The ability to accurately determine the result of cooking every time is every chef's dream. Each time you cook, the food should turn out tasty with the precise amount of flavor and the perfect texture. The regular method of cooking can be really inaccurate, since you have little or no control over temperature and heat. Which then result in stressful cooking, wasted time, overcooking the food's exterior, loss of flavor and an approximate texture.
Sous vide cooking refers to a method of cooking that makes use of clear-cut temperature control to bring about unfailing restaurant-quality meals. Sous vide cooking was once restricted to the professionals. For many years, expensive restaurants had the monopoly of the sous vide cooking method to cook food to the desired and exact point of doneness, consistently. The affordability and availability of user-friendly sous vide precision cooking equipment made it possible for home chefs to exploit the once monopolized cooking technique.
One of the many benefits of sous vide cooking is that each achieved result is consistent and unattainable with any other method of cooking.
Sous vide cooking offers the following benefits:
1. Reliability and Even Cooking. Since food is cooked for an accurate amount of time and at an accurate temperature, the results are precise, even and dependable.
2. Flavor. Sous vide cooking cooks the food in its juices, which ensures that the cooked food is precisely soft, juicy and moist.
3. Precision Cooking. You do not have to worry about over cooking your food, since the immersion circulator brings the food to an accurate temperature and retain the temperature.
4. Time Efficient. Sous vide cooking does not require steady attention. You can attend to other things while cooking unlike other cooking methods.
5. Waste Cutback.
There are few things you will need to get started on the sous vide cooking journey, such as:
1. A sous vide immersion circulator for precision cooking. There are several immersion circulators for home chefs on the market that are affordable and user-friendly.
2. Canning jars and resealable bags. Most sous vide food recipes call for the use of canning jars and resealable bags to store food before sous vide cooking. Few recipes do not require the use of jars or bags such as; hardboiled egg.
3. A water bath - any container or pot that is heat proof and that can hold water.
The sous vide cooking process is not as difficult as it seems. The sous vide cooking experience is centered on the following steps:
1. Attach your immersion circulator to a water bath or pot of water.
2. The temperature and time on the immersion circulator is programmed to your preferred level of doneness.
3. Season food as desired.
4. Seasoned food should be placed in a resealable bag.
5. Bag should be sealed. Vacuum sealing or water displacement method helps to get rid of air in the bag.
6. The sealed bag should be clipped to the side of the water bath or pot.
7. Press start on the immersion circulator's screen.
6. Once food has been sous vide cooked, food should be finished by broiling, grilling or searing for a crispy nice golden finish.
