Squirrels are such fun to watch! They are acrobatic, smart, diligent, inquisitive and they love nuts! It lifts my spirits to watch them play.

Squirrels are fun to watch. Squirrels like to watch you too. They are good at scavenging food. They can acclimate to any kind of weather. They are very acrobatic. They are experts at hiding, blending in, and camouflage. Sometimes they are just very cute and a lot of fun.
I work at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. It is a lovely campus with a lake, flowers and lots of tall trees. Quite a few squirrels have made it their home. They like the tall oak trees and make their nests in them. They like the cool of the brick walls around some of the gardens. Most of all, they like the scraps of food they can find when the faculty, staff and students are done eating. I have seen them eating bagels, pizza, buffalo fried chicken, and burritos. They bury nuts and seeds all over the grounds, and dig them up in any season - spring - summer - winter or fall. They enjoy the many berries and seeds that grow on the various bushes and trees and can often be seen hanging upside down enjoying a feast. I like to watch them run around and chase each other. They are quite fast and very acrobatic, doing stunning feats of daring leaping from a trunk to a branch on another tree. It is amazing to watch them try to camouflage themselves and hide from me, often by taking on the shape of a sprouting branch and holding very still. Other times they will peek out from behind a branch to see if I'm still there, still watching.
Squirrels will eat about anything. This one is enjoying a wrap she found near the student dining hall.
