NORMAN VINCENT PEALE

This book is dedicated to my boys, Abdul, Anwar, and Khalil. Thank you for being the best business partners a mom ever had. You rock!

To my husband, Rick: I promise to make up for all the dinners that you missed, and thank you for allowing me the time to write this book.

To my twin sister, Aginah: for being a Rockstar Millionaire Mom right along with me, dreaming dreams, and having vision.

To my ancestors: all of you knew how to have a Family Business Legacy. Thank you for showing me the way.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

My utmost sincere and special thanks to the following:

To my Holy Father for guidance and insight while writing this book. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for guiding me.

My students who have trusted me over the years and who have developed their own businesses and have gone on to see them succeed. You are so incredible. Continue to be Rockstars in your own right, and now that most of you are parents, you became Rockstar Parents, and your kids are now Rockstar Kids.

My mentor, Dr. Sonya Stribling, for taking so many so high. Everybody needs a hero, and you are mine. When I grow up, I want to be just like you.

CHAPTER1

IN THE BEGINNING

We were a group of fairly content children who grew up with unassuming parents. They were not an educated couple. They worked hard. Our mother Laura, was born in Magnolia, Mississippi. She came from a very large and loving family of fourteen brothers and sisters. My grandfather, George, was considered a pillar of the community. He had, along with his brothers, inherited land from his father and his father's father. He learned to use it wisely and to the benefit of his family. The children respectively had their space and place on the farm. Each was expected to perform the daily chores and duties assigned to them. It was understood that the boys were first in line always. They were first when it came to education, respect, and being listened to. Even though they worked just as hard as the boys, the girls were expected to complete household chores. Some, like my mother, were always willing to work in the house and look after the babies. I guess that's why she was one of the better cooks among my aunts.
