. Life is a journey of discovery, an expedition to your Self.
That feeling of richness and integrity that you are looking for is not something which you can force or strive towards. All you can do is create the right circumstances in which you can find yourself.
In this book I am going to help you to create those circumstances so that you can discover the purest form of fulfillment that is available to you: the worship of the Self. There is no ‘right path’ to walk down. Your path is unique to you.
There’s not a single book out there which can solve all your problems. This book will help you to switch on, to grow, to tune in to your consciousness and call to your true self. It will teach you that you do not have to prove yourself, but nudge you to question everything you believe in and gain a different perspective on life.
I want to connect you with that which you are truly here to discover, make, and share. The part of you that’s ready to live her truth, because you know that everything has already been given and that all the certainties you cling onto are nothing more than an illusion of your ego. All your fears, blocks, and vices are holding you back from displaying your true nature.
As mothers of young families, we often think that the solution is to sacrifice ourselves completely in order to care for others. In this book I am going to show you that nothing is less true. What is true, is that us mothers have to keep many plates spinning and that we often want to fulfill all the expectations put on us to be a ‘good mother’. The thing we forget is to mother ourselves. We don’t need to save the world. If you’re a stay at home mom, you have taken on the most difficult job in the world. It’s priceless. This book is an invitation to unchain yourself. To break free of the cage you try to lock yourself into, despite the fact that you are a wild and free being. A caring, loving creature, who would like to pass on compassion and awareness to her children.
If you are reading this book, that means you feel the call saying you are here to be something bigger, realer, and more powerful. It’s wild, raw, and authentic. A lifelong adventure with no final destination.
It’s about the process, not the results. Just like how at my daughter’s Waldorf school, the artworks are not graded on ‘good’ or ‘beautiful’, but with questions such as, “What technique did you use to make this?” “Why did you pick this colour?” “How did it feel to make this?” “What were you thinking about when you created this?” Remember this while you read this book. If you want a different life, you have to start by asking different questions.
Reading Guide
This book consists of three parts:
1.Part I recounts in two chapters the experience of physical anchoring in the world and the worldy. This is the strong foundation you need before you can begin the spiritual process of detachment.
2.Part II consists of three chapters covering the subject of emotional being. This part is about the process that will help you transition from individual to universal consciousness; from the conditional to the unconditional.
3.Part III is about the reflective capacity of our being. You will learn about how you put the life energy you receive into movement, on a physical as well as mental level. This will allow you to work together with your intuition and achieve oneness with the universe from a place of insight and knowledge.
The Triple Goddess
Every part of this book stands for one of the forms of the Triple Goddess. The Daughter, The Mother, and the Wise Crone stand for the three phases which women embody throughout their lives, but which they also adopt cyclically depending on circumstances and growth processes. As a woman, you have access to these inner wisdoms of femininity at every moment of your life. You can always call to them for direction, guidance, power, advice, wisdom, light, purification, and support.
Journeying through these phases can sometimes make you feel as if the world is crumbling beneath your feet, due to a lack of awareness of the transitions you are going through. Once you start looking at this process as more of an embracing of each of these phases, you will notice profound shifts in your life. In this manner you can reclaim all the aspects of your womanhood in their totality. In this way, you can give yourself fully to what it is within you that wants to come out, as well as let go of that which falls away, without feelings of guilt and regret.
We women are creatures of the moon. Our menstrual cycle is as changeable as the phases of the moon. This mysterious force on which life thrives will become a personal invitation for you to unfold your power as a wise, creative, and magnetic woman. In the first chapter of each of the three phases you will find further explanation on the focus of this invitation.
Challenge and exercise
I close every chapter with a challenge and an exercise. These exercises will help you get to the core of your essence.
This book has an accompanying workbook where you can find a number of these exercises along with video or audio to guide you.

to download the workbook.
Order
You may consume this wisdom freely and at any moment. You can take it in big gulps or small nibbles of time, as you wish. Integrating this wealth and following up with the exercises can take longer than the reading itself. You may choose to let it come to you slowly, in order to get the maximum learning benefits and growth from the lessons.
The best way to read this book is from beginning to end, following the most logical sequence. If, however, you’re like me and not really one for logic and more for the cyclical realisation of things, then I recommend you to let your intuition guide you to the step that will bring you the most.
Ensure that you are in a quiet place, then inhale and exhale deeply three times. Feel where in your body your awareness is being pulled to. Every chapter stands for a chakra, an energy centre in your body as well as in your life on a bodily, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual level. The chakra calling your attention can be found in each corresponding chapter:
1. Root chakra
2. Sacral chakra
3. Solar plexus chakra
4. Heart chakra
5. Throat chakra
6. Palate Chakra
7. Third Eye Chakra
8. Crown Chakra
For more information on each of these chakras, please consult its corresponding chapter, where you can find a summary of its holistic anatomy.
The Initiation
It has been four years already, but I still remember it like it was yesterday because of the sadness and courage that bubble up in me when I think back to it. I never thought I would become a single mom. How can someone leave you behind alone with a consciously conceived child?
I’m not really sure how this story could be relevant for you. I’m writing this book because I heard her subtle whispers: “Your story must be told. Something bigger is calling you.” I want to share with you how that which completely crushed and broke me, became that which set my heart and soul aflame.
I was filled with grief, resentment, and anger. Humiliated in my femininity because I was let down during the most vulnerable moment of my life: the initiation from daughter to mother.
Knowing that the outside world is but a reflection of what is happening within, I couldn’t help it. I blamed myself. “I should have known,” I said to myself. I saw his last written words to me flashing before my eyes and heard them echoing across the room. “You think the whole world revolves around you. You’re the epicentre of the world.”
If I’m completely honest with myself, I already knew it for a long time. I knew it the moment he left me at the airport with a hasty kiss. “I’ll be back after I check in for my flight, we’ll drink coffee together.” I never saw him again. I was three months pregnant.
I knew it. I felt it in my gut and yet still I chose to ignore it. I let him take up space which I wasn’t taking for myself. The real question then is, when did I abandon myself?
From the day that I became a single mother, nothing would ever be the same. It changed the way I see myself and those around me. I had to become more involved in the leading of my own life and learn how to make choices without hurting myself. Aside from the fact that I had to learn how to care for my newborn child, the real challenge was learning how to embrace myself.
The daughter is young, strong, courageous, full of energy, unbounded, determined, and positive. She’s full of ideas and looking forward to the future. What she lacks in years, she makes up for with her sparkling lust for life and enthusiasm. She’s the Virgin, the piece of innocence that sees potential in everything. She’s a woman to herself, seeing magic in all things.
If she’s manifesting her shadow side, then she is naive, egocentric, easily influenced, inexperienced, suffering from low self-esteem, too many ideas and too much time spent overthinking. She’s good at starting things, but lacks the motivation to finish them. She has the tendency to overcommit, she says a resounding yes to everything because she likes a lot of stuff or she’s afraid to miss out on new things.
This phase equates to the new waxing moon and stands for the element of air. Symbolically it runs alongside the spring, the season filled with new possibilities. This is the time to come forward with new ideas and incubate them. To play with your ideas without placing limitations on yourself or your creations. This is the time to write down your dreams, to plan them and visualise them. The possibilities are endless.
Chapter 1 - Anchor in yourself
‘She is the root connection’
– Patti Smith
When I think back to my childhood, I can’t remember when it began. I do however have a vivid memory of a deep longing for adventure, possibly because it all started for me when my mother took a Greek pregnancy test in Crete. Before she took it, she got it thoroughly translated by a hotel employee at the front desk. It’s in my blood. Έγκυος’: she was pregnant.
Her pregnancy with me went fine, until the moment she suddenly became very ill. She couldn’t hold down food and the doctors had no idea what it was. A gallbladder infection, maybe?
