It all started when she was six and he taught her to swim.  Years later, a murder, a mugging, a millionaire, and some very nasty characters changed grown-up Melanie from a cool computer exec to a very interesting and erotic young woman.

The Double Century

 Chapter One  The Meeting

She was the most gorgeous woman at the charity ball, younger than the trophy wives that put these events together.  As far as Jim was concerned, she was probably the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.  The backless little black dress fit like skin.  Her figure might have coined the old phrase “Hate to see her go, but loved to watch her leave.”  She was lively, happy, pleasant to see, a blond twenty-something young woman sure of herself and glad to be alive.  The dress was perfect, Long sleeves with a neckline surrounding her throat, open in back to almost shocking, the high heels tiny, and the pearl was just enough jewelry.  Familiar?  Have I met her before?  ‘Good lord, I’m old enough to be her father!  Am I really a dirty old man?  Her back was toward him, yet somehow, Jim felt he recognized her bearing, something about the way she moved, the way she held her head.  Do I know her?  When the crowd cut off his view he realized that seeing her was the high point in an evening that he had almost dreaded; a charity affair he was expected to attend.  The ballroom of the Sandpiper Hotel/Resort was crowded with the local movers and shakers, all wanting to be seen, noticed, and photographed for the society pages.  He was meeting and greeting as expected, when a lovely arm encircled his left arm and the ripe breast of Celeste Humphry-Davis, event sponsor and wife of a local mover and shaker, accosted his bicep.

“Jim Evans, you have been avoiding me!  I want your magnificent body for the bachelor auction; we won’t collect a dime without you!”

“Darling Celeste, you know I would just love to, but really dear, don’t you think I’m a little long in the tooth.  My old stiff body would likely frighten away bidders by droves!”
