Pansy Handkerchief Edging Pattern

 

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" TATTING CROCHET, Article 25.

1 ball Tinted Lavender and Yellow

1 ball Nile Green

1 Handkerchief

Steel crochet hook No. 13

 

PANSY: With Tinted Lavender and Yellow ch 9, join to form a ring, ch 3, 2 d c in ring, * ch 6, 3 d c in ring, repeat from * 3 times, ch 6, join in 3rd st of ch. 2nd Row—Sl st to next d c, * 11 d c in next loop, s c in center d c of next d c group, repeat from * 4 times, join. 3rd Row—Ch 1 and work 1 s c in each d c and 1 s c in each s c between petals, join.

 

4th Row—* Ch 9, sl st in back of work between next 2 petals, repeat from * once, ch 1, turn, work 1 s c, 3 d c, 9 tr c, 3 d c, 1 s c over next ch 9 loop, sl st in sl st, 1 s c, 3 d c, 9 tr c, 3 d c, 1 s c over next ch 9 loop, sl st in same space with ch, ch 1, turn and work 1 s c in each st of the 2 large petals, cut thread. Work 1 more pansy in same manner. 3rd Pansy—Work 1st 3 rows same as 1st pansy. 4th Row—* Ch 9, sl st in back of work between next 2 petals, repeat from * once, ch 1, turn and work 1 s c, 3 d c, 9 tr c, 3 d c, 1 s c over the ch 9 loop, sl st in sl st, 1 s c, 3 d c, 9 tr c, 3 d c, 1 s c over next ch 9 loop, sl st in same space with ch, ch 1, turn, 1 s c in each of the next 8 sts, having the 2 large petals toward you, join to right hand side of 1st pansy at beginning of large petal, 1 s c in each remaining st of same large petal, 1 s c in each of the next 8 sts of next large petal, having the 2 large petals of 2nd pansy toward you, join to left hand side of 2nd pansy at beginning of large petal, 1 s c in each remaining st of same large petal, cut thread. Sew in position on corner of handkerchief as illustrated having the 2 large petals of end pansies extend over the handkerchief.

 

Edge: Attach Green at left hand side of corner and work a row of s c all around working 3 s c in each corner, turn. 2nd Row—* Ch 5, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * to corner having an even number of loops to corner, ch 5, s c in same space (corner), * ch 5, skip 2 s c, s c in next s c, repeat from * around next 2 sides having an uneven number of loops on each side and working corners same as 1st corner, work 4th side same as 1st side, cut thread, turn.

 

Attach Tinted Lavender and Yellow in same space, ch 4, 4 d c cluster st in 1st loop (4 d c cluster st: 4 d c in same space keeping last loop of each d c on hook, thread over and pull through all loops at one time), ch 3, sl st in top of cluster st for picot, * ch 4, s c in next loop, ch 4, 4 d c cluster st in next loop, ch 3, sl st in top of cluster st for picot, repeat from * around to opposite side of flower, working 2 - 4 d c cluster sts with ch 5 between in each corner loop and ending row with ch 4, sl st in large petal of flower, cut thread.

Crocheted Edge for Plate Pattern

 

 

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" PEARL COTTON, Article 90, size 5

1 ball each White and Steel Blue

1—7 inch plate

Steel crochet hook No. 5 or No. 6.

 

Starting at inside edge of front of plate with White ch 174 about 20 inches, join to form a ring being careful not to twist ch, ch 6, skip 2 sts of ch, tr c in next st, * ch 2, skip 2 sts of ch, tr c in next st, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join in 4th st of ch (58 meshes). 2nd Row—Ch 6, tr c in next tr c, * ch 2, tr c in next tr c, repeat from * all around, ch 2, join in 4th st of ch. 3rd and 4th Rows—Same as 2nd row. 5th Row—Ch 6, tr c in next tr c, * ch 1, tr c in next tr c, ch 2, tr c in next tr c, repeat from * all around, ch 1, join. The last 2 rows go in back of plate.
