Saint-Germain-en-Laye - the “new commune”- the sub-prefecture of the department, is located in the western suburns of Paris (11,9 ml from the center of Paris). Covering approximately 19 sq miles, it is the largest commune in the Yvelines. Saint-Germain-en-Laye lies at one of the western termini of line A of the RER (the regional transport system that criss-crosses Paris and reaches far into the suburbs).
At an altitude between 72 and 350 feet, the town benefits from excellent air quality, hence the name given to the “Bel Air” district.
