The children of the village loved the forest, there was so much mystery there. The wonders of nature, the wildlife and often where mysterious creatures lurked intrigued them, but one strange night they discovered something even more amusing. Some were shocked to witness the magic manipulation of four strange neighbors in the dark forest. The villagers believed they were evil sorcerers but the children were often inquisitive of these four ladies and wanted to establish the facts for themselves as they watched them prepare a meal from a large black cast iron boiling pot outside their cottage.
“Umm, that smells so delightful Edith!” One of them complimented.
“Yes, now all we need is four black bird wings and two horned toads to give it flavor!” Helena, the others agreed.
Magically, one of them walked over to look beneath an old log and found two large horned toads and tossed them into the hot boiling substance. One of the other ladies pointed her finger towards a tree branch and magically four blackbirds fell to the ground when one of the children blurted a gasped in astonishment from behind the brush, which was heard by one of the ladies.
“Hey did you hear that?” She cried quickly looking out into the dark wilderness.
“Hear what?” The others inquired as they kept stirring.
