Introduction:
Welcome. My name is Ben Hogge. I practice Applied Behavior Analysis and I have been working in the education field for close to 10 years. Specifically, in the area of Autism Spectrum disorder and parent training. I have a master’s degree in special education, and I am a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. In the field of Behavior Analysis, we are tasked with addressing socially significant behaviors to improve the lives of our clients. In these uncertain times, we are discovering new skills that are to be designated as “socially significant”. I’m talking about our new civic duty of wearing masks in public to decrease the spread of COVID-19. It’s hard to say when this will no longer be a requirement so it’s a good idea to have your child learn to wear a mask to the best of their abilities. Check with your current state mandates to know who should be wearing a mask and the age limits. If you want your child to wear a mask even though they are younger than the mandated age, that is your choice as a parent, and I hope to give you the strategies necessary for teaching this skill. Throughout this ebook, we are going to cover some key terms and definitions that will build on our general knowledge of teaching strategies and ultimately show you how to systematically approach this skill.
