Beschreibung

Mrs. Wendy Tremble was very a lonely widow who lived alone in a very large two-story home in New Jersey. The affliction of her arthritis discomfort hindered her mobility and was restricted to the home, which depressed her greatly. She longed for frequent visits by her son and his family but concluded that they had their own lives to live and didn’t want to be a burden to them, yet living in that big house alone was a bit much for her and was often terrified in the night by the strange sounds from the upstairs level of her home.

What's Upstairs?

Old Mrs. Tremble sat in her living room knitting near the fireplace one night.  It was a peaceful night as she thought of her beloved departed Henry.  As she reminisced about the past, she drifted back to when they sat on the couch cuddled together watching the flames on the logs crackle talking about any and everything.  He was a loving, gentle man and their conversations together were so gratifying.  How she missed him so, they had such a wonderful union. There were times when she’d be thinking of something and he would say exactly what she was thinking.  The love they had was inseparable.

Suddenly a loud clangor came from upstairs as if something had been dropped on the floor.

 “Henry!” She called out.

“Uh, what am I thinking about?  Henry is not here, but I sure wish he was!  He would protect me from that noisy nuisance upstairs.  I know I'm not alone here and at times I get scared.  Surely no one wants to harm an old lady!  I just wonder whose up there!  Oh if only my son were here! ”  She thought as she collected her composure.

She kept on knitting as the sounds up above her grew quite disturbing, it was if something was being moved around but she ignored it and kept on with what she was doing.

****

Mrs. Tremble was a 79-year-old widow, who lived alone in a big two-story house on Moss Hill Road just outside of New Jersey.  It was a cold night as the wind blew quite hard out. The icy snow covered the ground as ice cycles hung from a big tree out on the corner of her property that form a semi-arch against her house.
