Square Pot Holder Pattern

Materials:

LILY DOUBLE QUICK Mercerized Crochet Cotton, Art. 50: 1 skein each Flamingo, Gray and Cream.

No. 3 Steel Crochet Hook.

¾-inch plastic ring.

With Cream, ch 50 tightly.

ROW 1: Sc in 2d ch from hook, (ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch) repeated across.

ROW 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st sc, (ch 1, sc in next sc) repeated across. Repeat Row 2 until square. Fasten off.

EDGE: Attach Gray to 1 corner, ch 1, (sc, ch 1, sc) in same st, * (ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in next st) repeated across to corner, ch 1, sc in same corner; repeat from * around; join and fasten off.

ROW 2: Attach Flamingo to 1 corner, (ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp) repeated around, with an extra lp at corners; join and fasten off.

CIRCLE: Starting in center with Flamingo, ch 2.

RND 1: 6 sc in 2d ch from hook. Do not join rnds. Mark end of rnds.

RND 2: 2 sc in each sc.

RND 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next) 7 times.

RND 4: (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 7 times.

RND 5: (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) 4 times, sc in next 3 sc, sl st in next 2 sc; fasten off. Make 5. Sew wrong-side-up on each corner and in center. Make 4 Gray Circles. Sew between Flamingo Circles. Steam and press Holder dry on back thru a cloth. Sew plastic ring to 1 corner.

J. & P. Coats "Knit-Cro-Sheen," Art. A.64, 1 ball each of No. 48 Hunter's Green, No. 68 Skipper Blue and No. 12 Black and a few yards of No. 126 Spanish Red and No.1 White; or

Clark's O.N.T. Mercerized Bedspread Cotton, Art. B.504, colors of your own choice; or
